  1. 01[20:32] <@zoofman> It's morning of the day you've been scheduled to head out into the storm. A bit murkier than normal, you must say.
  2. 06[20:32] * @Harphe actually looks relatively perky this morning.
  3. [20:32] <@Harphe> "All right, everyone! Have you some method of protection from the cold?"
  4. [20:33] <Gelato> "Hmm i am actually immune from it, my dear. Years of conditioning and my natural shaggy coat, i must say."
  5. [20:33] <@Harphe> "Then why did you make that poor girl go into the storm instead of offering to go yourself? :T"
  6. 01[20:34] <@zoofman> As for further instructions than that, you were simply told via a courier the previous night to meet up at the lost village, which is the name the people around camp have sort of adopted for the little town by the storm you found a few days prior.
  7. [20:34] <Syl_> "No need to worry about me in that regard."
  8. [20:35] <Gelato> "My opinion was not asked at that time, hmmhmm." He nods while approaching the outskirts of the woods.
  9. [20:35] <@Harphe> "In any case, I'd like to see if our mysterious friends of ages past left any written records."
  10. 06[20:35] * @Harphe heads for the teleporter.
  11. 01[20:37] <@zoofman> VWWOOOOOOP
  12. 01[20:38] <@zoofman> On the other side, you find a few familiar faces amongst the people there. Beard Beard, in particular, standing next to a collection of Chocobos. White feathered ones! "KWEH"
  13. [20:38] <Syl_> "....wonderful."
  14. [20:38] <@Harphe> "Awww, lookit them."
  15. [20:38] <@Harphe> "I mean. I see we are to be provided transporation, then?"
  16. [20:38] <Gelato> "White chocobos, hmmhmm. Those are known to be used by healers, and are some rare ones on parts of Ivalice."
  17. 01[20:38] <@zoofman> Also with him is Ride, the Hypello, with his Shoopuf, Mishtur Hoofsh. It's...significantly larger than you last saw it. And has giant snowshoes on. "Hello everybody!" Says Ride as he waves.
  18. [20:39] <@Harphe> "...I. Well. That's fascinating."
  19. [20:40] <Gelato> "Oh, but will our transportation be that large creature or the smaller ones? Hoho!"
  20. 01[20:42] <@zoofman> "Oi, hallo missus n' Mr.'s," calls Beard Beard from atop one of the birds. "Seems da two o' us are to accompany you on dis journy out into da storm. Ride's beast is pretty packed down wit supplies, we ain't sure how long a treck we got. Few devices to plant on da way ta boot in case things go sour."
  21. [20:43] <Syl_> "What are these devices? More teleportation units?"
  22. 01[20:43] <@zoofman> "Yup."
  23. 01[20:43] <@zoofman> He points to a row of them lined and tied down on the Shoopuff.
  24. 01[20:44] <@zoofman> "As for da rest of us, tundra ready Chocobos." "KWEH."
  25. [20:44] <Gelato> "Hmm, so we are to set more of them? An interesting plan, i must say." Gelato nods while approaching one of the Chocobos.
  26. [20:45] <Syl_> "Hopefully they're well-trained."
  27. 01[20:46] <@zoofman> "For birdsh, they are of zee highesht quality! If...shlightly ushed!" Boasts Ride from atop of Mishur Hoofsh
  28. [20:49] <Syl_> "....and hopefully not coming out of our paychecks."
  29. 06[20:49] * Syl_ pats one of the Chocobos, trying to determine its demeanor.
  30. 01[20:50] <@zoofman> "Course not, dey ain't our own personal birds, Syl."
  31. [20:50] <Gelato> "Saheed is too decent for that, anyway."
  32. 01[20:50] <@zoofman> "KWEH" It nudges Syl affectionatly :3c
  33. [20:51] <Syl_> "Right. Seems we'll be traveling together for a little while. May as well get to know each other."
  34. [20:51] <Syl_> "Do they have names?"
  35. 01[20:52] <@zoofman> Beard looks to Ride quickly, making sure he didn't hear that, then says in a low volume. "You don't wanna hear the pet silly names he came up for em, best pick a new one."
  36. [20:53] <Syl_> "...."
  37. 06[20:53] * Syl_ simply mounts up without further comment.
  38. 01[20:55] <@zoofman> Once everyone is mounted up and secured, Ride flicks whistles a few times, says something in a language not any of you can put a finger on, and you set off into the storm.
  39. 01[20:58] <@zoofman> The trip is a slow one at first, as the birds and the large blue beast get their bearings. It's much windier beyond the wall, and a good bit chillier.
  40. 01[21:00] <@zoofman> Along the way, you pass several towns, all of which much as Zeid described to Syl, abandoned, as if everyone just got up and left. The first few have devices set up in them already, but as you progress further, Beard Beard takes some time to set up one every other town.
  41. 01[21:01] <@zoofman> Progress picks up however as the animals get used to things.
  42. 01[21:02] <@zoofman> Near dusk, the wind and heavy snow start to lessen, and eventually fade. "Tally ho! We can actually see fifteen paces in front of us now. Musta reached the eye of the -oh bless the makers."
  43. 06[21:03] * Gelato rides the chocobo at a leisury pace, looking at the surroundings on the way. "Hmmhmm, beautiful landscape i must say."
  44. 01[21:03] <@zoofman> Your entourage stands atop a hill, below you, in a valley, sits a large, sprawling, silent city.
  45. 01[21:05] <@zoofman> Buildings of stone, crescented roofs, very light snowfall. From the center of town, surrounded by a frozen moat, sits a gold and crimson red palace.
  46. 01[21:08] <@zoofman> "Dat...yup, dat looks like a capitol city. Huh. Realy...weird to see somethin' like that...and it's silent out here."
  47. [21:09] <Gelato> "Well, it is a ghost town, hmm hmm..."
  48. [21:10] <Syl_> "This will take quite a bit of time to scout out if we're the only ones here."
  49. 01[21:10] <@zoofman> Ride whistles. "Ish pretty, but...erriee. Shall we prosheed?"
  50. 01[21:15] <@zoofman> (I'll take silence as a yes :<)
  51. [21:15] <Gelato> "Of course." Gelato says while holding the Chocobo's reins. "We should take care not to leave anyone split up alone though."
  52. [21:15] <Gelato> (bluh sorry was writing it)
  53. 01[21:18] <@zoofman> Eventually you make your ways down the hill, to the lost city below.
  54. 01[21:20] <@zoofman> Ride finds an abandoned stable near the entrance, and fastens the birds up, along with his Shoopuff.
  55. [21:21] <Gelato> "Hmmm, now how shall we start the exploration?"
  56. 01[21:22] <@zoofman> Before you sits what once was a dirt road, now snow packed and...a large, large city. Beard Beard takes one look at it, gulps, "Roight, gonna set up a teleporter first and uh...mother o' Altana where do we even start?"
  57. [21:24] <Syl_> "...."
  58. [21:24] <Gelato> "Hmm, if we knew what each of those buildings were..."
  59. [21:24] <Gelato> (What roll to identify important buildings?)
  60. 01[21:25] <@zoofman> (bluh sorry got distracted myself by my dad)
  61. 01[21:29] <@zoofman> (god damn it brb aaaarg)
  62. 01[21:30] <@zoofman> "I believe I could assist with that."
  63. 03[21:32] <Gelato> (zoof?)
  64. 01[21:32] <@zoofman> that wasn't a voice you recognize.
  65. 06[21:33] * Gelato turns to the unknown person, suddenly startled by it. "Were we followed?"
  66. 01[21:34] <@zoofman> 2d6+5

  68. 01[21:34] <@zoofman> A snowball pegs Gelato in the face. A half melted one. "No, I'm down here." :T
  69. [21:35] <Gelato> "Yeo-who?" He looks to the ground, still puzzled by the voice and the sudden snowballing!
  70. 01[21:36] <@zoofman> Standing at Syl's side is a fiery apparation of a young girl, no older than ten. She resembles the fox people you've seen thus far.
  71. 01[21:37] <@zoofman> Ride and Beard are all the STAAAARE
  72. 01[21:37] <@zoofman> "I could assist you with that. I...used to live here, I think," she says.
  73. [21:38] <Gelato> "Ah, a ghost." Gelato says with a dismissive nod before realizing what the fuck did he just said. "...Wait a minute..."
  74. [21:39] <Syl_> "What do you remember?" Syl asks her.
  75. [21:40] <Gelato> "And what do you want with us, little undead girl?"
  76. 01[21:41] <@zoofman> "Ghost isn't entirely correct," she says as she latches onto Syl. "I am part of her, and she is part of me. However...normally only she can see me."
  77. 01[21:42] <@zoofman> The little fox girl looks around curiously. "There is a powerful spiritual presence here at the moment, that might explain why all of you can see me."
  78. [21:43] <Gelato> "That... Is quite unsettling, i must say." He examines the fiery fox female further.
  79. [21:44] <Syl_> "It's....something. I don't know what the presence is. There are all sorts of emotions from it."
  80. [21:44] <Syl_> "Maybe from the dead here."
  81. 01[21:45] <@zoofman> She looks up to Syl. "I remember a few things, and facts. I know I wasn't a child when I passed away. I also know I wasn't here the day this storm began. Other than that...I recall my childhood. And a few other things here and there."
  82. [21:48] <Syl_> "You fled the storm?"
  83. [21:48] <Syl_> "Or....did you leave for some other reason?"
  84. 01[21:48] <@zoofman> "No, I didn't flee. I just wasn't here. Elsewhere on Rhazowa."
  85. [21:50] <Gelato> "Hmm, well if you did not died on the storm, it might mean that your race... It might have escaped it?"
  86. 01[21:51] <@zoofman> She clutches her head, shakes it. "I...don't know where I was. Or who I was with, or what I was doing. Just that I am Mei Lein, and my childhood..."
  87. 01[21:52] <@zoofman> "What I do know is whatever caused this storm is still here. I can feel it," the little fiery spirit shivers, and looks to the crimson palace.
  88. [21:57] <Gelato> "Yes, the creature who did that, if the storm was caused by one, should still be around here. What sort of ancient... Thing that did it however... It makes me shudder just to think about it." The Nu Mou gives a worried look to Syl.
  89. [21:57] <Syl_> "We're going to need backup, I think."
  90. [21:58] <Syl_> "Look around before we go after....whatever it is."
  91. 01[22:00] <@zoofman> Mei Lein closes her eyes for a bit, swaying back and forth a bit. "Ah...I...think I know how we can all find out what happened that day. Can you feel it too, Syl?" (give me a channeling check)

  94. 01[22:11] <@zoofman> Syl gets a vague idea of what Mei Lein is referring to. The presence here seems to be centered around a point that's...not the palace. Somewhere else in the city.
  95. 01[22:13] <@zoofman> "There's...a gateway of sorts here, if it's what I think it is..." Mei Lein darts off into the city.
  96. [22:13] <Syl_> "Hey, wait!"
  97. 06[22:16] * Gelato follows Mei Lein. "Come, Syl, we should not dawdle."
