  1. 1[21:29] <Nisu> As Lekha slept, she dreamed.
  2. 01[21:29] <Nisu> Below her sprawled a massive city, far larger than any she'd ever seen before. the city blazed with countless lights, as numerous as the stars - and the stars in the sky reflected them, each finding its own match in the constellations of the streets below. The moon, large and full, hung over the city, and below it, in the grand square, a god was chained.
  3. 01[21:29] <Nisu> The god, a white creature with massive wings, let out a cry that was the clashing of steel and the roar of armies as it thrashed about, trying to break its bonds. Blood seeped from its countless wounds, hissing as it splattered against the stone of the streets. Lekha tried to look away - even a god did not deserve to be tortured so - but dreams lay their own fetters, and just like the god bound below her, she too was fixed in place, unable to move.
  4. 01[21:29] <Nisu> Eventually, the god slumped to the ground, exhausted, and what Lekha had thought to be shadows began to stir. People swarmed out from where they had been hiding, collecting the god's blood, murmuring to themselves as they measured the furrows it had gouged into the streets. Not a single person seemed to notice the god itself; not even as it began to stir again did they turn to look at it. Eventually, once the crowd had gathered all it wanted in vials and flasks, it dispersed again, leaving nothing but the god, bound in the square, and Lekha, watching from the sky.
  5. 01[21:29] <Nisu> There had to be something she could do.
  6. 01[21:29] <Nisu> With all her strength, she forced herself to move within the dream, slowly drawing closer and closer to the god. If she could only figure out what it was, then she could save it, right? That was how dreams worked. And it would just be a few more meters before its hazy features resolved into something concrete, something she could reach out and help -
  7. 01[21:29] <Nisu> She was so distracted by every tiny motion she made that she didn't notice the shadows move. It wasn't until she felt the searing pain of an arrow tearing into her throat that she realized the shadows could see her, that they would suffer her presence no longer. Another arrow screamed past her, and another, until the sky was full of them. She continued dragging herself closer, flinching each time an arrow hit its mark, until she could take no more and fell, tumbling, toward the acid-scarred ground.
  8. 01[21:29] <Nisu> The stone rushed up to meet her, and then Lekha remembered nothing.
