“So… they’re almost here?”

The small young woman doesn’t even turn to look at the other woman in the room as she sits down next to her, just sighs as she leans on her.

“Yeah. The trials are complete. They’re ascending the tower. Looks like it’s almost time to say goodbye…” The second woman, hooded so you can’t see her face, looks down at the ground.

“You can always come visit this incarnation of me in Heaven, you know… when it happens.” The first woman smiles. “Need I remind you that I’m not the first incarnation of me you’ve befriended… just the most lonesome. I need to thank you for keeping me company in my final days…”

“I was happy to do it… I’m going to miss you, you know.”

“You don’t need to miss me. You have me in all those other universes. And you have my sister and my moms in those universes too… Remember how you told me we met in the first universe?”

“I was guiding your soul back to the world of the living… on the call of your sister.”

“That’s right… How is she doing?”

“Fair enough… she’s settled back into some semblance of normalcy. Very happy. We go do things together a lot…”

It’s at this point that the Sorceress notes that the second woman doesn’t have her usual chipper tone of voice. “You’re rather calm today…”

“Guess I’m just… sad. Sad to lose a friend.”

“I told you, you haven’t lost me. Not in this universe, not in any universe.”

“S’pose that’s one way to look at it.”

“Honey, there’s no getting around it. I want to die in this universe. There’s no need for me to stay around any longer. If the man with the fancy hair is any indication, they have a set of gods already. Ones that took the place of everyone long ago… Suppose once I go, it’ll be the same for me. Don’t think I’ll get to choose, but I hope she’s pretty.”

The second woman smiles. “I’m sure she will be.”

“There we go. I’ll be fine. I’ll get to be with my family again… and maybe make amends with my friends too, if they’re there… Can’t say I’d complain if they weren’t after that fight, but it would make me feel better…”

“Mmm… do you know how it’s going to happen?”

“No, but I’m sure it’ll come to me when it does… You do know how to get into Heaven here, right?”

“Yeah, my mom’s the goddess of death here too.”

“Then I think we’ll see each other again… and I’ll be happy and ready to greet you when you do.”

“I think I’d like that… Hey. Hey you wanna give a game or two a run, one last time? Before the big event anyway… I’m sure they have games up there we can play.

“….I think we can do that.”
