  1. [22:41:31] <Botherer> So... Rainy. Today is a Saturday! However, unlike normal little girls, you’ve still got to go to school today! The good news is, it’s Art School at the Community Center! With your dad! Your mom had to go to work today, and took Nono off with her again today, so being an at least somewhat responsible parent (as opposed to the time he thought it was a good idea to let you play with the Seviper he brought home for his clay sculpture... Though you did get some weird organ as a memento from the experience), he decided to bring you and Nini along for the ride!
  2. [23:45] <Rainy> "Hey Daddy, isn't Nini the double-coolest, now? 'Cause she was the coolest at first and she knew Dragon Rage so she could fix almost anything AND THEN she learned Super Dragon Rage which actually breaks things instead like that time that mean person said my drawing was bad and then Nini made it better by using Dragon Rage to mess up his dumb snubbull drawing and then he got mad and sent out
  3. [23:45] <Rainy> that weird pokemon that looked like a big round ball and Nini used Super Dragon Rage and it couldn't fight anymore! Dragonairs are so cool~"
  4. 01[23:49] <Botherer> Your dad takes a sip out of a giant cucumber he’s forcefully jammed a plastic bendy straw into. “Yes, Rainy. They are the coolest. Right up there with the jelly-filled Marshmallow Igglybuffs. Magically delicious, with a burst of rainbows in every bite!”
  5. [23:52] <Rainy> "Did I tell you about my dream-krabby? It's a kotton kandy krabby and it makes delicious candy and it smells really sweet and it likes to sleep on Nono's head lots."
  6. 01[23:56] <Botherer> Your dad sports a goofy grin, visible even through the old, weathered scarf, once a host of much brighter colors before several years, possibly decades, of washing liquids stripped it of its vibrancy, that you swear he’s been wearing since the day you started remembering things... Mostly because there’s a giant tear right over the part covering his mouth. “That sounds incredible, dear! When we get to the Community Center, you’re gonna have to make a painting of that! Be my assistant, show these folks how art is truly made!”
  7. [23:57] <Rainy> "Got it, Daddy! We'll blow their art airships out of the skies!"
  8. 01[23:59] <Botherer> “Indeed we shall, Rainy... Indeed we shall!” The walk there was something out of a Disney movie, what with your dad frolicking through the woods (he insisted on cutting through, even though following the road was a more direct path) and singing with the chirping Swablu and stopping to play with the Deerling... It was fun times whether you wanted them or not. Which, of course, implies Rainy doesn’t want fun. But now you’ve made it to the Community Center, and it looks... Well, the easels set up around the room, all set up towards a bowl of berries, are the closest to your dad’s art studio it gets. The supplies are actually neatly organized, there’s no Pokemon running around the room, and worst of all, the walls, floor, and ceiling, are only one color each!
  9. [00:00] <Rainy> "Daddy, this place is... weird."
  10. 01[00:02] <Botherer> You see all kinds of people, of all ages, shapes, sizes, colors, hairstyles, and piercings (or lack thereof) slowly filing in, with the level of enthusiasm seeming inversely proportionate to the level of youth, as they put their belongings against the wall and take their positions at the side. “Yes, Rainy, I know it’s weird...” Ssssslurp. “They don’t even have Butterfree performing their courtship dances for one another on the windowsill.”
  11. 01[00:03] <Botherer> This is in part to there being no windowsill... ‘cause there’s no window. The only light comes from those horrid artificial light bars. No open windows or candles within sight.
  12. [00:03] <Rainy> Rainy runs right up to the person closest to her age and hurriedly asks them, "Hey! We need to make this place into an art-house, so you start drawing a sun and I'll make the moon and then we can add some pokeymans, okay?!"
  13. 01[00:06] <Botherer> You approach a kid with short, ruffled black hair and freckles, a nasally, whiny voice emerging from his throat. “But... But the program said today we were going to paint a berry bowl! This is confusing... And hard... Why’d my mom make me take this class?”
  14. [00:07] <Rainy> "Ohhhh, I get it."
  15. [00:07] <Rainy> Rainy narrows her eyes.
  16. [00:07] <Rainy> "You're one of... them."
  17. 01[00:07] <Botherer> “You... You do?”
  18. 01[00:08] <Botherer> “Them? Who are ‘them’?” You got the kid panicked and all worked up now, beads of sweat starting to drip off his forehead.
  19. [00:08] <Rainy> "Uh huuuuuuuuuuuh. You're not an artist, are you?!"
  20. 01[00:09] <Botherer> “No, I... I never wanted to take this class!” ;_; “My mom just makes me come here every weekend so she can go out and have lunch with her friends!”
  21. [00:10] <Rainy> "Okay. I'll show you the way of the artist."
  22. [00:10] <Rainy> What art supplies are available?
  23. 01[00:12] <Botherer> Let’s see... There’s a whole bunch of pencils, and paints of all the different colors of the rainbow. A wide array of brushes, suitable for every width and variety of brushstroke you could think of making... Paper towels and cotton swabs for blending and preventing bleeding... Some mirrors... Charcoal and other stuff for the other drawing classes... Feel free to add anything else you think would be appropriate for them to have in an art room.
  24. 01[00:13] <Botherer> Along with some things that wouldn’t be. They probably have all kinds of silly props in the boxes around the room for sculptures and making still lifes.
  25. [00:13] <Rainy> Paper.
  26. [00:13] <Rainy> First thing Rainy does is grab paper
  27. [00:13] <Rainy> And a pencil
  28. [00:13] <Rainy> She draws a perfect circil
  29. [00:13] <Rainy> what
  30. [00:13] <Rainy> circle
  31. [00:13] <Rainy> I'm sleepy leave me alone
  32. [00:14] <Rainy> Then
  33. [00:14] <Rainy> She puts an X through the circle
  34. [00:14] <Rainy> "This is not art."
  35. [00:15] <Rainy> "You have to discover art for yourself. That's the way. There are many kinds of art, for example, Dragon Rage is an art because you can only use Dragon Rage every little while because your dragon has to recover before you use it again and so you have to get the most out of it but Dragon Rage is reliable and it'll always hit stuff just as hard which makes it about timing so that's the art in
  36. [00:15] <Rainy> Dragon Rage, deciding when to use it!"
  37. 01[00:18] <Botherer> Rainy, you hear clapping. Your dad speaks up. “Wonderful, Rainy! Truer words have never been spoken.” He directs everyone in your direction. “Listen to this girl. Listen to her well! She has embraced the true spirit of art! Listen to her. Allow her to pick the lock of your mind, and release the caged bird that is your soul! ... Aaat least while I step outside to take a whaz. If you take any piece of advice from me that isn’t of art, it’s that cucumber juice is very abrasive to your bladders!”
  38. 01[00:19] <Botherer> He steps outside. Spotlight’s on you, Rainy. Everyone is watching. Some hanging on pins and needles, others rolling their eyes and chattering about how she’s just a stupid girl and that she’s just plain nuts like her father is.
  39. [00:19] <Rainy> "Ahem."
  40. [00:20] <Rainy> "Hi everybody!"
  41. [00:20] <Rainy> "My name's Rainy."
  42. [00:20] <Rainy> "If you have anything that's not waterproof you should put it outside this room for now, okay?"
  43. 01[00:21] <Botherer> Nini’s taken up an easel nearby, and is etching away at a canvas. The people have, again, varied responses. Unfortunately, the droll monotone lack of enthusiasm outweighs the enthusiasm, and you get one of those droll “Good afternoon, teacher”-esque responses as the end result.
  44. 01[00:22] <Botherer> Followed by a couple of old ladies going “Isn’t she adorable? Bless her young heart” and making similar comments like the chatty cathies they are.
  45. [00:22] <Rainy> Rainiy walks over to Nini and whispers to her.
  46. [00:22] <Rainy> -i
  47. 01[00:22] <Botherer> Your comment on the ‘move the not-waterproofed things outside’ gets you some weird glances.
  48. [00:23] <Rainy> "I need you to draw a sunny day with some rain so there's a rainbow, okay?"
  49. 01[00:24] <Botherer> Nini nods enthusiastically and begins to get to work. It’s at this point that people are starting to take interest in the painting Dragonair. “Look at it paint!” “How can it even do that without any hands?” “Can it even paint a straight line like that?”
  50. 01[00:24] <Botherer> Nini moves the easel away. No peeking yet!
  51. [00:24] <Rainy> "Art is not a skill! Art is not a hobby!"
  52. [00:25] <Rainy> "Art is...!"
  53. [00:25] <Rainy> She waits for Nini to finish before letting them know what art is. And of course this drawing is meant to Rain Dance when it's revealed!
  54. 01[00:26] <Botherer> OH boy. ... This might take a moment.
  55. 01[00:28] <Botherer> Started up a doodle on Paint. Trust me when I say you’re gonna like this~
  56. [00:29] <Rainy> Sugoi
  57. 01[00:29] <Botherer> http://i.imgur.com/SHQAK.jpg
  58. 01[00:30] <Botherer> As Nini drops this piece of artwork and turns it around, the crowd gasps in “Oooh”s and “Aaaah”s... And some “That’s stupid!” “That’s not art!” “It’s a stupid Pokemon, of course it’s not gonna make good art!”
  59. 01[00:31] <Botherer> ... And then their comments turn into shock as the rain clouds literally pour out of the page and up towards the roof.
  60. [00:31] <Rainy> And then RAIN BURST FROM THE HEAVENS OF THE CEILING IN A FLASH RAINSTORM WITHOUT CLOUDS.
  61. [00:31] <Rainy> Something like that.
  62. 01[00:31] <Botherer> ... Or that.
  63. 01[00:31] <Botherer> That works, too.
  64. [00:31] <Rainy> "Art!"
  65. [00:31] <Rainy> "Is!"
  66. [00:31] <Rainy> "EMOTION!"
  67. 01[00:31] <Botherer> The emotion of the day is ‘Shock’ and ‘Fear’
  68. 01[00:32] <Botherer> “Wha.... What did it do? You can’t do that with art!” Nervous freckle boy pulls up his black hoodie and covers his face as best as he can.
  69. [00:32] <Rainy> "Art has power!"
  70. [00:33] <Rainy> "Art can stretch between worlds, between race, between people and pokeymans!"
  71. 01[00:34] <Botherer> You’re not sure if the mascara running down the older ladies’ faces is them weeping tears of joy, or just the rain ruining their faces. “This is stupid!” “We’re getting wet! Turn it off!” “Your dad’s so getting fired when they find out about this!” “Oh hell naw, you done messed up mah weave!”
  72. 01[00:38] <Botherer> ... The comments following not necessarily coming from the old ladies.
  73. [00:43] <Rainy> "Now, Nini! Aqua jet like we practiced!" She orders the dragonair to dash around the room, tackling the paints into the right mixture. In her mind, she has a grand master plan. The rain will stop when everything's in just the right place to leave the walls, the floor, everything but the ceiling completely painted with color--but not just tye-dye! Whether it will work... Who knows, but she at
  74. [00:43] <Rainy> least believes it will! Specifically, she seeks to create a plains scene on the floor with field pokemon frolicking about. One wall is a sky scene, complete with Altaria. The second is underwater. Milotic, dragonair, gyarados, and all manner of squirtle evolution forms fill it. The third wall is space. There are clefairies and the like bouncing around with porygons and a deoxys. The fourth
  75. [00:43] <Rainy> wall has a dreamy aesthetic to it and is filled with all manner of fantastical pokemon, such as a baby giratina. Haha, no way something like that could exist. Of course, there are other, unmentioned mons in them all, but those are just the highlights.
  76. [00:43] <Rainy> Or maybe it's all just a blurry mess? Who knows.
  77. 01[00:44] <Botherer> In other words... She just completely totalled the room?
  78. [00:44] <Rainy> That or she turned it from drab room into having murals all over the walls.
  79. [00:44] <Rainy> It could go either way, maybe even both.
  80. 01[00:47] <Botherer> The result is... Interesting, to say the least. It’s successful to a degree, but there were people in the way. Screaming people. Screaming people whose bodies are now completely and utterly coated from head to toe in paint across one side of their body. In effect, the paintings are incomplete because they were in the way.
  81. [00:47] <Rainy> "Okay! Alright, everyone. It's your turn to make art! We'll complete the murals together."
  82. [00:48] <Rainy> Rainy tries to muster all of her charisma to lead them into forming a semi-cohesive art-team.
  83. 01[00:48] <Botherer> The rain stops dripping, and people look around at the resultant chaos in the room around them. Roll Charisma, Rainy!
  84. 01[00:48] <Botherer> In #aesop or #dreamscape
  85. 01[00:53] <Botherer> For having completely totalled the room, the response you get is amazing. I mean, sure, some people stormed out the door, the woman whose weave you totalled screamin’ “You go’n’ hear from mah hair stylist!” But of course you’ve got your little old lady brigade, smiles across their paint-coated faces (and in one case, wig lying on the floor soaking up all different colors) and brushes quivering in their unsteady hands as they bend over to pool some of the leftover paint. ...
  86. 01[00:53] <Botherer> The little freckled boy’s eyes are alit, completely awestruck by Nini’s work.
  87. 01[00:54] <Botherer> And you’ve got quite a few others taking arm and coming over to the walls to help fill in the holes.
  88. [00:54] <Rainy> Rainy bounces around the room directing people! The floor gets smudged up, but that's okay. The grass can just have that sort of aesthetic to it, as long as people avoid the pokemon drawn there.
  89. 01[00:57] <Botherer> Your dad comes in through the door, this time slurping down an avocado, you swear the bendy straw’s a different color from the last. Subtly, but definitely different. The avocado swiftly drops to the floor as he screams out “Holy Wailord Jellicent Cherubi! Rainy, what have you done?”
  90. 01[00:57] <Botherer> All heads turn to you and Nini.
  91. [00:58] <Rainy> "Art."
  92. 01[01:01] <Botherer> They gauge your father’s reaction. His face goes from shock to anger... Sort of. “Rainy via Renata, you are in so much trouble when we get home! This isn’t our home! You can’t just go around... Throwing paint at... Other people’s...”
  93. [01:01] <Rainy> "B-but... I did art!"
  94. 01[01:02] <Botherer> His face begins to visibly deteriorate, and quickly at that. “Oh, who am I kidding! Someone, stop and call the papers! This girl has blessed the world with a miracle to all art!”
  95. [01:03] <Rainy> Rainy beams proudly! "I practiced lots~"
  96. 01[01:05] <Botherer> The spectators all d’aaaw as your dad picks you up in a hug. He’s also currently the only person in the room who isn’t soaked from head to toe in paint.
  97. 01[01:07] <Botherer> “Rainy, if...” He begins to sniffle. “If only your mother were here... To see this!” He’s totally crying in your arms. Happy tears, mind you, but you now have some weepy eyed old ladies around you, too.
  98. [01:08] <Rainy> Rainy pats her Daddy's back and nods solemnly, "I know Daddy... I know..." Nini probably wraps around them both--she's 13 feet long she can probably do that multiple times over, even--as she gives her father a big hug!
  99. 01[01:10] <Botherer> Nini easily wraps around the both of you twice. But not before throwing a whole big mess of paint all over your dad’s back.
  100. [01:10] <Rainy> Naturally.
  101. [01:10] <Rainy> "I title this piece... The Community Corner Cube!"
  102. 01[01:12] <Botherer> The audience gives a round of applause, as well as some whistles and horrors.
  103. [01:13] <Rainy> "Thanks for being a part of this, everybody!"
  104. 01[01:15] <Botherer> You and your dad and everyone returns to work, and as you guys are all in the midst of making a beautiful mess of everything, a news crew comes in, and they nearly drop their cameras and microphones upon entering. ... Would you wanna do an in-character interview?
  105. [01:16] <Rainy> Rhetorical question, I hope.
  106. 01[01:17] <Botherer> I was hoping the answer to that would’ve been yes.
  107. [01:18] <Rainy> I'm saying I'll do it you dumb
  108. 01[01:18] <Botherer> I know that!
  109. [01:18] <Rainy> oh okay
  110. 01[01:21] <Botherer> You get a camera pointed straight at your head, from a good distance away, and a beam of light shines down on you. A tall, caramel-toned woman in a crimson business suit with the skirt wielding a microphone drops down to her knees next to you and smiles. “Hi, I’m Susie Carbuncle, here at the <What Town Does Rainy Live In?> Community Center, where a young girl is in the midst of creating a great work of art!” The cameraman spins around the room a moment before pointing his camera right back at your face.
  111. [01:23] <Rainy> Girls are deciding on town names.
  112. [01:25] <Rainy> Graphite Grove.
  113. [01:25] <Rainy> Rainy waves to the camera with a big, goofy grin.
  114. 01[01:31] <Botherer> “Just mere hours ago, the walls of this room were as bare as the Great Hoenn Deserts, but as you can see they’ve been cast over with something truly breathtaking... All coming from the mind of this eleven year old girl!” Susie points the microphone to your face.
  115. [01:31] <Rainy> "Hi my name's Rainy and I like art, the rain, and Dragon Rage."
  116. 01[01:32] <Botherer> Susie lets out a little chuckle. “Tell me, Rainy...Where did you get the inspiration for such a piece? What was the spark in that head of yours that told you ‘I want to make this’?”
  117. [01:33] <Rainy> "My dreams, my pokeymans, and most of all, my Daddy because he's the bestest artist in the world except for me in a few years~"
  118. [01:34] <Rainy> "That's where my inspiration came from! Nini my Dragonair helped out a super big bunch because she can make it rain and I'm Rainy so that fits perfectly right and so my pokeyman and I decided we'd make a special new kind of art."
  119. 01[01:37] <Botherer> The camera is directed towards Nini, who’s in the middle of painting the scales on a Giratina. Nini can be surprisingly detailed when she’s not out to make cute, quick scribbles. “Teaching your Dragonair to use a paintbrush is no small feat. How did you teach it to use a paintbrush?”
  120. [01:39] <Rainy> "By teaching her Art! Like I told everybody Art is about emotion not language or words or anything like that and everybody knows and can see pokeymans have emotions too and Nini spends lots of time around me and Daddy so she's seen us do Art and she took it to heart hahaha that rhymes but anyway really I'm serious I like to teach pokeymans things so teaching her to use a paintbrush was nothing
  121. [01:39] <Rainy> but practice and teaching her Art just something she learned on her own just like anybody can."
  122. 01[01:43] <Botherer> “A girl and her Pokemon making art together... I can’t think of much more heartwarming than that. Any last words for those aspiring artists out there, Rainy?”
  123. 01[01:44] <Botherer> “Anything else you have to say to help them on the right track to making an impression in the art world?”
  124. 01[01:45] <Botherer> -world +community
  125. [01:45] <Rainy> "Yeah! I just want to say..."
  126. [01:46] <Rainy> "Do it the Omecha Lainy way! Believe in yourself and put everything you've got into it! Art is emotion so use your passion!"
  127. 01[01:50] <Botherer> “The Omecha Lainy way... Having her own unique art style... Truly a revolutionary mind! We’ll be looking forward to seeing your next masterpiece, Rainy~” Susie playfully ruffles Rainy’s hair.
  128. [01:50] <Rainy> "Yes ma'am!"
  129. 01[01:54] <Botherer> Susie wraps up the interview with you and goes around talking to the rest of the people in the room, inclusive to your father. They even tried to interview Nini, though that didn’t quite go all that well since Nini just kind of doodled things on a wet piece of paper in response to their questions. Once they’re all wrapped up, your dad drops down to his knees before you. “You’re a real piece of work, y’know that, Rainy? You make me real proud to be your father!”
  130. [01:55] <Rainy> "Thanks Daddy! I learned lots of it from you."
  131. 01[01:56] <Botherer> He scoops you up, stacking you atop his shoulders, and starts walking out the door. “You’ll have to tell me about this ‘Omecha Lainy’ way of yours over an ice cream cone, though!”
  132. [01:57] <Rainy> "You bet, Daddy! Nini wants ice cream too though but she needs her own scoop because she grew and she's gonna keep getting bigger so she needs to eat!"
  133. 01[01:58] <Botherer> “Oh, she deserves her own bowl for what she helped you make!”
  134. [01:59] <Rainy> "Woohoooo! I love you Daddy and Nini~"
  135. 01[02:01] <Botherer> “I love you, too, Rainy~” Nini slithers up your dad’s leg, around his body, up his neck and across your torso to make herself a scarf for you! And so the two of you set off into the afternoon light, looking like you were tossed around in a tumble dryer full of paint (I almost said blender before reconsidering), in pursuit of delicious ice creams!
