  1. Good evening /smtg/, I apologize about the wait, I've been quite busy lately but I have a nice chunk of Devil Summoner translated for your enjoyment. Today's update will cover 2 dungeons, 4 bosses, and 1 major plot development, so let's waste no time.
  2.
  3. So immediately after we escape the explosion of the house, the police are on the scene right away. The inspector on duty is 百地警部 Inspector Momochi.
  4.
  5. He shows up with one of his lackeys and accuses us of being the ones behind the bombing, since naturally we're right there at the scene [and clearly people who set bombs off in houses wait around to be caught by the police].
  6.
  7. So we get separated from Rei and hauled off to the police station.
  8.
  9. In jail, Momochi starts to interrogate us, letting on that there have been a lot more suspicious incidents going on lately, and for whatever reason because of Kyouji's reputation he wants to pin it on me.
  10.
  11. Before he can though, his lackey shows up and is freaking out about something big going down at Kitayama University. Momochi runs off, telling us he'll be back to continue the interrogation later.
  12.
  13. At this point Kyouji's spirit appears, remarking sarcastically that at least he doesn't have to worry about his body now since it's safe in jail [guess Japanese prisons are nicer]
  14.
  15. Kyouji starts to talk about keeping up the facade of nothing being unusual about his body, but is interrupted by a guy who comes in and says that we have a sponsor who has paid our way out of jail.
  16.
  17. The man leads us out to the lobby where we're told to wait while our sponsor finishes the business of paying for our release.
  18.
  19. While waiting in the lobby, the dispatchers voice can be overheard talking about the incident at Kitayama. Seems like demons have shown up there too, and it's where Professor Azuma, the author of that book on ancient Japanese civilization works. Somebody really wants to get their hands on him.
  20.
  21. After a while, our sponsor shows up and... surprise, it's Marie. I think she's a lot more wealthy than her profession as a fortune teller might have one believe.
  22.
  23. Anyway, Marie gives us a lecture on not getting thrown in jail, and then we head outside...
  24.
  25. Outside, Rei is waiting too. Marie paid for her release as well, and Rei is happy to be out, but it seems she has a bit of a bad relationship with Marie... she keeps calling her an old lady.
  26.
  27. Rei says she overheard the dispatcher as well and is in a hurry to get to Kitayama to see what's going on.
  28.
  29. Marie mentions before we run off that she's got a job for us at Casa Qin/Ken [i'll talk more about this name a bit later] where it seems some evil spirits and demons have begun to show up.
  30.
  31. Rei blows her off and insists we go to Kitayama quickly, but eventually acquiesces and says we can do Marie's job if we make it quick. So naturally, because Marie pays well, her job takes priority!
  32.
  33. After a quick visit to Victor and the shops, it's time for Casa Qin.
  34.
  35. Casa Qin is another pretty simple dungeon, a bit longer than the dungeons thus far but nothing too crazy.
  36.
  37. The boss of the zone is Inui. Video here with translated pre/post battle dialogue:

  40. Now about the name of the building...
  41.
  42. The exact writing is カーサ乾 which can either be read as "Casa Inui" [inui meaning "dry"], or "Casa Qin". Qin I believe is the name of a country that is a plot element in the story later on, so I figured this is the appropriate name, and Inui's name is just a play on his location. I really can't be sure until I get further into the game.
  43.
  44. Anyway, after beating up on suicidal ghosts, a quick visit to Marie's place to collect the 50k yen bounty for a job well done, and a bunch of weapon upgrades later, it's time for Kitayama.
  45.
  46. Arriving at Kitayama, the front gate's blocked off and Momochi's too upset about it to notice I've gotten out of jail. So we head around to the back and into the university's gardens, which seem to have been distorted by the Otherworld now surrounding the school. The entire dungeon is suspiciously similar to the forest dungeon in Persona 1.
  47.
  48. The game ups the ante here a bit, with floor traps, but the floor traps don't do much damage and are pretty easy to see.
  49.
  50. Along the way, I met a Moh Shuvuu who wanted to talk about cocks. Can't make this stuff up.
  51.
  52. After the forest we go into the school where there's a nice place to heal up before heading on.
  53.
  54. The school isn't too bad, except for one thing. The game starts throwing Mudo at you at this point, and it is a motherfucker in this game.
  55.
  56. Mudo basically works like a Dance skill from Devil Survivor in this game. It can attempt to kill the same target twice. i.e. it can attempt to instakill your MC twice, which was a game over for me every time it happened.
  57.
  58. Anyway, instant death aside, deep inside the school is an extra boss and my new favorite character in this game, Dr. Thrill.
  59.
  60. Dr. Thrill speaks using bizarre pronouns for himself like ワテ and talks about his genius creation, 造魔 "Zoma", which does not have a direct translation, but it means something like an artificial/constructed demon. I'm just leaving it as Zoma.
  61.
  62. And his music is awesome.

  65.
  66. Translated pre/post, boss battle with Proto Gargantua/ P. Gargantua.
  67.
  68.
  69. And now for the piece d' resistance, the boss behind the Kitayama University otherworld is... Sid. I've translated all this on the video but I'm going to post it here as a little teaser.
  70.
  71.
  72. SID: You are... Kyouji Kuzunoha. I certainly killed you, but here you are. Why is it that you're alive..?
  73.
  74. SID: ...I don't believe it. This has to be a mistake. Kyouji Kuzunoha is alive... something's gone wrong.
  75.
  76. SID: This mistake must be fixed.
  77. In order to fix this mistake, you're going to have to die.
  78.
  79.
  80. Aaand the rest is on the video.
