the sheer and slippery surfaces of the rock you are now within sight of the rounded summit, many
hundreds of feet above the flat plain which as you can see from here stretches for miles in all
directions from the rock. Growing from small crags in the rock are tiny flowering plants barely
visible to the naked eye which have taken root in the smallest of crevices, a testament to the
indefatigable urge of life to prosper in the most barren of habitudes. Up here the air is warm and
rarified, and looking from this height the plain seems very far away indeed, giving you a sense of
the insignificance of daily life as compared with the countless aeons which this rock has stood in
