  1. okay. here's why. it's a bit long and stupid and whiny and unrelated until the end.
  2.
  3. Back in 2010, Mass Effect 2 came out. I love that series. love it to death. All of its creativity and new idea and.. everything. all of it, was amazing to me. I cared about all the characters, all their stories. For me, that series was everything at the time. Bioware was one of my favorite companies.
  4.
  5. Then something happened between EA and bioware.
  6. One of the head writers left Bioware. Things were cut out of the game to be sold as day one DLC. Multiplayer was something that was added for no reason.
  7.
  8. I didn’t mind these things at the time. Bioware couldn’t do anything wrong. How could they?
  9.
  10.
  11. Then I played 3. Things were immediately different or out of place.
  12. A lot of important characters were pushed to the side or killed soon after their reintroductions. Your choices, (something all the games have touted as being important, since they carry over from game to game) were largely ignored or inconsequential.
  13.
  14. This kinda made me mad, but whatever. It was still interesting. Things were happening. And stuff was engaging. I guess.
  15.
  16. Until I got to the end. Things stopped making sense. A unexplained space ghost laid out three options for me that weren’t different. I couldn’t ask questions or have the choices explained to me. All my choices suddenly didn’t matter. None of them.
  17.
  18. Through a giant plot hole, everyone died of starvation. Even if that was ignored, you didn’t win. Weird space magic was touted as the “good ending” as opposed to the bad ending, which accomplished what you had set out to do at the beginning of the series.
  19.
  20. I’m rambling now. Point is. wtf bioware?
  21.
  22. I couldn’t believe it, my favorite series had most of its ingenuity destroyed in what was it’s last 15 minutes. I couldn’t even think about mass effect. It hurt to think about. Bioware suddenly didn’t care as much about the story as most fans did. I later found out EA forced a lot of crap on them, and it shows.
  23.
  24. For a couple months, i just kinda wallowed in sadness. I couldn’t look or think about Mass Effect. I didn’t allow myself to get attached to anything. It had the possibility of ending the same way.
  25. I didn’t want that.
  26.
  27. During whichever summer was after that, I finally let it go a little. I started MLP.
  28.
  29. And holy crap, i was happy. A new series I could care about. That was respected. Characters I liked a bunch.
  30.
  31. Things starting getting weird when Lauren Faust left. I was really uncomfortable about that. but hey, what were the odds of what happened happening again here? right?
  32.
  33. Then season 3 came around. I didn’t know to think.
  34.
  35. That last episode felt like the ending mass effect. I didn’t like that whole episode. Not the forced songs. Not the incredibly rushed story. Not the unexplained, incredibly ridiculous changing of Lauren’s characters into another toy.
  36.
  37. How did I let myself get caught up again? Was I was fucking stupid? I didn’t see Hasbro coming from a mile away?
  38.
  39. Now I'm at that same spot after Mass Effect.
  40.
  41.
  42. I’m not good at explaining things when i feel bad. which is why the above is badly written and rushed.
  43.
  44. I told what i thought to a couple of internet friends after all of it happened.
  45.
  46.
  47. They don’t want to be my friends anymore.
