* Cassiopeia counts out six safira. "Just enough to grab a few and have a little bit left over."

DNA: 	Potions are 1sp per, so maybe 3 per person will be a good idea? I know First Aid so I can go by with a little less and already have a few.
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"I have four potions."
	Nurse Joy: 	Nurse Joy frowns a bit, "I bought you breakfast and let you stay here free of charge already. Now you want a discount...?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"We were charged to stay the night by the innkeeper."
	Nurse Joy: 	Nurse Joy is not sold on giving you a discount despite your obvious worries. Perhaps she could be talked down with an advanced test...
	Inn Keeper: 	"That's right. I did charge 'em. They gotcha there."
	Hotaru Joy: 	Communication 6+1+5+3=15
	Hotaru Joy: 	"I'll pay you back for the discount as soon as I can--it'll be a debt from me to you. But I can't let my team go in unprepared, right?"

	Nurse Joy: 	Nurse Joy frowns before pinching the bridge of her nose, "Fine, fine. I'll give you a discount. 33 Rubi for status healing medication instead of the usual 50 Rubi."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Thank you. This means a lot to me, and I swear I'll pay you back." Hotaru bowed low to Suzuka, nearly hitting her head on the counter.
	Nurse Joy: 	"But! Only for right now. Take it or leave it. Next time you enter the shop, prices are back to normal."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"Ehehehe..."
* Hotaru Joy sets 4 Safira and 58 Rubi on the counter. "This is everything I have right now money-wise. Cassiopeia, could you handle the shopping itself? I need to see to Magearna, and plan how to pay back the debt once we're done."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo sets 22 Rubi on the counter.
	Cassiopeia: 	"Of course. Prioritizing Awakenings and Potions, yes? Anything else you'd like me to nab?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"That's all."
	Cassiopeia: 	"Understood."

* Hotaru Joy honestly isn't feeling very good after having to ask family for a discount.
Avara: (( i think a morale penalty is honestly appropriate for hotaru at this point. she really feels like garbage right now. ))

Hotaru: Fuck your stupid test.

DNA: 	(Doing a bit of math to see how many potions would be best.)

Avara: 	penalty imposed until hotaru earns forgiveness or pays off the accrued debt
* Cassiopeia pushes 8 of her own sp across the counter. "Could I ask for 9 Awakenings and 5 Potions, please?"
	Nurse Joy: 	Nurse Joy gathers 5 Potions and 9 Awakenings before setting them down on the counter and taking the 8 safira. She looks it over, doing some quick math before placing 3 Rubi on the counter as well with your medications, "There you go, sweetie. Try not to die."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"How much is our debt?"
	Cassiopeia: 	"We'll do our best. I think it's better to be safe than sorry, for things like this."
	Nurse Joy: 	"If you guys are insistent on repaying me, it's 1 safira 53 Rubi." Nurse Joy says yawning and stretching, "I'm not sweating over it, though."
Avara: 	did you only use your own money, dna
DNA: 	Yes!
DNA: 	I can't scam Ma-nyeo; she's dirt poor
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Yes, I'm insisting. I only wanted a discount in case we needed to buy more than we could afford at normal price. Otherwise it's just... wrong. To do that."
* Hotaru Joy will leave the rest of the payment on the counter.
	Nurse Joy: 	Nurse Joy smiles and takes the money before putting it into the safe, "You're a good girl, Hotaru. Bring our children back to us if you can, okay?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Absolutely."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Next... if anyone else has business to see to around the Center, now's the time. I want to take some time talking to Magearna, if that's alright."
* Magearna is let out of her pokeball in a corner of the center, still compacted into its own pokeball form. Hotaru walks over, whispering to it and gently reaching out to it. It takes some time and effort, but eventually Hotaru coaxes Magearna's head up from ball form, gently petting its surface metal. "Tokikotooo..." it intoned, not really saying much of anything but mourning its lost friend.
* Hotaru Joy makes a few sounds, not really meaning anything either--she's more conveying with tone and body language than actual words, trying until she finds a way to communicate an attempt at comfort to the Magearna, going through what she knows about Steel and Fairy pokemon.
* Magearna kept rambling on throughout Hotaru's efforts, "tokitotokikokitokiko..." but eventually she was able to calm down, at least a little. It still hurt, but... it was... it didn't want to be alone.
Ma-Nyeo: (( is the medicine shop and the pokeshop Ma-Nyeo bought her needle different? ))
* Hotaru Joy gave a little chirp-like sound, as best she could manage, and kept a hand on Magearna's shoulder, before starting to hum some music.
* Magearna hesitated... and then started playing music as well. A farewell song, for the dearly departed.

* Hotaru Joy guided Magearna up to the counter, still keeping a hand on the Pokemon as it sang its song, still not saying anything. She took the moment to try and understand something about Magearna's coloration.
Nurse Joy: (( Nope, same location. Medical shop is Suzuka while everything non-medical is done by Syndel the innkeeper. Though anything beyond those, such as weapons and armor, held items or berries, are sold in a different location. West of this building. ))

	Inn Keeper: 	"Just materials? Planning on making some clothing?"
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"I don't know how to make clothing. I thought I would start with making dolls. They are small and need less material, but need a lot of stitching and careful measurements."
	Inn Keeper: 	"Sure, sure. How much you planning on buying?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Suzu, do you know anything about why Tokidoki is the color she is?"
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo puts 22 Rubi onto the counter, "This much!"

	Nurse Joy: 	"I uh, nope. I didn't even consider that an abnormal color. Don't Magearna have like, a bunch of natural colors compared to, y'know, most Pokemon?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"There's pokeball colors with gold, there's black and white, and there's the silver that's normally under the paintjob for either of the others. But this platinum is very unique."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo glances at the Tokidoki.
	Inn Keeper: 	Inn Keeper pauses as she looks at the rubi and nods, "Hm. Hm." Inn Keeper hands Ma-Nyeo 22 Rubi worth of thread and cloth.

	Deep Blue: 	Deep Blue has been intrigued by the sentient trinket, and has been quietly scanning/watching it in an effort to understand it.

DNA: 	It only counts each species once, disregarding alternate forms? So Rattata and Alolan Rattata only counts as 1 scan?
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo places a finger on her chin and rattles off information as if she were reading from a textbook and speaking to no on in particular, "Magearna are typically created by particularly skilled humans or, rarely, particularly skilled and intelligent pokemon. Magearna typically has the ability to change its coloration to that of its original incarnation known as 'original color magearna' but the change is purely aesthetic. Their color naturally changes overtime as they develop their own aura from the combined life energy of its Soul Heart.
The coloration of this Magearna is unusual due to the materials used to create its original form and the particular life energy gathered from other Pokemon--who are likely now deceased--to craft its Soul Heart. Its coloration could be from a combination of rare materials and either especially diverse pokemon or a narrow collection of pokemon life energy. Either way, its coloration is a signature for whatever kind of creator it had."

	Deep Blue: 	Deep Blue does a double take at Ma-nyeo's explanation. "That was surprisingly coherent."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"Uwa?"
	Cassiopeia: 	"Deep Blue! That's rude."
	Deep Blue: 	Deep Blue hangs what passes for its head in shame. "...Sorry."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"So... Tokidoki is platinum-green-turquoise because of the materials used to create her, and the life force in her Soul Heart?"
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo nods.
Ma-Nyeo: (( I should have probably dressed up the second half more, but I've seen too many cases of paraphrasing what Kaorin says and information getting lost or misrepresented that I err on the side of copy-paste. ))

	Hotaru Joy: 	"Well, Tokidoki's going to be coming with us, so we might find out about her creator at some point."
DNA: 	I have fallen into the same trap
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo walks up to Tokidoki and bends her knees just enough to level her eyes with the pokemon's. "Who made you?"

	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo smiles in anticipation for an answer. Stare unbroken.
	Miss Mallow: 	"I...don't think she will be helping us out herself. Not for now. We should let her be."
* Tokidoki raises her arm at Ma-Nyeo... aaaand.... BOOM! A flower bouquet burst out of her cannon to spray Ma-Nyeo with sparkles.

	Judge: 	"Are you sure? We have a bunch of feline pokemon owners ready for a casual match in hopes of reaching the qualifiers!"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"You tell me, are your people willing to help us recover for a darkrai battle tonight?"
	Judge: 	"Wait, is that a Magearna?" Judge stares.
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Yes."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"Don't let her sparkle you."
	Judge: 	"...Well, I know who's steamrolling."
	Cassiopeia: 	"Two high cards in just as many seconds. Not bad, Hotaru."

	Judge: 	"Yeah, we don't care for your Pokemon. That's on you. We can offer you bedrest and an injury kit after participation. But that's the extent of it."

	Receptionist: 	"Like, flower based teams? Well there's Sakura Bloom. And....that's it."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"... Okay. This sounds kind of silly, but it came to mind and it's kind of stuck there. Lotus Mountain? Sarah and I lived on and in a mountain, respectively, and... well, flowers. And lotus flowers represent enlightenment sort of thing, right?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Mm... It doesn't really sound good, though."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Queen, any opinions?"

	Officer: 	An Officer is sitting at the reception desk. Or Front Desk. Or...he's the first dude you see and have to get through before talking to other, more appropriate authority. He's definitely a real cop. But fucked up somewhere and was stuck with a desk job for the time being.
He hates himself currently and regrets what he did. But he knows what he did was the right thing, just at the wrong time and probably for the wrong reasons. Ahhh, that beautiful hubris, that stupid pride - it got him here. And now he has to deal with you. You Trainers with all your adventuring and problem solving skills, or probleming MAKING skills - we don't know which you are yet. We DO know that you're here. In front of him. And he should probably stop this inner monologue you can see above his head so plot can actually move forward.
	Officer: 	"...How can I help you kids?"

	Hotaru Joy: 	"We're the trainers helping with the child disappearance case--the ones that brought in information that an attack was happening tonight. We have more news."

	Officer: 	"Yeah, that it's supposedly happening tonight or something, right? Ugh..." Officer says standing up from his chair and dropping his newspaper, "I'll see who's available to deal with your update."
	Officer: 	No sooner does he open the door behind him to the rest of the station do you see two women standing there, shocked to see him. In fact, they all nearly walked into each other.
	Officer Jenny: 	"...Officer Bounce. Was there something you needed?"
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Caleo, I was about to send you on a food run. My treat. If you'd rather not..."
	Officer: 	"Uhh, no...some kids are here to see you. About the...thing tonight."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"..."
* Hotaru Joy is really not a kid
	Officer Jenny: 	Officer Jenny leans to the side to see you guys and smiles, waving to you all.

	Ma-Nyeo: 	"Hi we're going to fight the thing that steals children. It's probably a darkrai."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Alright, well...I'll deal with them." Pallet Chief of Police hands some cash to Officer Bounce, "Meat boxes, please. And a side salad. Get something for yourself too."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Hey Ririn, it's good to see you."
	Officer: 	Officer looks down at the cash before nodding, "I'll...be back then." Officer turns and walks out the door without looking at any of you.
	Officer Jenny: 	Officer Jenny steps up and sits down at the desk, smiling, "Hotaru, good to see you again. Sadako told me you were in town. A real Trainer now, huh?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Yup. Got my license and a second pokemon, and a job to kick some ass. All in one morning."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"I think those are all the things you need to be a trainer."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Yeah, well - I hope you're well prepared for the trials ahead. You didn't exactly start slow."
	Officer Jenny: 	"Aww, cut her some slack. She's learned more than we did in a single day!"
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"And left us with more questions than answers."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Yeah. The enemy's a darkrai, and it'll be coming tonight, from the north. The wild pokemon around here verified it doesn't appear in town directly."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"Questions?"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"The unsettling feeling that signifies it comes from the north, and then fades."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"True. You assume it's a Darkrai. I'll agree most signs point to that, but why is a Darkrai interested in the children of Pallet Town? Why us specifically and not other locations? We haven't heard any information regarding child kidnappings anywhere else. And while Darkrai aren't exactly known to be saints, they're more known for their sleep curses than actual abductions. So if a Darkrai is kidnapping children, why? Are they working for someone? Are they performing sadistic rituals to some unnamed god? Are they owned and these children being taken by some sick human somewhere? Or is it actually something else or something worse? Why so infrequently? Why timed only at night? And why does a supposedly allied Gothita kidnap a specific child just before the infiltration to protect him? Is he the actual target or is he special for another unknown reason?"
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Like I said. More questions than answers."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"... that must be it!"
	Hotaru Joy: 	"We may not have started slow, but I don't think it'd be possible to. Slow isn't what this region needs from us."
	Officer Jenny: 	"Uh, so...this is our Chief of Police, Leonora Jefferson."
	Officer Jenny: 	"And...you just witnessed why she's the Chief."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	Ma-Nyeo now believes all of what the Chief of Police just suggested.
	Hotaru Joy: 	"We'll do everything we can to get you answers, ma'am."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"We just wanted to make sure to get you the information we were able to get, to help with refining finding the one behind all this, so we can put an end to it. If we can capture whatever's doing this, maybe we can get it to show us where the abductees are."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"I wonder what dark gods a darkrai would worship... eheheh..."
	Cassiopeia: 	"I feel like those answers will only be resolved once we have an actual encounter with the thing. All of those questions are whys and can't be answered with our current lack of knowledge. But now we know the where, and the when. The what isn't as important. That means we're getting close."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"There's some truth to that but that's just being shortsighted."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Encountering the kidnapper and merely dealing with them won't bring any of the kidnapped children back. And the parents of those children want nothing more than to have their children returned safe and sound."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"If there's anything else we can do to help everyone get ready for tonight, please let us know. As I said, I have full intent of trying to capture the culprit so we can get those children back."
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"We should catch the kidnapper. If we can't, it means its owned by a human. If not, we can gain its loyalty and learn its secrets."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"If the situation is far bigger than the kidnapper and that kidnapper won't talk or worse, won't actually know what's happening beyond a delivery...we're worse off."
* Hotaru Joy falls silent to await any further assignment or advice.
	Cassiopeia: 	"Right, of course. But either way the kidnapper is still a lead. Whether or not it's the head, that we'll have to find out. If we're fortunate, this will be a one-and-done deal, but we probably won't be quite that lucky."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"We do know it's a Dark Type, for sure. Darkrai or not, that puts us at a disadvantage. Most Pokemon capable of telecommunication are Psychic Types. My initial suggestion would be to set a bait. A fake child to get kidnapped. A Pokemon with Transform or something. Then to stalk the Pokemon back to its delivery point - or its lair if it's really just that simple - to know for sure."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"I'd honestly prefer not to do battle with it at all. We have no guarentee it'll talk - or if it knows. And with it being the only lead we have to be careful."
	Cassiopeia: 	"...Does the bait have to be alive, though? Is there a way to tip it in such a way that it wouldn't notice the difference?"
	Ma-Nyeo: 	"What if Miss Mallow dressed up as a human child. She normally fools pokemon into thinking she's a pikachu."
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Only children were ever taken. Nothing else. I'm thinking it'll notice if things are off. It'd have to be plenty convincing."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Do you have anyone who's good with disguises and the like?"
	Miss Mallow: 	Miss Mallow looks shocked, "I am Pikachu!"
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"I could offer materials but that sort of undercover work is beyond what we normally do. I was hoping you guys had something to go with it. If you can't avoid combat with the thing, then that's that. But all this is assuming we find it before it arrives in town."
	Hotaru Joy: 	"Can I try experimenting with some materials?"
	Pallet Chief of Police: 	"Feel free to. I'd rather we have every advantage we can get. There's too much at risk here."
	Hotaru Joy: 	Hotaru is going to try disguising herself and Magearna.

	Ma-Nyeo: 	"There are trainers at the contest hall, maybe some of them are children. We could recruit someone to help us."
