- <nyttyn> Honestly I wish QD didn't have the +1 spdef
- <nyttyn> It'd be a lot easier to argue for.
- <DHR> if it was special DD then yeah
- <DHR> Would it be worth someone saying we could make a sig move for that?
- <nyttyn> Yeah
- <nyttyn> I think it's worth it at this point.
- <jas61292> I'd still be against it. Volcarona's vey existance mean it just detracts from the point of the CAP project
- <DHR> I know it's usually frowned upon
- <DHR> I guess
- <imanalt> someone did i think
- <nyttyn> Yeah, someone posted about it
- <DHR> We are almost making Volc 2.0 at this point
- <nyttyn> And Jas, that's like saying because we might give it DD we're making Dragontie 2.0
- <jas61292> Not at all. Dragonite is not similar to us AND is not risky
- <nyttyn> There is a shitton of things different from Aurumoth compared to Volcarona.
- <nyttyn> Lower speed, better overall bulk, vastly superior abilities, better coverage, and a different secondary STAB.
- <nyttyn> Slower, and with 1 point less SpATk.
- <nyttyn> Just because they share one move and bug typing doesn't make them similar.
- <jas61292> Sure, you can list differences. But in function, it would work the same, but with better typing (offensively and defensively) and bulk in exchange for less power and speed. What is that? Less risk. Less Reward. It is that simple. There is nothing more to it
- <nyttyn> OH HEY GUYS
- <nyttyn> all dragons that learn dragon dance are smiliar because they work the same.
- <DHR> Not really
- <jas61292> This is not about similarity. This is about the fact that not only is it similar it is LESS RISKY.
- <jas61292> QD Aurumoth would be a failure of concept cause it won't teach us anything we don't already know thanks to Volc
- <nyttyn> You seem to think that Quiver Dance will be the only set ever used, as opposed to the vairety of other sets that are on the table
- <DHR> QD would be the most popular
- <nyttyn> Such as no guard scarfer, countercoat sash illusion lead, dual screen suicider, dragon dancer setup, trick room
- <DHR> Who is going to use this as a dual screen suicider?
- <nyttyn> Someone, somewhere, although it'll be strictly inferior to latias.
- <jas61292> I don't care how much use it would see. I care that it is a failure. If a move can cause a CAP to fail you don't go "well, there will be other sets so who cares?" you say "NO. We will not allow a move that goes against our concept"
- <nyttyn> I don't think the move will cause the CAP to fail.
- <nyttyn> Just the oppisite - I think it cannot succeed without it.
- <nyttyn> Mostly thanks to the horrible, horrendus speed tier.
- <nyttyn> If we were dealing with, say, 100 base speed I'd be fine with calm mind, but this is 94 base speed, which is garbage for a offensive OU mon.
- <jas61292> What is success to you? Being good in OU? That is not success for the CAP project. I'm not going to say I think we will necessarily be amazing. I don't know. But the goal should be to learn about risk. Making a less risky version of a OU Pokemon just because we think it needs to have it to be good it not how we should be thinking about it.
