- Maybe she's just being friendly? I... I suppose it can't hurt to wave back.
- Pulling a face that either expresses happiness, or pure fear -- I can't tell for sure, maybe a mix of both -- I acknowledge her with a lazy wave of my hand.
- r "Think fast, Luke!"
- I didn't quite catch that, what did she say?
- p "Hrrk!"
- Before I know what's truly happening, a basketball rockets my way and rebounds off of my head with the impact of a runaway freight train.
- I twirl on the spot before crumpling to the floor, my heading ringing and my eyes gazing skyward, just barely conscious.
- r "Yeesh! I've met old people with faster reflexes."
- Rachel looms over my dazed form. Or... three Rachels, maybe. It's hard to say.
- r "You alright? C'mon, up ya get!"
- One of the Rachels extends a hand towards me, of which I waste no time in grabbing -- after several failed attempts of grabbing at air of course. I don't think I'd be able to stand upright on my own even if I tried.
- r "Aaaand up we go!"
- Rachel pulls me back up on my feet with ease -- with one hand, even!
- r "Sorry 'bout that. Maybe I threw it a little too hard?
- A 'little' was a bit of an understatement. I'm lucky to still have my head attached to my shoulders!
- I wobble some as I regain my balance, my head still stinging from the impact. Getting hit by a basketball apparently REALLY hurts.
- r "So, do you remember me from yesterday?"
- Remember her? Of course I do! How could I forget her after how crazy last night was?"
- Dazed, I nod in response, still not sure if I can remember how to form words yet.
- She beams at me, looking fairly excited about this whole thing.
- ...Whoa, I never noticed this before, but standing right next to her like this, she's really tall. I actually have to angle my head upwards a little to meet her eyes.
- r "Awesome. We didn't really get a chance to talk back then, did we? Blame Katherine for hogging the spotlight the whole time. She just loves the sound of her own voice."
- p "I... I didn't really get a chance to talk either. To be honest, I'm not even sure what last night was..."
