  1. The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. The subtitle was Prufrock among the Women. The other half “The love song of…” bit came from the Kipling poem “The Love Song of Har Dayal”. Prufrock is said to be derived from the German word “Prufstein” meaning touchstone
