  1. Jeff the Killer Rewrite
  2. Retold by jpcreepy
  3. Randy swore he heard something faint in his room. He shivered as a cold breeze drifted in through his window. “I must have left it open,” he thought to himself. He passed off the noise as his imagination and got up and closed the window. Right then a rag went over his mouth and a sharp stabbing pain penetrated his spine.
  4. His legs stopped working as another painful stab went into his ribs. The attacker kept Randy's mouth covered and back supported as he lowered him to the floor. When he saw the face of his assailant, he attempted to scream. “Quiet now,” said the pale face with the blood painted lips. “Don't want to wake your folks. Just go to sleep.”
  5. Randy attempted to fight, but not even his arms worked. He felt every bit of his life draining from him and all the killer did was smile.

  7. Jeff's family had just moved to a new state and into a housing development. His father had lost his previous job because of layoffs. Somehow he'd managed to get a nice cozy office position with a new company. They were in the SUV when his mom turned off the radio and spoke, “Wow.” Jeff's mom pointed with one manicured nail. “That house is cute. You know honey, maybe one day we can move into something that fancy?”
  8. Jeff rolled his eyes and went back to playing video games. His dad chimed in, “What do you kids think? Would you guys like to live in something that nice?”
  9. His older brother Liu was the first to respond. “Sure dad! Bet it would be a great place for wild parties.” Everyone was smiling and laughing, except for Jeff.
  10. “Jeff, honey,” his mother had interrupted his concentration. Now he was watching his tiny-pixelated character die.
  11. “What mom?” He said in an agitated tone.
  12. “I know you're upset, but you will make new friends.” His mom was giving him that fake smile that he hated. Before Jeff even replied she cut him off. “Hey, we're here.”

  14. The next morning there were boxes that still needed unpacking. Instead of doing that Jeff and Liu were both standing at the bus stop. His father had already headed off to work and his mother was chatting up neighbors. “Hey,” Liu said, nudging his younger brother with an elbow. “Want to see something neat?”
  15. “Whatever,” Jeff shrugged.
  16. His brother was grinning from ear to ear. “Remember that teacher you had a crush on? Mrs. Rainschild, I believe her name was.”
  17. Jeff's cheeks flushed, but yeah he remembered. “What boy wouldn't?”
  18. Liu unzipped his book bag and pulled out a sheet of paper. He handed it to Jeff. Jeff blushed more when he saw what it was. It was Mrs. Rainschild dressed in scantly clothes on her desk. Uttering the phrase. “I'm ready Jeff.”
  19. Jeff playfully punched his brother in the arm and his brother returned the favor. Liu told his brother, “Make sure you hide that from mom. I can just imagine the cow she'd have.”
  20. “Cow?” Jeff sneered as he put the paper in his book bag. “She would have a full-size whale.” Another a group of kids showed up on skateboards.
  21. They were a mismatched bunch. One was average height for his age and average weight. The one beside him was as skinny as a pencil and the last one needed to lay off the burgers. The average one spoke. “It looks like we have some new kids in town,” He smirked. “What's your names?”
  22. “Mines Liu and this is Jeff,” Liu said.
  23. “Liu and Jeff,” The average one grinned. “Well, I'm Randy. This here is Keith.” Randy pointed at the skinny kid and punched the fat one in the gut. “And this is Troy.” They both nodded.
  24. “Pleased to meet you,” Liu stuck out his hand. Randy slapped it away.
  25. “Here's the deal,” he said with a finger in Liu's face. “You pay us not to kick your ass on a daily basis and we'll be good friends.” Liu sucker punched Randy in the face.
  26. Randy's goons were on Liu before any more punches were thrown. They started punching him in the gut. Liu managed to shove one of them to the ground. Jeff without thinking jumped on the last one, trying to pull him off. Jeff got turned around and met a knee to his face and then he greeted the ground.
  27. Jeff began to get up, but he stumbled back down. His head was spinning. He could see through his blurry vision that Randy and thugs were beating the shit of his brother. Jeff felt something leak from his nose. He put his hand over it and pulled it away. It was blood. It glistened in the sun.
  28. Jeff snapped. He grabbed a skateboard and charged. He smacked Randy in the back of the head. He went down hard. Troy backed away when he realized what was happening. Jeff turned his rage on Keith. Keith was on the ground crying, bleeding as Jeff beat him again and again. It took the bus driver, Jeff's mom, a neighbor and Liu to pull Jeff off.

  30. Jeff was raking leaves for community service. Liu, Troy, Keith, and Randy were working alongside him. He still remembered the chewing out him and his brother got. “I can't believe you two were fighting,” his mother's shrill voice rang in his ears. “What are the neighbors going to think?” She smacked Jeff upside the head. “I don't imagine they will talk to us now. Especially, when I've raised little criminals like you.”
  31. “Honey don't,” his father whined. She slapped him too.
  32. “If you were a man, maybe, these two wouldn't act this way.” She stomped her feet upstairs crying.
  33. Randy was lucky not to get a concussion. Keith, though, ended up getting a broken arm and a black eye. The worse victim, though, was the skateboard. Jeff had caught a glimpse of it, after the incident. One of the wheels had come off. The board itself splintered in different places and was coated in blood. Jeff shook the image from his mind and continued working.

  35. Jeff sat in his room listening to music on his headphones. Every now and again, he stared at the picture of Mrs. Rainschild. His brother was a fantastic artist. Jeff always imagined himself with Mrs. Rainschild. Kissing her, feeling her nice soft body against his. Of course, he knew it was a boyhood crush.
  36. Now that he was in the eighth grade, something about her just didn't do it for him. He couldn't figure it out. Finally, he took a red pen and put a line across her throat.

  38. It had been months since the fight and Jeff figured that the whole thing was forgotten. He had taken to walking home from school. In the last few months, Jeff had withdrawn from the rest of his family. His brother Liu found a girlfriend and now had his license. His mom was on the PTA, joined a home cell group, and was part of a knitting club. His father was working himself into the grave. Every day when he saw his the old man, his eyes were dark and puffy.
  39. Jeff kicked a can down an ally, it banged and clanked. He hung his head and sighed. He then heard a familiar voice, “Hey asshole.” It was Randy. Jeff looked up and saw a gun pointed at his face. Something hard came down over his knee and he buckled because of the pain.
  40. The barrel of the gun was now pressed against his head. “Did you think we would forget, punk?” Randy smacked him in the nose with the gun and blood spurted.
  41. Keith walked over, he was holding a baseball bat. “Remember what you did to my arm. Now I'm going to do the same to your skull.” The bat came down across Jeff's limbs and head and he even took a blow between his legs. Troy walked over laughing and urinated on Jeff. They left him there bloodied, bruised, smelling of piss and he couldn't move.

  43. Jeff woke up days later. Bandages were wrapped around the majority of his body. He could only look out one eye. He could hear the doctor talking to his parents, “We managed to reconstruct most of his face. It was badly damaged.”
  44. His mother didn't even cry. “What a bitch,” Jeff thought. “I should gut her.”
  45. Jeff listened as the doctor went on, “As for his ability to walk. Physical therapy should help with that,” Jeff ended up falling asleep.
  46. Nightmares plagued him while in recovery. Ones where he was running through a maze. Behind him, he heard someone calling his name. “Jeff,” it said. “Jeff, come out and play.” No matter, which way he turned, it always caught him. It was a pale face, it had red lips and black eyes. It's black greasy hair hung down over it's shoulders. “Jeff,” the monster said. “We have things to do. People to kill.”
  47. Jeff shook his head at the monster. “I don't want to kill anyone. I don't want to hurt people.”
  48. “Oh come on,” the monster smiled. It had too many teeth for a humanoid. “You enjoy it. Remember how hard you were when beating Keith.”
  49. “No, no,” Jeff protested shaking his head. “That's not me.”
  50. The monster came forward and sunk its claws into Jeff's heart. “Of course, it is, boy. Now get better and we can start the party.”

  52. The police visited Jeff off and on. Each time they pressured him into telling them who jumped him. “Son,” the officer this time was a round fellow with a shaved head. “Are you ready to tell us who did this?” Jeff as always remained silent.
  53. When Jeff got out of the hospital, he still wouldn't speak and had shut himself away in his bedroom. There he stared into his own reflection. They had done a number on him. There was a long indent where his nose broke. The rest of his face had scars, deep ones. He started to laugh.
  54. He continued laughing when his dad knocked at the door, “Jeff,” his dad sounded worried. “Are you okay in there?”
  55. “Yeah dad,” Jeff's lips went wide. “I'm just looking at how beautiful I am.”
  56. His dad paused, “Well when you're done. Your mother has dinner ready. Your favorite.”
  57. After dinner, Jeff waited until everyone was asleep. He stepped into the bathroom and locked the door. Jeff used left over Halloween makeup to paint his monster. The face became pale with white face paint. The eyes became dark with eyeshadow and his lips red with lipstick. Jeff looked at the monster from his nightmare in the mirror and it smiled back.

  59. Jeff's mom rolled over in the middle of the night to hold her husband. As she put her arm around him she felt something sticky. She pulled her hand away thinking he was gross with sweat. Instead of something clear, her hand had something dark on it. She turned him over and tried to scream, but someone curved a smiled across her throat.
  60. “Quiet now,” her killer whispered as she bled out. The face standing over her was hideous. It was like the devil himself stood before her, watching her die. “Just go to sleep, mother.”
  61. ***
  62. The back door slammed shut. Liu woke up and walked out into the hall. “Mom, dad,” he called. No one answered. He checked Jeff's room, but there was no one there. “Probably in the bathroom,” he thought. He then walked into his mother and father's room and lost his lunch. He started to breathe heavily and in the confusion somehow called the police. He leaned against the wall crying as the nine, one, one operator said, “We're sending police now. They should arrive in a few minutes.”
  63. ***
  64. The next morning, the news caught wind of the murders. Someone had killed five people in one night. The suburban neighborhood where nothing bad happened shook to the core. First the youth were starting street fights and now this. Troy and Keith were at their homes with stab wounds covering their throat and genitals. As for Jeff, no one ever found him. There are still some highway murders fitting the MO. Some say that a boy in his preteens was witnessed fleeing the scene of some of the murders.
