(7:12:55 PM) Ethan: He yawns like a bear coming out of hibernation.
(7:12:59 PM) Prof: Lt. Chugach gives the details - where you're being sent (Northern Siberia, expect it to be fucking cold), where the target is (About 2 kilometers to the Northeast of the drop point), how many students are in danger (24 plus Selena), and how many Hollows you can expect to be waiting for you (exact number unknown, but probably somewhere in the double digits).

(7:14:01 PM) Eric: In deference to the weather, Yuu has a scarf
(7:14:22 PM) Prof: A few hours later - a few seconds in real-world time - you emerge atop a snow-covered hill. The sun is setting, and wind is blowing a light haze of snow.
(7:15:16 PM) Prof: It's a good distance to the target point, but you can see signs of it from here - some kind of golden light, and a number of tiny black shapes outlined against the snow.
(7:15:28 PM) Ethan: Igor: "Aaaaaah, frigid wind is bracing!"
(7:16:03 PM) Eric: Yuu: "We don't have time to waste. We should get there as quick as possible."
(7:16:20 PM) Eric: Off he goes!
(7:16:35 PM) Foxfire: Rein follows hard on his heels.
(7:16:55 PM) Prof: Approaching, the situation becomes clearer!
(7:17:17 PM) Prof: There is a circle of golden light, about 20-30 meters across.
(7:17:20 PM) Inc: Reggie approaches quickly, adjusting to the snow (no surprise) such that he is starting to become harder to see...
(7:17:43 PM) Prof: At the center is a female soul reaper - probably Selena - wielding some kind of staff topped with something resembling a gyroscope.
(7:18:17 PM) Prof: Inside the circle, the students have gathered into groups of four or five, and are fighting defensive battles against individual Hollows as a team.
(7:18:38 PM) Prof: Whenever a Hollow enters the circle, its armor and flesh begin to slowly disintegrate until they back out of it again.
(7:19:09 PM) Prof: A number of injured students are gathered around Selena in the center, with someone who'll probably end up in 4th Division tending to their wounds.
(7:19:28 PM) Prof: There are a lot of Hollows, mostly low-grade ones. A few fliers, a lot of typical land-bound ones.
(7:19:34 PM) Prof: Selena looks extremely tired.
(7:20:07 PM) Inc: Reggie looks up towards the air-bound ones, and reaches for his blade. "Are you ready?", he says, his voice calm.
(7:21:02 PM) Ethan: Igor: "Not enough Hollows."
(7:21:07 PM) Prof: Enemies: 10x Air Hollow, 30x Ground Hollow
(7:21:27 PM) Eric: "If Reinhild and I pull them apart, Igor can get into their midst and really cause some damage."

(7:21:43 PM) Prof: (Reggie!)
(7:22:49 PM) Inc: "I'll deal with the aerial ones, then. If one's grounded, finish it if you can. Sos, guide my path!" And as soon as the spear has taken form, Reggie has thrown several spears at the closest few airborne hollows.+
(7:23:35 PM) Prof: The first spear clips one in the wing, sending it to the ground. The next pierces directly between the eyes, shattering a Hollow's mask and purifying it instantly.
(7:23:41 PM) Prof: Selena: "About damn time!"
(7:24:03 PM) Prof: The Hollows make vague growly noises. They've noticed they have new company to contend with!

(7:24:21 PM) Eric: "Catch them, Wanahari!" Before they can get too organized against this new threat, a silver wire flashes through the snow, tangling up the feet of several of the land based hollows and digging into their legs as it tightens!+
(7:24:52 PM) Prof: A number of land-bound Hollows are knocked over, leaving them as prime targets for others, but none are slain!

(7:28:34 PM) Foxfire: "Fly out, Falke!" The scythe end of the weapon zig-zags through the battlefield, trailing a crackling light as it does so. The light snaps out to snare the hollows in its path. +
(7:29:07 PM) Prof: Igor, there are a bunch of extraordinarily vulnerable hollows in front of you.

(7:30:48 PM) Ethan: "Not enough hollows at all." He sweeps his hammer into them vertically, dragging along the first few he hits and adding them to the blow against those that come after. +
(7:31:10 PM) Prof: Igor's trail of carnage through Reinhild's and Yuu's setup annihilates a full five hollows.
(7:31:24 PM) Prof: The enemy forces are recovering from the initial impact of the ambush!
(7:31:59 PM) Prof: Nearby, three students combine binding kidou to hold a hollow still while a fourth cuts it down. They seem to be holding up pretty well under the pressure.
(7:32:23 PM) Prof: Reggie finds himself under attack - one of the flying hollows swoops down to rake at him with oversized talons!

(7:33:02 PM) Inc: Well, that one's easy enough. Reggie raises Sos itself, and sets the spear against the swooping beast, stabbing in right as it gets close!+

(7:34:29 PM) Eric: With a scream, Yuu comes flying through the air, Wanahari whipping around him at anything near by, and comes down with a spiritual pressure infused kick into the head of one of the hollows!+

(7:35:12 PM) Prof: A flying hollow takes some non-fatal damage as it tries to intercept him, but he gets through!

(7:35:29 PM) Prof: As he lands, though, two others reach out to grab and crush him!
(7:35:32 PM) Prof: (Yuu react, Reinhild)
(7:36:23 PM) Eric: He ducks beneath their attacks, slashing Wanahari to either side!

(7:36:42 PM) Prof: Yuu is safe.
(7:37:58 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild snaps Falke free from the debris of Igor's charge, then directs it upwards to hook into the body of a flier and pull it down.+

(7:38:42 PM) Prof: As it tries to stagger to its feet, one of the students jumps in to finish it off! Nice textbook execution strike.
(7:39:10 PM) Prof: However, a horned hollow is charging towards him, set on running the junior soul reaper through now that he's stepped out of the circle!

(7:40:36 PM) Foxfire: Rein flicks the blade out past the student and dead center right towards the hollow's mask.
(7:41:02 PM) Ethan: Igor, suddenly very enamored of this "beat them with their kind" strategy he's discovered, bats a lone Hollow as hard as he can into a lager cluster of them near a group of students. +
(7:42:02 PM) Prof: Rein's scythe dispatches the hollow nicely! Another student saved.
(7:42:05 PM) Foxfire: "Foolish of you. Foolish, but brave... you'll go far, I'm sure."
(7:42:12 PM) Prof: Igor's bowling strategy takes out another two, scattering several more.
(7:42:33 PM) Prof: Around now, the remaining hollows start making strange noises.
(7:42:43 PM) Prof: The fliers scatter, and the walkers start backing away.
(7:43:09 PM) Eric: Yuu: "We've got them on the run!"
(7:43:19 PM) Prof: Selena: "...We should use this opportunity to--"
(7:43:28 PM) Prof: A crack opens in the sky over the battle.
(7:43:43 PM) Prof: The ensuing wave of spiritual pressure is enough to bring most of the students to their knees.
(7:43:55 PM) Prof: That... feels like a Menos class.
(7:44:11 PM) Ethan: Igor: "Ohhhh, this is much better!"
(7:44:27 PM) Inc: Reggie: "... This could be interesting."
(7:44:38 PM) Eric: Yuu: "We need to get the students out of here! They might start dying just from the pressure!"
(7:44:50 PM) Prof: Before it's widened too far, there's a blur of movement!
(7:45:09 PM) Prof: The thing coming from the rift lands on top of one of the other hollows hard enough to make the earth shake.
(7:45:16 PM) Prof: It's not a Gillian.
(7:45:40 PM) Prof: It's shaped like a centaur, twice the height of a man at the shoulder, with the lower body of some kind of huge jungle cat.
(7:46:05 PM) Prof: Two long tentacles ending in claws grow from its shoulders, and its human-like arms end in foot-long blades tipping each finger.
(7:46:39 PM) Prof: Standard procedure is clear about this - if you encounter a Menos, and your group is all Third Seat or lower, you should withdraw and call for reinforcements...
(7:47:09 PM) Prof: ...however, if you withdraw, there's no way the students would be able to get out in time. Not in their condition.
(7:47:18 PM) Ethan: Igor has never read the rulebook anyway.

(7:49:18 PM) Prof: The Adjuchas blocks the hammer strike with a raised forearm!
(7:49:18 PM) Eric: Yuu: "Send a hell butterfly report. We can't fall back now without losing the students, but we're going to need backup."
(7:49:35 PM) Prof: Selena: "Leave the students and report to me!"
(7:50:02 PM) Prof: Meanwhile, the hollow it killed is disintegrating into spirit particles, which seep into the Menos's body through joints in its armor.
(7:50:04 PM) Prof: It laughs.
(7:50:15 PM) Prof: Hollow: "I came here expecting a morsel, and what do I find but a feast?"
(7:50:40 PM) Prof: One of the tentacles whips forward, grabs Igor by the head and throws him back!
(7:50:47 PM) Ethan: Igor: "I see no food." It is entirely unclear whether he's being defiant or doesn't get the metaphor.
(7:51:01 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild snaps Falke around at the ready, scanning desperately for any weak points.
(7:51:03 PM) Prof: Hollow: "My name is Centaviel. Shall you provide me with some sport before my meal, Soul Reapers?"

(7:51:27 PM) Eric: Yuu: "Your days are numbered, Hollow!"
(7:51:40 PM) Ethan: Also it's a good thing for Igor's landing, all the soft snow.
(7:52:05 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "A futile boast! Come, I shall show you the full extent of your hopelessness."

And then, suddenly... Reggie is entirely gone, faded into the snow. From an angle off to the beast's side, several spears strike at it!
(7:53:51 PM) Prof: Wow, something that big shouldn't also be that fast. It's gone before the spears hit.
(7:54:00 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "An impressive trick, but it won't save you for long!"
(7:54:06 PM) Prof: It lands back on the ground, not far from...

(7:54:12 PM) Eric: At Yuu's command, Wanahari snakes between Centaviel's legs, making dozens of tiny slashes at all four of them!+
(7:54:53 PM) Prof: It's hard to tell if that did any damage or not, but it at least isn't knocked over as easily as the other hollows...
(7:55:04 PM) Prof: ...then it charges past Yuu in the blink of an eye!
(7:55:11 PM) Eric: "Wha-"
(7:55:13 PM) Prof: As it passes, he feels a flash of intense pain in his left shoulder.
(7:55:29 PM) Prof: Centaviel flicks soul reaper blood from its claws.

(7:55:55 PM) Eric: "F-fast..."

(7:57:22 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild swings Falke around in a very wide arc to circle around Centaviel, then snaps the circle closed. +
(7:57:52 PM) Prof: Centaviel raises its forearms in defense, the circle scraping across them in a dramatic spray of sparks as it tightens!
(7:58:37 PM) Prof: Centaviel (To Reinhild): "Tell me, Soul Reaper. I have some knowledge of the way your kind rank their strongest warriors. How high do you sit within this ranking? Do the Soul Reapers consider you strong?"
(8:00:43 PM) Foxfire: "They do indeed. Are you going somewhere with this, or are you just looking for the best way to screw around my head? I know how you people work!"
(8:01:09 PM) Prof: Falke is pushed back suddenly, losing its grip on Centaviel as some kind of aura envelops its upper body!
(8:02:10 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "If you are considered strong, then the conflict between Hollows and Soul Reapers is little more than a farce! No doubt you only survive because El Ser Ultimo has decided not to crush all of you."
(8:02:29 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "This is my true power: Crepusculo. It is an aura forged from the souls of every enemy I have slain and devoured."

(8:02:58 PM) Ethan: Funny he should mention crushing. By any chance is he too distracted bragging to be using his senses?

(8:04:00 PM) Ethan: Hopefully. After his wipeout from his first attack, Igor decided to jump, and airwalk, and jump again, etc. etc.
(8:04:20 PM) Ethan: He is now descending, Nosorog-first, from several hundred feet in the air above Centaviel. +
(8:04:42 PM) Prof: The impact leaves a crater and an explosion of sight-obscuring snow!
(8:05:05 PM) Prof: It didn't look like the hollow managed to react in time...
(8:05:12 PM) Eric: Yuu: "Did he get it!?"
(8:05:25 PM) Inc: Reggie: "Don't drop your guard."
(8:05:39 PM) Prof: ...as the cloud clears, several tendrils of pale light are wrapped around Igor's limbs, holding him in the air overhead...
(8:05:48 PM) Prof: ...however, there's a hairline crack running down its mask.
(8:05:55 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "Most impressive."
(8:06:32 PM) Prof: Holding him in place with Crepusculo, Centaviel slashes deep across Igor's chest with five blades at once before throwing him aside!
(8:06:45 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "However, being able to damage me and being able to win this battle are worlds apart."
(8:07:10 PM) Ethan: Igor gives a kind of scream-roar as he lands in a bloody heap.
(8:07:40 PM) Prof: It looks like attacking individually isn't going to do much good. Anyone got any better plans?
(8:09:32 PM) Eric: Yuu's still mostly okay. It wasn't his good arm that was hurting right now anyways
(8:09:50 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild speaks in a low hiss. "Yuu, you and I, we'll make him spread his aura thin to catch our attacks. Reggie, you'll smash through."
(8:10:23 PM) Eric: Yuu: "Sounds like our best bet. I've still got a few tricks left

(8:10:33 PM) Ethan: Igor mutters something incomprehensible containing the phrase "just enough Hollows." He has a lot of blood, but this is still a considerable amount to lose.
(8:10:37 PM) Inc: Reggie: "Got it." And then he's gone again.
(8:11:00 PM) Eric: "I'll take his left side." Yuu is also gone, but with flashstepping, not snow camoflage.
(8:11:01 PM) Prof: (Reggie moved to end of initiative for the sake of The Plan.)

(8:13:03 PM) Eric: Wanahari snaked out from the snow to wrap around Centaviel's left arm and pull him off balance. However it's different from normal this time. This time, the second Centaviel tried to resist the pull, the wire suddenly crackled with electricity!+
(8:13:53 PM) Prof: Centaviel grunts in surprise as the electricity flows into its body!
(8:14:35 PM) Prof: Then Crepusculo expands from its left arm, unraveling the hold Yuu has on it...
(8:14:37 PM) Prof: (Reinhild!)
(8:16:29 PM) Foxfire: Reinheld glides to the right, cracking Falke out in an undulating strike against the hollow's sides. With every strike, another loop is added to its length and begins its own set of blows. The area between them is quickly turning into a seething, hydra-esque mass of chain-shaped lightning.+
(8:17:58 PM) Prof: The aura on the right focuses and condenses into a shield, blocking the blows, and one of Centaviel's tentacles lashes out, claws pushed together into a single point!
(8:18:28 PM) Prof: It's not a direct hit, but Reinhild is bleeding from her right side. Just missed the stomach.
(8:18:30 PM) Prof: (Igor)
(8:20:22 PM) Ethan: Igor understands distractions just well enough to realize he shouldn't make another suicide blitz. He stands back, holds Nosorog like a javelin with the hammerhead in the front, and tosses it. +
(8:21:02 PM) Prof: Centaviel's prehensile aura lashes out quickly, wrapping around Nosorog's handle and just barely stopping it in time!
(8:21:15 PM) Prof: However, between stopping the three attacks, Centaviel's aura has developed a weak point...!

(8:22:48 PM) Inc: ... Next to which Reggie suddenly appears, a single, perfectly-aimed strike piercing into it!
(8:23:27 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "What--!!"
(8:23:39 PM) Prof: Sos pierces through Crepusculo!
(8:23:49 PM) Inc: Reggie: "NOW!"
(8:26:24 PM) Prof: There is a brilliant explosion of light as Sos strikes Centaviel in the shoulder!
(8:26:33 PM) Prof: Its left arm is blasted clean off.
(8:26:36 PM) Prof: (Everyone else, dogpile!)
(8:27:18 PM) Ethan: Igor doesn't need to contribute further. This all happens so fast that Nosorog still has plenty of momentum when Centaviel's aura loses focus and stops gripping it, so it slams broadside into the back of his head.
(8:27:33 PM) Eric: Yuu comes in in a textbook perfect hollow slaying strike, slashing at Centaviel's head from behind and above with Wanahari in it's unextended form for once.+
(8:28:30 PM) Foxfire: The pile of writhing murderchain slips past Centaviel's trashed defenses and holds him in a crushing grip for all of the bonus wrecking. +
(8:28:47 PM) Prof: As you all converge, something shifts in the air...
(8:29:19 PM) Prof: ...and Yuu, Rienhild and Reggie each feel a dozen blades cutting into their flesh before they are all thrown back once more.
(8:29:37 PM) Inc: Reggie: "!"
(8:29:43 PM) Prof: Panting and one-armed, Centaviel recovers its stance, but the aura around it has changed in shape.
(8:30:13 PM) Prof: Crepusculo is extended in a host of pseudopods, each ending in a razor-sharp blade of spiritual energy.
(8:30:36 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "I'll tell you something interesting, Soul Reapers."
(8:31:00 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "Every single Soul Reaper who has seen Crepusculo's true form, without exception, has died by my hand."
(8:31:17 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "I respect your strength for pushing me this far..."
(8:31:35 PM) Prof: The two tentacles rise and point towards the party, an orb of red energy accumulating at the tip of each one.
(8:32:00 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "...But this is the end."
(8:32:05 PM) Ethan: Igor: "Too many hollows..."
(8:32:07 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "TWIN CERO!"
(8:32:09 PM) Prof: (Everyone react)
(8:33:00 PM) Inc: Reggie  suddenly flash-steps to the creature's side, returning to thrown spears at a distance - a trolling strategy for sure, but his best chance was here.
(8:33:05 PM) Ethan: Igor is pretty mediocre at flash-stepping, as we discussed, even when he has more than most of a chest. Still, he tries to grab whoever is closest to him on the path he attempts to dodge by.
(8:33:06 PM) Eric: Yuu leaps up into the air, trailing blood, but coiling Wanahari in front of him to form something of a rudimentary shield.+
(8:34:14 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild flashsteps/flashstaggers to the side.+
(8:35:18 PM) Prof: The massive dual blasts of energy carve a trench through the snow. Yuu's shield is little protection, and he is thrown painfully out of the way of the attack along with Igor and Reinhild.
(8:35:53 PM) Prof: Reggie's daredevil strategy brings him out of the range of the Cero, but into the range of Crepusculo - as he moves in to stab, four prehensile spirit blades dart in to cut him down!

(8:37:29 PM) Inc: Reggie's move, at this point, is to BACK THE HELL OFF, throwing a few spears at the bases of each blade!+
(8:37:46 PM) Prof: He at least manages to save his own hide as he escapes.
(8:38:35 PM) Prof: Centaviel advances slowly, Crepusculo flickering ominously around it. "Still alive after all that? You surprise me again. However, how much longer can you stand with those injuries?"
(8:38:40 PM) Prof: And as he says that, you notice, strangely...
(8:38:49 PM) Prof: ...that the injuries actually don't seem to hurt all that bad.
(8:38:56 PM) Prof: At least, not as much as they should.
(8:39:17 PM) Prof: It's as if there's some additional source of power giving you strength, although with no accompanying spiritual energy.
(8:39:29 PM) Eric: Yuu: "That was the legendary Cero?"
(8:40:26 PM) Eric: "I was expecting more."
(8:40:34 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "What did you say...?"
(8:40:42 PM) Prof: (Yuu!)
(8:40:59 PM) Ethan: In Igor's case, part of it is that his wounds closed up partially when Nosorog hit Centaviel for the second time, but that doesn't quite cover it.
(8:41:18 PM) Eric: Yuu: "Now hollow. Be at peace."
(8:41:33 PM) Eric: This time the electrified Wanahari is aimed at his neck. +
(8:42:14 PM) Prof: Crepusculo solidifies to block the attack... but Wanahari cuts through it!
(8:42:38 PM) Prof: Centaviel staggers under the force of the shock, its remaining arm occupied with de-strangling itself!

(8:43:39 PM) Foxfire: "Well, I'll give you an A for effort but you're really not living up to that whole spiel you gave us earlier. Bragging is only attractive when you have something to brag about, please remember that!"
(8:44:26 PM) Foxfire: The loops of Falke curl up around Centaviel's neck and flare with cracking energy. +
(8:44:43 PM) Prof: Centaviel: "Arrrgggghhhh...!!"

(8:54:02 PM) Prof: Swiftly approaching is a familiar blonde woman in a white tuxedo with a 7 emblazoned over the heart, holding an ornate bow stylized like a pair of angel's wings.

(8:56:49 PM) Prof: Richeleu: "...I would have been astounded if you had even managed to survive against an Adjuchas this long without any of you dying."
(8:57:10 PM) Prof: Richeleu: "To have killed it before I even arrived..."
(8:57:36 PM) Prof: Richeleu: "...I suppose congratulations are in order for you all. I'll clean up the remaining hollows, so get these fine students back to the gate."
(8:58:14 PM) Eric: "My apologies for troubling you over nothing, Captain."
(8:58:49 PM) Prof: Richeleu: "I would have chastized you more if you tried to take on a Hollow that strong without calling for help."
(8:59:02 PM) Prof: She fires again, killing another four hollows. Looks like she's got the mop-up under control.
(8:59:13 PM) Foxfire: Reinhild salutes and proceeds to follow herself some orders.
(8:59:40 PM) Eric: Yuu also salutes, staggering off to round up all the students and get everyone back to soul society
(8:59:59 PM) Inc: Reggie: "Understood." Reggie stands, and bows before the captain, going to help the students get to safety.
(9:00:01 PM) Ethan: Igor: "Come, newbies! No stragglers!"
(9:00:59 PM) Prof: In the end, miraculously, not a single student died. Selena was assigned a day of bed rest to recover from the spiritual strain of keeping her zanpakuto up for that long, and the rest of you were carted over to 4th Division for some healing.
