  1. Executive Assistant to the CEO - Application Due March 27th
  2. BOULDER UNREASONABLE GROUP FULL-TIME
  3. APPLY FOR THIS JOB
  4. At Unreasonable Group, we believe entrepreneurs building rapidly scalable businesses are our best bet for solving the most significant social and environmental challenges. Every day, our team strives to give these entrepreneurs tackling BFPs an unfair advantage. We do this by connecting entrepreneurs with the networks of mentors, investors, businesses, policy makers, and specialists they need to scale. We also run world class events and programs such as Unreasonable Impact in partnership with Barclays, Unreasonable Goals in partnership with the U.S. State Department, and Project Literacy in partnership with Pearson. To get a feel for what this looks and feels like, check out our Unreasonable Impact in 60 Seconds video.
  5.
  6. We are now on the search for an experienced Executive Assistant to the CEO; one who is a GYSHIDO master and voraciously passionate about execution, detail, communication, and putting a positive dent on history. To be really clear, we are not looking for someone who sees an EA position as a stepping stone to another job inside the organization, but rather a career role they love to do and want to grow within.
  7.
  8. Directly reporting to and working hand-in-hand with Daniel Epstein, our founder and CEO, the Executive Assistant is a crucial position on our team that supports the needs of our CEO and will in turn be one of the most critical roles across our organization. The ideal candidate for this role demonstrates strategic thinking and an ability to develop new (and run existing) project management and organizational systems; shows empathy and poise; has no problem speaking the truth to power; is obsessively detail oriented and addicted to research and implementation of tasks; ideally has an eye for design and most notably, has multiple years as an Executive Assistant to other CEOs.
  9.
  10. Responsibilities // We know it will take months if not years to work up to all these responsibilities, but wanted to be upfront about our hopes...
  11.
  12. Schedule meetings and manage complex calendars for the CEO (who oversees entire bodies of work and business units and manages multiple projects, client relationships, and numerous teams at all times).
  13.
  14. Provide strategic support to ensure that the CEO has the time, resources, and materials needed to accomplish his goals.
  15. Train our CEO on how to most effectively work with an Executive Assistant. You will be his first EA, and he is humble enough to know that he will need your help in understanding how to most effectively work together.
  16.
  17. Communicate regularly with the CEO, when he is in the office and working remotely (about 60% of his time he is traveling for work), to ensure he is apprised of changes to his calendar or to the work of his teams.
  18.
  19. Keep the CEO organized with meeting materials and immediate priorities (who needs what by when); this includes inbox management and communication/response strategies.
  20.
  21. Manage all incoming email and messages across all social media channels on behalf of the CEO, responding, organizing, and escalating priority messages when appropriate. Run errands on behalf of the CEO to ensure his bandwidth is as leveraged as possible for key priorities of strategic importance to the organization.
  22.
  23. Research, identify, and organize extensive lists of prospective investors, partners, entrepreneurs, etc., and reach out to them directly on behalf of the CEO to schedule meetings and extend relevant invitations.
  24.
  25. Help to organize, plan, and manage small events when requested by the CEO. Manage an often-changing calendar with internal and external parties utilizing multiple calendars.
  26.
  27. Manage a heavy travel schedule and arrange all of the CEO’s travel in accordance with his preferences and schedule — including upkeep of frequent flier accounts, flights, lodging, car service, physical activities, social engagements, business appointments, and special events, etc. as well as the arrangements for other accompanying parties, mostly utilizing online resources and anticipating many changes.
  28.
  29. Assess and prioritize all issues that require the attention of the CEO, and maintain proper record keeping and filing systems for all work.
  30.
  31. When requested, sit in on meetings with the CEO and take detailed notes, as well as communicate and manage follow up from all parties involved.
  32.
  33. Help manage the CEO’s social media accounts including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.
  34. Develop and maintain an accurate contact database, ensuring personal notes and customized gifts are sent out to key contacts and relationships of the CEO and Unreasonable when appropriate (ex: birthdays, holidays, or thank you packages for mentors after they participate in an Unreasonable program).
  35.
  36. Welcome the CEO’s guests by greeting them, in-person or on the telephone; answering or directing inquiries in a professional and personable manner.
  37.
  38. Prepare expense reports for CEO.
  39.
  40. Assist with the office administration of the company (i.e. the mail, coordination with our landlord on big events, and tactical company-wide emails).
  41.
  42. Who we're looking for // We know no one will meet all these criteria, but wanted to list out the types of attributes we are seeking...
  43.
  44. You must have at least 5 years of Executive Assistant experience in a fast-paced executive office.

  46.
  47. You are what we would refer to as a GyShiDo Master.
  48.
  49. You think and operate strategically. You are responsible for prioritization and planning. You are three steps ahead of the CEO, constantly anticipating problems and fixing them before they occur—then fixing them again when everything changes.
  50. You’re curious and passionate about entrepreneurs and BFPs – the rhythms and dynamics that make Unreasonable work – and are proactive in finding ways to enable our CEO and our business. You seek a deep understanding of the context of our work and use that understanding to prioritize and make trade-offs.
  51.
  52. You bring a fusion of systems thinking and creativity in your ability to see the whole picture, understand the complexity of our business, and use excellent judgment in finding innovative ways to get the work done.

  56. You recognize what’s most important to tackle, in what order, and are prepared to make informed, independent decisions.
  57. You take pride in accuracy and professionalism. You show great attention to detail, thoroughness, and follow-through; you believe that when work is done well, the magic is in the details.
  58.
  59. You don’t hesitate to speak truth to power. If the CEO is falling behind on key priorities or not being as effective as possible when strategy demands it, you will not hesitate to tell him that he needs to self-correct. You are candid, honest, and kind in your feedback, but you do not hold back.
  60.
