- 4 The idea of slavery is a great deal more difficult to understand in this day and age.
- Cars are a great deal more difficult to understand in this day and age.
- 5 Rock and roll was slightly more fashionable in the past than what we see today.
- (“rock and roll” is a singular noun for a style of music)
- 6 Calls are a lot easier to make than 20 years ago.

- as...as comparisons
- Another common way to make comparisons is with “as...as”. (These are sometimes called equatives.)
- I am as tall as my dad. = We are equal height.
- I am not as tall as my dad. = I am shorter than my dad.
- My dad is not as tall as I am. = My dad is shorter than I am.
- I don’t have as much money as you. = I have less money than you.
- I don’t have as many friends as you. = I have fewer friends than you.
- I don’t speak as quickly as you.
