  1. I'm sorry to say that because of school, the two plays I somehow found myself in, and the book I'm writing, September got WAY more swamped than I meant for it to. I regret to say that I'm going to cancel our session today (9/25/2013), and put the game on hiatus until Wed. October 30th, when I KNOW I'll start having actual free days. That way, I don't have to rush you as much, you can enjoy yourselves and take your time, and I won't have to pull out my hair worrying about relying on Minis to get anything done.
  2.
  3. NOW, I want to make it up to you. There is going to be a 5 week gap between now and the 30th, so in the meantime to keep the game alive in your hearts and minds, I'm going to extend the due date on the journal due today on 9/25, and also assign a SUPER JOURNAL, due on the 30th;
  4.
  5. So this has two parts:
  6.
  7. 1.) Normal Journal entry in anticipation of the Keldeo fight, worth 1 level as normal. Rudiger already got this in to me. Due Oct. 30.
  8.
  9. 2.) SUPER JOURNAL. Using one of the following prompts, I would like you to write a short story. It can be as long as you like, but no less than 3000 words (About 6 pages in MS word, I'll be semi-strict on word count). Also keep in mind that I have to READ this story so don't go writing crazy 100 page monsters. You DON'T have to be worried about your story being good or not, it's enough that you tried. You may use NPC characters/pokemon or other PCs in your story, and I'd like you to keep some consideration to keeping them in-character. These stories won't NECESSARILY be canon. If everything fits what's already been established, then yeah, whatever, that could have happened. Why not? If you write something wacky that obviously couldn't happen within the game, that's okay too. Let your imaginations free. Each story prompt has a subtly different "prize package," so if you can't decide between which kind of story you want to write, then let greed be your guide. I want to post these stories publicly in the list of logs, so nothing creepy. Conform to the level of profanity and violence I've shown in Overthere so far.
  10.
  11. STORY PROMPT A: Gods Among Men
  12. Choose one Legendary pokemon that your group currently has access to; Giratina, Groudon, Mew, Celebi, Terrakion, Virizion, or Shaymin (If I've missed anyone I apologize). Write a story starring your character and this legendary encountering a problem together, solving that problem, and how that conflict changes how your PC and this legendary feel about one another. The conflict can be as dire or trivial as you want, but it must be a situation where the two of you work together and interact a lot. You can use other legendaries or PCs in your story, but only the featured Legendary should have the bulk of story focus.
  13. +5 Trainer levels
  14. +12 Pokemon levels to each pokemon you own
  15. +Affinity with that legendary ("Affinity" is perhaps a little vague, I grant you, but it could have an effect in how that legendary acts towards you by the end of the game.)
  16. Note: Keep in mind that some PCs already have a pretty high affinity with some legendaries. Karsten with Mew for example. I won't stop you from using a legendary you already have a pretty good affinity with in order to raise your affinity with them even higher, but it's something to keep in mind.
  17.
  18. STORY PROMPT B: When the Man's Away...
  19. Take your team of pokemon. Keeping their relative levels, natures, loyalties, and type/species into account, imagine a story where, for one reason or another, they become stranded without you, the trainer, and must fend for themselves, encounter a problem and solve it together, and how that conflict changes how your pokemon feel about each other and/or how they feel about you. The conflict can be as dire or trivial as you want, but it must be a situation where the all of your pokemon work together and interact. Each pokemon should get at least one moment where they are featured. You may make your pokemon vocal (Like that episode where Ash's pokemon got stranded and talked with subtitles to each other), or non-verbal, and feel free to make them think they're people as much as you like. Keep in mind that in Overthere, I err towards most pokemon having an intelligence level close to that of a dog unless they are notably intelligent. Feel free to follow that or discard that as needed.
  20. +5 trainer levels
  21. +15 pokemon levels to each pokemon you own
  22. +1 loyalty rank to any pokemon loyalty 2 or above.
  23. +2 loyalty ranks to any pokemon loyalty 1 or lower.
  24.
  25. STORY PROMPT C: Brother, My Brother.
  26. Choose one other PC. Write a story starring yourself and this other PC encountering a problem together, solving that problem, and changes how these two PCs feel about each other. The conflict can be as dire or trivial as you want, but it must be a situation where the two of you work together and interact a lot. You can use other legendaries or PCs in your story, but only the featured PC should have the bulk of story focus. Considerations here include keeping your borrowed PC in-character. It might be a good idea to check with your chosen PC's player, but I won't require it. Just keep in mind these will be posted publicly so don't write something that will make another player mad.
  27. +6 trainer levels
  28. +10 pokemon levels to each pokemon you own
  29. +You gift the following prize package to your chosen PC:
  30. ---+1 Trainer level
  31. ---+5 Pokemon levels to each pokemon they own
  32.
  33. STORY PROMPT D: War! HUH! What Is It Good For? (Past or Future flavors)
  34. This story should star your PC alone. You have two choices; You could look behind, into the past, and describe an episode that occurred during the war. How did this episode make you feel about war? How did it influence you to be the person they are during the game? Is it a happy, exciting memory? Is it a horrible memory that you would rather forget? ... On the other hand, you could look ahead. Assume you survive the game (Not a guarantee, of course), and add 30 years or so. Describe an episode that may occur during World War II. Your character remembers what happened here in 1917, of course, and you can assume you still own any pokemon you caught here. How does your character react? How old is your character? Where do you see their life at that point? Are they willing to be pulled back into adventure, or are the eager for it? Where do they live and what does that mean? Let your imagination run wild and don't worry about matching any perceived "Canon."
  35. +5 trainer levels
  36. +12 pokemon levels to each pokemon you own
  37. +Choose one character class you do not currently posses. You do not take that character class, and it does not count against your character class limit, but you may take features from that class as if you were of that class.
  38.
  39. ---
  40.
  41. Whichever prompt you choose, by October 30th, copy and paste it into a pastebin titled with the name of the story prompt you used and make sure I get it. You will receive your prize package, and I'll post the story on the log. If you would REALLY rather your story not be posted publicly, just tell me, but I would like this to be something that you can share with your fellow players. I will observe a STRICT deadline of October 30th before the game begins. If you do not have your SUPER JOURNAL in by then you do not get the bonus.
  42.
  43. And HAVE FUN. THAT'S AN ORDER. Sorry again for being a massive flake.
  44. LOVE,
  45. Kamen
