  1. Trust Each Other (TEO) Lesson Plan

  3.
  4. This is a in-depth strategy guide for Trust Each Other, also known as TEO (http://www.epicmafia.com/setup/64250). This setup has 10 players, and it is a 4-setup multisetup (meaning of 1 of 4 possible setups is chosen at random at the beginning of the game).
  5.
  6. There are bolded terms throughout this guide. If you do not know what a bolded term means, its definition can be found in the List of Important Terms. These are important terms to know and are essential to know when playing BSH. Regular terms such as MYLO, LYLO, ML, etc. are found commonly in game and I assume that you know what these terms mean.
  7.
  8.
  9. Here is the layout of every possible setup that can be chosen randomly at the start of the game:
  10.
  11. Setup 1: 4 Villagers, 1 Cop, 1 Watcher, 1 Bomb, 1 Disguiser, 1 Stalker, and 1 Hooker.
  12.
  13. Setup 2: 4 Villagers, 1 Doctor (also known as the Doc), 1 Watcher, 1 Bomb, 1 Disguiser, 1 Stalker, and 1 Mafia (also known as the Nilla, which is short for Vanilla Mafia—the Mafia with no night action other than killing).
  14.
  15. Setup 3: 4 Villagers, 1 Doctor, 1 Cop, 1 Bomb, 1 Disguiser, 1 Stalker, and 1 Lawyer.
  16.
  17. Setup 4: 4 Villagers, 1 Doctor, 1 Cop, 1 Watcher, 1 Disguiser, 1 Stalker, and 1 Framer.
  18.
  19. Here are some things to remember when playing this setup:
  20.
  21. - There are always 4 Villagers, 1 Disguiser, and 1 Stalker, regardless of the setup.
  22. - The Bomb ALWAYS outs on Day 1 before anybody else.
  23. - The Bomb ALWAYS collects all claims via whisper, regardless of whether or not they are possibly be mafia.
  24. - Remember to Guise Test if you are ever even the slightest bit unsure that someone may be guised.
  25. - There are many possibilities for this setup. Always be on your toes and don’t let your guard down.
  26. - If there is a Hooker, that means that there is no Doctor in the setup that you are in (which is Setup 1).
  27. - If there is a Nilla, that means that there is no Cop in the setup that you are in (which is Setup 2).
  28. - If there is a Lawyer, that means that there is no Watcher in the setup that you are in (which is Setup 3).
  29. - If there is a Framer, that means that there is no Bomb in the setup that you are in (which is Setup 4).
  30. - Always have the Disguiser lead the kills. If they hit bomb or if the Watcher is on the kill, only the Disguiser will appear as having visited that role. The Disguiser is the least valuable Mafia role in all of the setups, so it makes sense that they should be leading the kills each night.
  31.
  32. Overall Mafia Strategy:
  33.
  34. First things first, figure out which setup you guys are in based on the roles in your team.
  35.
  36. - If you have a Hooker on your team, it’s setup 1.
  37. - If you have a Mafia, it’s setup 2.
  38. - If you have a Lawyer, it’s setup 3.
  39. - If you have a Framer, it’s setup 4.
  40.
  41. The only person who should ALWAYS be ccing a PR is the Disguiser.
  42.
  43. Every option and scenario is listed in the following table. A ✓indicates that it is ok to claim the role highlighted by it. An ✗indicates that it is not recommended to claim the role highlighted by it.
  44.
  45.
  46. Disguiser:
  47. What to Claim? Doctor Cop Watcher Bomb

  49. Setup 2 ✗ ✓ ✓ ✓
  50. Setup 3 ✗ ✓ ✓ ✓
  51. Setup 4 ✓ ✗ ✓ ✓
  52.
  53. Notes:
  54. - Always have the Disguiser lead the kills. If they hit bomb or if the Watcher is on the kill, only the Disguiser will appear as having visited that role. The Disguiser is the least valuable Mafia role in all of the setups, so it makes sense that they should be leading the kills each night.
  55. - If the Disguiser dies with the Bomb in Setup 1, do not cc Cop. Hooker can Hook Cop if Stalker and Hooker both remain alive after Day 1, then saccing the Cop is worth it for what will be 4-way MYLO on Day 3—favourable odds for Mafia.
  56. - If the Disguiser dies with the Bomb in Setup 2, then cc Cop. Try to get one of the Doc or Watcher lynched, because a Doc/Watcher team is very powerful, and it will be autowin if a mafia is lynched otherwise. You need to get a Town sided person lynched in this situation.
  57. - If the Disguiser dies with the Bomb in Setup 3, Lawyer should cc Cop and try to get them lynched, but only if the Doc wasn’t Stalked. If you leave Cop unccd, then you need to rely on hitting the Doc. If Doc was Stalked, I recommend the Stalker to whisper the Lawyer so that the Lawyer doesn’t claim.
  58. - Do not Hook on Night 1 if you are in Setup 1. If the Cop claims Hooked, it just gives away the setup. You can claim Hooked as Cop however if you are claiming it in any setup, suggesting that another PR would be fake. I do not recommend pursuing this strategy if there is a Doc save on Night 1.
  59. - I recommend to not Sac the Bomb on Night 2 unless the Doc is dead. You likely never know what is going on behind the scenes in whispers unless the clears are relatively ignorant to the setup, so never risk having the Doc save the Bomb, because that’s pretty much autoloss; only a mafia will die on Night 2 if that happens.
  60. - In Setup 1, the Hooker can only Hook the Cop. The Watcher cannot be Hooked.
  61. - In Setup 1, Hooker can claim Doc alongside Disguiser in order to try and make one mafia look clearer to the village. If this happens though, Disguiser MUST be lynched because if Hooker is lynched then it confirms the Disguiser as mafia as well. Stalker is more valuable than the other 2 mafia, and for this reason, they shouldn’t claim a PR when this strategy is taking place. High risk, high reward.
  62. - In Setup 2, Nilla can claim Cop alongside Disguiser in order to try and make one mafia look clearer to the village. If this happens though, Disguiser MUST be lynched because if Nilla is lynched then it confirms the Disguiser as mafia as well. Stalker is more valuable than the other 2 mafia, and for this reason, they shouldn’t claim a PR when this strategy is taking place. High risk, high reward.
  63. - In Setup 3, Lawyer can claim Watcher alongside Disguiser in order to try and make one mafia look clearer to the village. If this happens though, Disguiser MUST be lynched because if Lawyer is lynched then it confirms the Disguiser as mafia as well. Stalker is more valuable than the other 2 mafia, and for this reason, they shouldn’t claim a PR when this strategy is taking place. High risk, high reward.
  64. - In Setup 4, Framer can claim Bomb alongside Disguiser in order to try and make one mafia look clearer to the village. If this happens though, Disguiser MUST be lynched because if Framer is lynched then it confirms the Disguiser as mafia as well. Stalker is more valuable than the other 2 mafia, and for this reason, they shouldn’t claim a PR when this strategy is taking place. High risk, high reward.
  65. - Watcher is a hard PR to cc, but everyone knows it. Because of this, you can (ironically) claim it pretty easily in almost any setup. Just make sure that you don’t get a no visit on somebody who was visited, because that confirms you as mafia. Don’t have your partners back you up in this instance—with an ML, it makes it very likely for the village to win, even if they lynch a Town-sided person on Day 1. Claiming it in Setup 3 is probably your best option, but ccing Bomb means that the village is massclaiming, so you should be careful about it and be confident and quick with your claim. You’re not ccing Watcher—you are the Watcher. Nobody can tell you otherwise, because that is your role. Tell yourself that, even before the day begins. Winging it in TEO usually ends up as a mess. Remember, the setup is townsided.
  66. - Stalker can choose to guilty a PR by claiming Cop to the Bomb if they have stalked a PR (unless the Disguiser has already decided to cc Bomb during Night 1, in which case they would claim it out loud after a massclaim has been declared). Make it clear if you are going to do this at night time, but it may also be wise to not claim it at all and simply tell your partner via Whispers (if you suspect you’re going to be lynched) who your stalk was.
  67. - Setup 4 is the hardest for Mafia to win in. Claiming Bomb is likely your best option here, so that you at least know the PRs. If you don’t get a Town-sided role lynched on Day 1, it is nearly impossible to win. I recommend that the Disguiser ALWAYS claims Doc if there is a Doc save on Day 1 in Setup 4.
  68.
  69.
  70. I will now move on to the Town Strategy, walking through every scenario:
  71.
  72. Scenario 1: Villager or Mafia dead Night 1:
  73.
  74. Bomb claims. If the Bomb is unccd, the bomb collects all claims via Whispers through Whisper Code and lynches in PR ccs if there are any. If there are no PR ccs, make sure that every PR knows each other and lead a lynch in the Villager ccs.
  75.
  76. If the Bomb is ccd, then at this point everybody should massclaim. Whoever is clear can lead a lynch in any ccs. Make sure that every PR knows what to do and who to be on.
  77.
  78. The rest of the game is just using Process of Elimination (also known as PoE) with what you already have from reports and saves and whatnot combined with scumhunting in order to win the game.
  79.
  80. Scenario 2: Doctor, Cop, or Watcher dead Night 1:
  81.
  82. Bomb still claims, but if they get ccd, then you probably aren’t going to want to massclaim seeing as only one other PR is out there that isn’t the Bomb. The possibility of two mafia claiming Bomb in Setup 4 with a dead PR night 1 is outrageous, however, it can occur (this is a very risky strategy by mafia). Keep this in mind. Just take your 50/50 lynch and lynch in Bomb claims. The other PR should claim on Day 2 and lead.
  83.
  84. Scenario 3: Bomb dead with Mafia Night 1
  85.
  86. You have eight players, which means lynching incorrectly will lead to MYLO. With this in mind, you can bet that NLing can get a PR killed because of Stalker, plus mafia don’t need to kill 2 times in a row, giving the Cop and Watcher 2 reports (if there is one or both of them), but giving the Mafia extra stalks simply doesn’t compensate for that.
  87.
  88. Have the Cop claim aloud and collect the claims. If the Cop is ccd, then lynch in Cops. Don’t massclaim, because there is only one other PR alive. Lynch in Cops. If the Cop is unccd, lynch in PR ccs if you have them. If there are none, then lynch in Villager claims. And make sure that all the PRs know each other and that they each know who to be on at night.
  89.
  90. Scenario 4: Bomb dead without a Mafia Night 1
  91.
  92. Doc does NOT claim. Cop claims. If Cop is ccd, then the Doc claims with their save. Lynch in PR ccs. If Doc and Cop are both ccd, then lynch in blues or test a doc by lynching who one of them claimed to have saved. If they both claimed to have saved the same person, then lynch that person, as that person is confirmed mafia.
  93.
  94.
  95. Observe the following line. This has to do with PRs at night time:
  96.
  97. Watcher -> Doc/Cop; Doc -> Cop/Watcher
  98.
  99. This basically means:
  100.
  101. - The Watcher should ALWAYS be on the Doctor if there is one. If there is no Doctor, then the Watcher should be on the Cop.
  102. - The Doctor should always be on the Cop. If there is no Cop, then the Doctor should be on the Watcher.
  103.
  104. No matter the scenario, the PRs should always know each other. Something is wrong if this isn’t the case.
  105.
  106. Helpful Hints for Town:
  107.
  108. - Because of the possibility of a framer (unless another mafia that gives away a setup is lynched), the Cop should always check in Villager Claims because it’s better to check in Villager claims rather than in PRs in which there is a 50/50 lynch guaranteed.
  109. - If at any point in the game the Hooker, Nilla, or Framer are dead, then all innos are clear, as this means that there is no Lawyer in any setup.
