  1. >It’s late March, almost April.
  2. >You roll over in your side in the bed as the sun peeks its way through the curtains.
  3. >You woke up from a dream…a flashback rather.
  4. >Twilight lies next to you in the same position you were in months ago when Fluttershy straddled you.
  5. >When Fluttershy tried to carry out her wish to have you as her boyfriend for her birthday…
  6. >…By drugging you and attempting to rape you.
  7. >You know, normal birthday girl stuff.
  8. >Things were different then.
  9. >You were uncertain about your girlfriend’s feelings for you; always stumbling over your words, failing at attempts to read her advances…
  10. >But now you know for sure: Twilight Sparkle and you are deeply in love.
  11. >You watch her stir in her sleep next to you.
  12. >And then there’s your neighbor, Fluttershy.
  13. >When you first met her, you gathered that she was a caring and sweet pony.
  14. >She seemed nice enough to you…maybe just a little lonely.
  15. >You met her when you went there to trim her hedges. Thinking back now, you should have gone home and never looked back.
  16. >That’s not true. You can faintly see Fluttershy’s cottage from your house anyways.
  17. >Everything that happened was inevitable you suppose, at least that’s what you tell yourself to help cope.
  18. >Twilight awakens and throws her arm around you as she pulls you in for a morning embrace.
  19. >You snuggle up next to her as she gives you a devious smile.
  20. >”Hey there sleepy…too bright for you?”
  21. What?
  22. >The curtains are thrust open in one magic-fuelled action.
  23. >THE SUN BURNS LIKE FUCK.
  24. >YOUR EYES MELT.
  25. >You put the blanket over your face to shield yourself from Celestia’s wrath.
  26. >Twilight’s hearty giggles are muffled by the comforter.
  27. Yes. Maybe a little too much even.
  28. >Your voice carries a dull amusement at her little prank.
  29. >After her moment of joy has ended, Twilight joins you under the covers.
  30. >The two of you hold each others’ …hands…hooves…?
  31. >Well, the both of you touch grabbers…yeah…
  32. >You couldn’t ask for much more in this moment right now. Being here, with Twilight…it’s more than anything you could hope for.
  33. > Gardening season is starting again; it’ll be nice to go to work with a smile on your face for a change.
  34. >You haven’t been too public with your newfound happiness. Sure, you went to Pinkie’s birthday party…but that was about it.
  35. >You and Twilight have been cooped up in her house ever since you decided to move it with her; there hasn’t been a reason to go home really. Everything you need is right here…right next to you, in your hands.
  36. >Twilight looks up at you.
  37. >”So...is today the day? Are you sure you don’t need any help?”
  38. >She looks eager to assist you, but it’s really nothing you can’t handle on your own.
  39. >You bring her hoof to your mouth and kiss it,
  40. Yeah, today’s the day. Don’t worry…I’ll have everything back here in a flash. It won’t take any more than a few trips.
  41. >Twilight lets out a gentle sigh and nuzzles your neck,
  42. >”I’ll be lonely without you…”
  43. >Her sighs are adorable to you…like the gentle whisper of a butterfly is your ear.
  44. >You stroke her mane to reassure her.
  45. It won’t be too long, don’t worry. Why don’t you read?
  46. >She would have anyways.
  47. >Twilight fetches the book you borrowed from her so many months ago from her night stand.
  48. >You plant a kiss on her forehead before leaving the safety of your girlfriend’s bed…
  49. >Well…it’s your bed now, too. It’s hard to get used to it; not having to go home…near Fluttershy’s house.
  50. >The way you see it, the more distance between you and her, the better. No doubt about it.
  51. >Pants on. Shirt on. Shoes on.
  52. >You head downstairs to grab a sip of freshly heated coffee, courtesy of Spike.
  53. >As you head out the door, you hear him call out to you.
  54. >”…are you sure you don’t need any help?”
  55. I’m fine! Thanks though!
  56. >The door latches behind you as you breathe in the sweet, warm air.
  57. >After a few stretches, you decide you can’t avoid it anymore.
  58. Well…here I go…
  59. >You set off down the path towards the edge of town.
  60. >Towards the forest.
  61. >As you pass all the houses and overgrown yards of the Ponyville citizens who have come to accept you, you see the topiary in the town center.
  62. >You stand motionless.
  63. >It’s still there, but the winter and time have started to reclaim it. The lines are becoming fuzzy and obscured.
  64. >Maybe someday you’ll touch it up a bit, or maybe make a new one altogether.
  65. >Or maybe…maybe you’ll just leave it.
  66. >You think back to when you first took up your shears and carved out the shrub stallion. At the time you were a loner: unaccepted and shunned in the new society you were forced to inhabit.
  67. >Topiary is what made you unique in this world, something that you could have as your own when you had nothing else.
  68. >But it also made Lyra utterly obsessed with you…slight drawback to you.
  69. >You’d never admit it to anyone, but gardening might have kept you alive in Equestria by keeping you sane.
  70. >You ponder what could have been as you exit the town.
  71. >Before you know it, the flat terrain of Ponyville gives way to the gentle hills surrounding it.
  72. >The grass is just starting to take to the warm weather and spring back to life.
  73. >Maybe that’s why they call it “Spring”.
  74. >Duh.
  75. >As you keep walking, you can faintly see a structure protruding from a small hill in the distance.
  76. Home.
  77. >You’ve been putting off getting your gardening tools and clothes from home for a while now.
  78. >You figure you better do it to show Twilight you really are committed to her.
  79. >She is so dear to your heart.
  80. >As you walk farther away from town, you suddenly stop dead in your tracks and look around.
  81. >This is it.
  82. >This is the exact spot where you met Fluttershy, all those months ago.
  83. >You wonder why she sticks in your mind so much…especially lately.
  84. >Well she drugged you, stalked you, and tried to rape you…
  85. >Oh yeah. That’s why.
  86. >Not to mention that the two of you are the only ones who know about that. You really hope it stays that way forever.
  87. >No…you can’t keep a secret like that from Twilight. Besides, you didn’t even do anything!
  88. >The rain clouds are moving in. You remember that Rainbow Dash told you and Twilight that the pegasi were going to start the rainy season a little early this year.
  89. >The rain will make the plants grow faster and sooner to let you do your job.
  90. >Thunder rumbles in the distance as a small drop of rain falls on your nose.
  91. >Right. Onward you go…to glory!
  92. >No. Just for pants.
  93. >The rain falls harder as you open the gate to your house and rush inside.
  94. >Surprisingly, the door opens right away…you guess locking it wasn’t a priority.
  95. >You shake the water out of your hair as you toss your keys carelessly into the bowl like a forgotten instinct.
  96. >A loud crash follows as the blue porcelain connects with the floor, shattering in a few uneven pieces.
  97. Fuck.
  98. >You kneel down and collect the shards. For a moment you could have sworn you heard something else.
  99. >You wait in silence while bent over, trying to hear for it again.
  100. >But…
  101. >Nothing. Just the thunder, becoming more and more violent.
  102. >The house is dim, time to turn on some lights.
  103. >You head to the bedroom for a fresh change of clothes.
  104. >The closet is thrust open to reveal your meager wardrobe: a few button-up shirts, a coat, a few pairs of rugged work jeans, a yellow pegasus, your work shoes…
  105. >You pick out a shirt and slide your current soaked one off.
  106. >In the stillness of your empty room you stretch your muscles with a few satisfied moans.
  107. >Through the patter of the raindrops hitting your bedroom window, you swear you heard that noise again. Positive.
  108. >It was behind you…in the closet…
  109. >You dig past a few shirts.
  110. >”…H-Home so soon, honey?”
  111. >You leap back 1,000 feet at the sound of Fluttershy’s voice.
  112. >She pokes her head out of the clothes, sleeves hanging on her ears like floppy rabbit ears.
  113. >You are stunned. Absolutely motionless.
  114. >Fluttershy broke into your house! How did she know you’d be stopping by today of all days?
  115. >Your mind is racing with questions: is something wrong? Did she get kicked out of her home? Is she here to murder you? To apologize? Was she escaping the rain?
  116. >But mostly, you just want to know if you shit your pants or not.
  117. >You take a breath and sit on your bed, planting your head in your hands.
  118. >Fluttershy sneaks her way out of your closet and inches closer towards you.
  119. >You look up at her with disgust and confusion.
  120. >She’s getting closer and closer; while you crawl away.
  121. No…no, you stay the heck AWAY from me…
  122. >You put firmness in your voice. Fluttershy picks up on it and stops dead in her tracks.
  123. >”Wh-what’s wrong, mister? Aren’t you glad to see me? To see…your…g-girlfriend?”
  124. >Her eyes light up and her own words.
  125. >You, however, aren’t so thrilled with them.
  126. You…where do I even start. You DRUGGED me, attempted to…have sex, or whatever, with me. THEN, you almost cost me my entire relationship with Twilight.
  127. >You rise to your feet, towering over the now quivering mare.
  128. Do you have ANY idea how absolutely reckless and insensitive that is?
  129. >A loud crack of thunder accompanies your anger. The perfect timing surprises you.
  130. >By now Fluttershy is hugging the ground on the verge of tears.
  131. >A calm sweeps over you. You take a breath. You flew off the handle a little too fast…maybe overreacted.
  132. Look. I’m sorry. You startled me is all. What in the world are you doing here anyways?
  133. >She seems to have calmed as well. She looks up at you.
  134. >”Well…I’ve been here every single night since my birthday party…”
  135. >Okay. Maybe you were right to worry.
  136. And…why is that exactly?
  137. >Fluttershy hops into the bed next to you and rubs her head gently on your arm.
  138. >”Oh, Anonymous…because you’re m-my boyfriend, remember?”
  139. >How could you possibly forget?
  140. >The night is burned into your memory.
  141. >”…a-and I need my, uhm…hedges trimmed again…a-and some garden work done…”
  142. >That’s probably a lie.
  143. >Anything to get you back to her house.
  144. >You sigh and stare at the grain pattern of the hardwood flooring.
  145. >This is all too much for you at once.
  146. >You just want to fall into oblivion and have Fluttershy disappear.
  147. >You flop backwards and stare at your ceiling, just like you do when you’re in bed alone.
  148. >Except you aren’t alone this time.
  149. >Fluttershy peers over you, blocking your view.
  150. >”I-is something w-wrong, h-honey…?”
  151. >You just want to disappear. Anything to escape.
  152. >A shower. Good enough.
  153. >You get off the bed and fetch a chair from the kitchen in silence.
  154. >Fluttershy calls out to you from your bedroom, but you ignore her.
  155. >Not even a second later, she flutters next to you as you take your time heading to the bathroom.
  156. >”What are we going to do in th-the bathroom, An-nonymous?”
  157. >You step in the doorway, making sure there’s an invisible barrier between the two of you.
  158. WE are not doing anything. I am taking a shower in MY bathroom. I’d really like it if you’d leave.
  159. >Before you give her a chance to stutter you slam the door in her face, taking the chair in with you.
  160. >You lock the door, and prop the chair against the door for added security.
  161. >Fluttershy talks to you beyond the barrier of the door, but the storm and shower drown her out.
  162. >The shower’s water is hot on your skin.
  163. >You sit on the floor of the stall while the water runs off of your shoulders.
  164. This isn’t what I wanted…
  165. >You want to stay in here forever and never come out.
  166. >Outside she’s waiting for you…
  167. >Fucking Fluttershy.
