- >It’s late March, almost April.
- >You roll over in your side in the bed as the sun peeks its way through the curtains.
- >You woke up from a dream…a flashback rather.
- >Twilight lies next to you in the same position you were in months ago when Fluttershy straddled you.
- >When Fluttershy tried to carry out her wish to have you as her boyfriend for her birthday…
- >…By drugging you and attempting to rape you.
- >You know, normal birthday girl stuff.
- >Things were different then.
- >You were uncertain about your girlfriend’s feelings for you; always stumbling over your words, failing at attempts to read her advances…
- >But now you know for sure: Twilight Sparkle and you are deeply in love.
- >You watch her stir in her sleep next to you.
- >And then there’s your neighbor, Fluttershy.
- >When you first met her, you gathered that she was a caring and sweet pony.
- >She seemed nice enough to you…maybe just a little lonely.
- >You met her when you went there to trim her hedges. Thinking back now, you should have gone home and never looked back.
- >That’s not true. You can faintly see Fluttershy’s cottage from your house anyways.
- >Everything that happened was inevitable you suppose, at least that’s what you tell yourself to help cope.
- >Twilight awakens and throws her arm around you as she pulls you in for a morning embrace.
- >You snuggle up next to her as she gives you a devious smile.
- >”Hey there sleepy…too bright for you?”
- What?
- >The curtains are thrust open in one magic-fuelled action.
- >THE SUN BURNS LIKE FUCK.
- >YOUR EYES MELT.
- >You put the blanket over your face to shield yourself from Celestia’s wrath.
- >Twilight’s hearty giggles are muffled by the comforter.
- Yes. Maybe a little too much even.
- >Your voice carries a dull amusement at her little prank.
- >After her moment of joy has ended, Twilight joins you under the covers.
- >The two of you hold each others’ …hands…hooves…?
- >Well, the both of you touch grabbers…yeah…
- >You couldn’t ask for much more in this moment right now. Being here, with Twilight…it’s more than anything you could hope for.
- > Gardening season is starting again; it’ll be nice to go to work with a smile on your face for a change.
- >You haven’t been too public with your newfound happiness. Sure, you went to Pinkie’s birthday party…but that was about it.
- >You and Twilight have been cooped up in her house ever since you decided to move it with her; there hasn’t been a reason to go home really. Everything you need is right here…right next to you, in your hands.
- >Twilight looks up at you.
- >”So...is today the day? Are you sure you don’t need any help?”
- >She looks eager to assist you, but it’s really nothing you can’t handle on your own.
- >You bring her hoof to your mouth and kiss it,
- Yeah, today’s the day. Don’t worry…I’ll have everything back here in a flash. It won’t take any more than a few trips.
- >Twilight lets out a gentle sigh and nuzzles your neck,
- >”I’ll be lonely without you…”
- >Her sighs are adorable to you…like the gentle whisper of a butterfly is your ear.
- >You stroke her mane to reassure her.
- It won’t be too long, don’t worry. Why don’t you read?
- >She would have anyways.
- >Twilight fetches the book you borrowed from her so many months ago from her night stand.
- >You plant a kiss on her forehead before leaving the safety of your girlfriend’s bed…
- >Well…it’s your bed now, too. It’s hard to get used to it; not having to go home…near Fluttershy’s house.
- >The way you see it, the more distance between you and her, the better. No doubt about it.
- >Pants on. Shirt on. Shoes on.
- >You head downstairs to grab a sip of freshly heated coffee, courtesy of Spike.
- >As you head out the door, you hear him call out to you.
- >”…are you sure you don’t need any help?”
- I’m fine! Thanks though!
- >The door latches behind you as you breathe in the sweet, warm air.
- >After a few stretches, you decide you can’t avoid it anymore.
- Well…here I go…
- >You set off down the path towards the edge of town.
- >Towards the forest.
- >As you pass all the houses and overgrown yards of the Ponyville citizens who have come to accept you, you see the topiary in the town center.
- >You stand motionless.
- >It’s still there, but the winter and time have started to reclaim it. The lines are becoming fuzzy and obscured.
- >Maybe someday you’ll touch it up a bit, or maybe make a new one altogether.
- >Or maybe…maybe you’ll just leave it.
- >You think back to when you first took up your shears and carved out the shrub stallion. At the time you were a loner: unaccepted and shunned in the new society you were forced to inhabit.
- >Topiary is what made you unique in this world, something that you could have as your own when you had nothing else.
- >But it also made Lyra utterly obsessed with you…slight drawback to you.
- >You’d never admit it to anyone, but gardening might have kept you alive in Equestria by keeping you sane.
- >You ponder what could have been as you exit the town.
- >Before you know it, the flat terrain of Ponyville gives way to the gentle hills surrounding it.
- >The grass is just starting to take to the warm weather and spring back to life.
- >Maybe that’s why they call it “Spring”.
- >Duh.
- >As you keep walking, you can faintly see a structure protruding from a small hill in the distance.
- Home.
- >You’ve been putting off getting your gardening tools and clothes from home for a while now.
- >You figure you better do it to show Twilight you really are committed to her.
- >She is so dear to your heart.
- >As you walk farther away from town, you suddenly stop dead in your tracks and look around.
- >This is it.
- >This is the exact spot where you met Fluttershy, all those months ago.
- >You wonder why she sticks in your mind so much…especially lately.
- >Well she drugged you, stalked you, and tried to rape you…
- >Oh yeah. That’s why.
- >Not to mention that the two of you are the only ones who know about that. You really hope it stays that way forever.
- >No…you can’t keep a secret like that from Twilight. Besides, you didn’t even do anything!
- >The rain clouds are moving in. You remember that Rainbow Dash told you and Twilight that the pegasi were going to start the rainy season a little early this year.
- >The rain will make the plants grow faster and sooner to let you do your job.
- >Thunder rumbles in the distance as a small drop of rain falls on your nose.
- >Right. Onward you go…to glory!
- >No. Just for pants.
- >The rain falls harder as you open the gate to your house and rush inside.
- >Surprisingly, the door opens right away…you guess locking it wasn’t a priority.
- >You shake the water out of your hair as you toss your keys carelessly into the bowl like a forgotten instinct.
- >A loud crash follows as the blue porcelain connects with the floor, shattering in a few uneven pieces.
- Fuck.
- >You kneel down and collect the shards. For a moment you could have sworn you heard something else.
- >You wait in silence while bent over, trying to hear for it again.
- >But…
- >Nothing. Just the thunder, becoming more and more violent.
- >The house is dim, time to turn on some lights.
- >You head to the bedroom for a fresh change of clothes.
- >The closet is thrust open to reveal your meager wardrobe: a few button-up shirts, a coat, a few pairs of rugged work jeans, a yellow pegasus, your work shoes…
- >You pick out a shirt and slide your current soaked one off.
- >In the stillness of your empty room you stretch your muscles with a few satisfied moans.
- >Through the patter of the raindrops hitting your bedroom window, you swear you heard that noise again. Positive.
- >It was behind you…in the closet…
- >You dig past a few shirts.
- >”…H-Home so soon, honey?”
- >You leap back 1,000 feet at the sound of Fluttershy’s voice.
- >She pokes her head out of the clothes, sleeves hanging on her ears like floppy rabbit ears.
- >You are stunned. Absolutely motionless.
- >Fluttershy broke into your house! How did she know you’d be stopping by today of all days?
- >Your mind is racing with questions: is something wrong? Did she get kicked out of her home? Is she here to murder you? To apologize? Was she escaping the rain?
- >But mostly, you just want to know if you shit your pants or not.
- >You take a breath and sit on your bed, planting your head in your hands.
- >Fluttershy sneaks her way out of your closet and inches closer towards you.
- >You look up at her with disgust and confusion.
- >She’s getting closer and closer; while you crawl away.
- No…no, you stay the heck AWAY from me…
- >You put firmness in your voice. Fluttershy picks up on it and stops dead in her tracks.
- >”Wh-what’s wrong, mister? Aren’t you glad to see me? To see…your…g-girlfriend?”
- >Her eyes light up and her own words.
- >You, however, aren’t so thrilled with them.
- You…where do I even start. You DRUGGED me, attempted to…have sex, or whatever, with me. THEN, you almost cost me my entire relationship with Twilight.
- >You rise to your feet, towering over the now quivering mare.
- Do you have ANY idea how absolutely reckless and insensitive that is?
- >A loud crack of thunder accompanies your anger. The perfect timing surprises you.
- >By now Fluttershy is hugging the ground on the verge of tears.
- >A calm sweeps over you. You take a breath. You flew off the handle a little too fast…maybe overreacted.
- Look. I’m sorry. You startled me is all. What in the world are you doing here anyways?
- >She seems to have calmed as well. She looks up at you.
- >”Well…I’ve been here every single night since my birthday party…”
- >Okay. Maybe you were right to worry.
- And…why is that exactly?
- >Fluttershy hops into the bed next to you and rubs her head gently on your arm.
- >”Oh, Anonymous…because you’re m-my boyfriend, remember?”
- >How could you possibly forget?
- >The night is burned into your memory.
- >”…a-and I need my, uhm…hedges trimmed again…a-and some garden work done…”
- >That’s probably a lie.
- >Anything to get you back to her house.
- >You sigh and stare at the grain pattern of the hardwood flooring.
- >This is all too much for you at once.
- >You just want to fall into oblivion and have Fluttershy disappear.
- >You flop backwards and stare at your ceiling, just like you do when you’re in bed alone.
- >Except you aren’t alone this time.
- >Fluttershy peers over you, blocking your view.
- >”I-is something w-wrong, h-honey…?”
- >You just want to disappear. Anything to escape.
- >A shower. Good enough.
- >You get off the bed and fetch a chair from the kitchen in silence.
- >Fluttershy calls out to you from your bedroom, but you ignore her.
- >Not even a second later, she flutters next to you as you take your time heading to the bathroom.
- >”What are we going to do in th-the bathroom, An-nonymous?”
- >You step in the doorway, making sure there’s an invisible barrier between the two of you.
- WE are not doing anything. I am taking a shower in MY bathroom. I’d really like it if you’d leave.
- >Before you give her a chance to stutter you slam the door in her face, taking the chair in with you.
- >You lock the door, and prop the chair against the door for added security.
- >Fluttershy talks to you beyond the barrier of the door, but the storm and shower drown her out.
- >The shower’s water is hot on your skin.
- >You sit on the floor of the stall while the water runs off of your shoulders.
- This isn’t what I wanted…
- >You want to stay in here forever and never come out.
- >Outside she’s waiting for you…
- >Fucking Fluttershy.
