  3. Flora: And...that's that! All neat and tidy.
  4.
  5. Odin: ...
  6.
  7. Flora: ...
  8.
  9. Odin: ...
  10.
  11. Flora: Odin, you can come out from behind that pillar now.
  12.
  13. Odin: Eep!
  14. I-i mean--!
  15. Flora! How stunningly perceptive of you to sense my presence!
  16.
  17. Flora: Sense your prese-- Were you meant to be hiding?
  18.
  19. Odin: ...was that not obvious?
  20.
  21. Flora: Muttering to yourself gave away your position quite easily.
  22.
  23. Odin: ...oh.
  24.
  25. Flora: Was there something you needed, or were you skulking around for the fun of it?
  26.
  27. Odin: Actually, there WAS something I wanted to discuss with you.
  28.
  29. Flora: Oh? How may I help?
  30.
  31. Odin: Are you perhaps....
  32.
  33. Odin: Hm... How do word this....
  34.
  35. Flora: ...
  36.
  37. Odin: Flora, are you a Jötunn?
  38.
  39. Flora: I...
  40. I-i'm sorry?
  41.
  42. Odin: Or perhaps a descendent of one! Perhaps their blood flows through your frigid veins.
  43.
  44. Flora: What on earth are you talking about?
  45.
  46. Odin: I happened upon you the other day. When you were cleaning [Lord/Lady Avatar]'s quarters.
  47.
  48. Flora: You did...?
  49.
  50. Odin: During the process, a plate slipped from your hands and shattered on the floor.
  51.
  52. Flora: ...I was hoping no one saw that.
  53.
  54. Odin: But when you went to retrieve the pieces, a violent gust of wind swept through, biting and sharp. It was so sudden and aggressive, it even took ME, a practitioner of arcane magics, by surprise.
  55.
  56. Flora: ...oh dear.
  57.
  58. Odin: And as you picked up the shards of the fallen dish, I saw tendrils of frost spring forth from your fingers, spiderwebbing their way across the surface.
  59.
  60. Flora: Odin, really, this isn't--
  61.
  62. Odin: It was AMAZING.
  63.
  64. Flora: Beg pardon?
  65.
  66. Odin: And that's why I ask--to possess such prowess over such a temperamental art as that of the frozen tundra, you MUST have some connection to beings of frost from lore.
  67.
  68. Flora: ...
  69.
  70. Odin: Ah? Have my powers of deduction torn asunder your charade?
  71.
  72. Flora: I'm more baffled than anything else. A...'yoh-toon'? My apologies, but I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about.
  73.
  74. Odin: Huh--?! But! But your ice magic--
  75.
  76. Flora: Is something that I've learned since a little girl.
  77. It IS the signature magic of the Ice Tribe.
  78.
  79. Odin: ...oh.
  80.
  81. Flora: No mythical beasts or anything like that. Just something that comes with being a member of the tribe.
  82.
  83. Odin: I...see.
  84.
  85. Flora: Now, is that everything? Because I just be going--
  86.
  87. Odin: Flora!
  88.
  89. Flora: ...Yes, Odin?
  90.
  91. Odin: Could you...teach me how to harness such glacial powers?
  92.
  93. Flora: You...want to learn ice magic?
  94.
  95. Odin: Ice is the most fickle of magics; even I must admit that I have difficulties taming it.
  96.
  97. Flora: Well. I suppose I could give you a few pointers. Though I'm a bit busy at the moment. Perhaps another time?
  98.
  99. Odin: Of course! I shall take my leave, then, but I look forward to our next encounter.
  100. Until then! [leaves]
  101.
  102. Flora: ...
  103. My, he's an...energetic one, isn't he.
  104.

  109. Odin: Flora! There you are!
  110.
  111. Flora: Hello there, Odin. Did you need something?
  112.
  113. Odin: I was merely curious if you were finally freed of your duties, so that you may impart upon
  114. me the knowledge of your wintery magics.
  115.
  116. Flora: Oh, that's right. I did offer to help you with that, didn't I.
  117.
  118. Odin: Indeed! And I've been eagerly awaiting for that time when the stars would align and free you from your duties, so that I might drink from your wellspring of knowledge.
  119.
  120. Flora: Er...right.
  121. Well, I just finished up my tasks for the day, so I have a bit of free time before dinner.
  122.
  123. Odin: Excellent! Dazzle me with your prowess of the frosty arts!
  124.
  125. [fade to black]
  126.
  127. Flora: Now, you say you have some experience with ice magic, correct? May i see what you have mastered now?
  128.
  129. Odin: Of course!
  130. *ahem*
  131. Oh, divine beings of the tundra beyond, I summon your glacial powers--BREATH! OF! AENIR!
  132.
  133. Flora: ...
  134.
  135. Odin: ...
  136.
  137. Flora: ...
  138.
  139. Odin: ...
  140. E-er. I suppose the divine ones are, uh. Being fickle today.
  141.
  142. Flora: Is that so.
  143. Regardless, I at least have a baseline of your abilities now.
  144.
  145. Odin: Oh? Then speak your thoughts, and grant me your infinite wisdom.
  146.
  147. Flora: Hm. Where to begin.
  148. ...Well, for starters, you needn't invoke ancient gods to cast spells. Especially not those who may not exist in the first place.
  149. And while your flair for the dramatic may be useful for some, ice magic requires focus--shifting your attention to such flashy endeavors will only weaken your ability to harness it effectively.
  150.
  151. Odin: I...see.
  152. You certainly don't hold back, do you.
  153.
  154. Flora: I suppose I may have come off as a bit harsh there.
  155. Really, Odin, I've seen you in battle, and you're quite adept with dark magic. Mastering ice magic isn't necessary.
  156.
  157. Odin: Even so, the versatility knowing different types of magical arts grants.... And ice magic is such an enigmatic practice....
  158.
  159. Flora: I suppose many struggle with it because of the level of mental focus it takes to properly wield. Even I admit it took quite some time for me to get where I am.
  160.
  161. Odin: You make it seem effortless, though. It still baffles me that the royal family would choose to employ you as a mere maid-servant than as a commander. Or even as an instructor.
  162.
  163. Flora: ...
  164.
  165. Odin: ...Wh-what's with that dark expression? Have I touched a nerve?
  166. [wind sound]
  167. YIPE! Th-those doors, thrown open by some unknown force! And this...t-this cold front, l-l-like an impenetrable wall of ice...!
  168.
  169. Flora: I think it best if you go for now, Odin.
  170.
  171. Odin: Flora, I apologize, but--
  172.
  173. Flora: Odin.
  174. Please.
  175. Now.
  176.
  177. Odin: R-right.

  182.
  183. Flora: *sigh*
  184.
  185. Odin: Quite the sigh, there. I'd imagine even the great slumbering dragons of lore heard that one.
  186.
  187. Flora: Oh. H-hello, Odin. I...didn't hear you come up.
  188.
  189. Odin: Then it would seem my spell of fleet-footedness served its purpose well. Every time you see me approach, you backpedal and round a corner, leaving a flurry of snowflakes in your wake.
  190.
  191. Flora: I suppose I HAVE been avoiding you....
  192. Goodness, I'm just....
  193.
  194. Odin: Just what?
  195.
  196. Flora: Embarrassed. Odin, I shouldn't have reacted that way the other day.
  197. I apologize.
  198.
  199. Odin: Why?
  200.
  201. Flora: Why what?
  202.
  203. Odin: Why would you apologize, when there's been no transgressions? If anything, I should be the one apologizing. I overstepped my boundaries. I...I had no idea.
  204.
  205. Flora: Idea of what, exactly?
  206.
  207. Odin: Your true reasons for serving the royal family.
  208.
  209. Flora: ...I see. Who...who told you?
  210.
  211. Odin: Niles.
  212.
  213. Flora: Ah. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised he's figured it out.
  214.
  215. Odin: Flora, I.... I really am sorry. I didn't mean to rub at a sore spot. I honestly didn't know. Had I known you were essentially being held captive these years, I would never have brought it up.
  216.
  217. Flora: It's quite alright, Odin. You meant no harm.
  218.
  219. Odin: For what it's worth, though, I... I do think it's quite admirable, in a way.
  220.
  221. Flora: ...How so?
  222.
  223. Odin: Well, sure, you were forced to serve a liege that you never felt allegiance towards for a number of years, a pawn of a war.
  224.
  225. Flora: ....
  226.
  227. Odin: And yet you put up with it. You could have run, or tried to fight back. But your loyalty to your people won out, and you suffered in silence.
  228.
  229. Flora: That's not admirable, Odin. Many would call that cowardice.
  230.
  231. Odin: Nonsense. To raise a hand against the Nohrian royals would have led to your tribe meeting a gruesome end.
  232.
  233. Flora: I.... I do what I must, for the sake of the Ice Tribe.
  234.
  235. Odin: Exactly. The Ice Tribe is lucky enough to have someone so brave as their next leader.
  236.
  237. Flora: Odin.... Thank you. I-i.... I needed to hear that, I think.
  238.
  239. Odin: Of course. I'm happy to say it as many times as you like.
  240.
  241. Flora: ...You know, we never finished that lesson from before. Perhaps, if you're free and still interested, we could...pick back up?
  242.
  243. Odin: To learn the signature skills of the illustrious Princess of the Tundra? I'd be delighted.
  244.
  245. Flora: Well, then. Shall we?
