- I've been thinking about converting my Reaper projects to Vegas projects for a while.
- After a bit of research, I found that Vegas and Reaper both support 'EDL TXT'.
- Thanks to this, you can use your projects between the two.
- Note: this format is very basic, no VSTs nor audio FXs (pitch shift included) will be preserved in the destination
- project.
- In Reaper, save your project as 'EDL TXT (Vegas)'.
- You will obtain a simple .txt file; open it with whatever text editor.
- As you can see, the structure looks like a table.
- We'll need to change the 'MediaType' and 'FileName' fields of every entry.
- Let's make it so that we will have video clips in place of audio clips:
- 1) change AUDIO; to VIDEO; . It's important for the null character ( ) to be present
- after the semicolon.
- 2) change 'FileName' to point to the video file. For example:
- "D:\Videos\YTPMV\Samples\SmoothMcGroove\Pah(ceru).wav" -> "D:\Videos\YTPMV\Samples\SmoothMcGroove\Pah(ceru).avi"
- And that's it. Open Vegas and File -> Import -> 'EDL Text file'
- You will only have video tracks. Yes, you could have audio objects,
- but it's 100% useless, just render the tracks and use those.
