WARNINGS: LOTS OF DEATH/VIOLENCE, ABLEIST LANGUAGE, MENTIONS OF WRIST INJURY, DISEMBOWELMENT, REMOVING EYES, SHOOTING, POSSESSION, ETC

in a dark facility within a lavender field known as rasfa united, there were humans held captive, being experimented on. kutya krage, a 16-year-old victim of rust was held here and was a subject to edwards wirth, the head of the facility, and quincy, a stuttering but loyal scientist.

our story begins in this very facility, where kutya was discovered and rescued by desmond kaina, a wayward odd job thief. des takes kutya back to his treehome, where communication between them is difficult at first due to kutya having little experience with english. kutya threatens des -"i could get rid of crazy man, too"- confirming that des is entirely aware that kutya is as dangerous and unstable as the files in the facility said. but des takes him to a flowery ass sunny field and makes him some flower crowns and all is fine.

that night, kutya runs into an armed quincy who intends to take kutya back to the facility. quincy succeeds, but not before kutya bites him, infecting him with rust permanently. quincy manages to shoot kutya once and inject him with some sleeping drugs and drags him back to the procedure room in the facility. edwards interrogates quincy and responds to the news quite irritably, "Our data is dying. And you know what happens when data dies." so quincy performs surgery on kutya and puts a glowing device in his stomach, made to repair cells, giving him fast regeneration properties. as a side effect, his sensitivity to pain increased, and his hunger and metabolism increased exponentially. quincy returns kutya to his cell but makes a slip up that costs almost all of the facility team's lives. kutya escapes through the unlocked door and kills the majority of the scientists in the facility, which left only quincy and edwards alive. quincy shoots kutya in the head, incapacitating him for long enough to escape. kutya attacks edwards and ultimately fails, getting shot in the head multiple times and having his wrist broken. eventually, kutya climbs the electric fence to flee the facility.

the next evening, des finds kutya outside the facility and returns to the treehome with him to fix a splint for his wrist. kutya proceeds to eat every single food item in the house, emptying des' entire supply of food. he even eats trail mix (fyi DRUGS) and has an extremely negative reaction to it, resulting in a nasty panic attack. des manages to calm him down through hugging -"Come on kid, it's okay."- and kutya passes the hell out for the night.

the next morning, kutya wakes up to a literal giant pink centipede man crawling around his room. there's some screeching, but eventually the bug man introduces himself as ezekiel, and then proceeds to eat kutya's bed. a powerful hunger was a problem they shared, so the two decided to head out to try and find food. ezekiel follows a scent and leads kutya into the now abandoned rasfa united facility. though their search for food isn't successful, kutya is reminded of what happened to him on that operating table. he plunges his claws into his own stomach -"GET- IT- OUT"- and rips out the offending glowing device, while ezekiel stands by, slightly horrified. rust pushes kutya to recover quickly, and the two leave the facility to further their pursuit for food.

meanwhile, quincy has been captured and imprisoned by a nearby village's police force (god knows how that happened, they're pigmen). ezekiel leads kutya to the village where kutya discovers the rusting, stuttering scientist. kutya insists that quincy remove the side effects of the glowing device, as removing the device itself did not stop the side effects from taking place. quincy refuses, telling him that the effects are infused in his genes now. quincy tells him that edwards is returning intel to the company, but doesn't know where the company is. kutya grows increasingly irritated and ends up ripping out quincy's eye -"YOU TOOK SSSOMETHING OF MINE, QUINCY. SO I'LL TAKE SOMETHING OF YOURS."- and leaving him to rot in the village. he breaks down after he leaves and ezekiel attempts to help, but kutya cusses him out. ezekiel tells kutya that the best course of action would be to allow him to eat kutya -"I've been trying to grow out of this body for a while now. You would be the best thing to help me break free."-. kutya is pissed beyond belief and flees from ezekiel, returning to des' treehome.

the next day, kutya is woken up to ezekiel carving a drawing of a tree in the wood. ezekiel informs kutya of a "twilight agency" and convinces kutya to help him find food again. kutya attempts to leave ezekiel, but ezekiel persists and follows him to a home in a cave. there the two meet tesla, an engineer/electrician who is literally made out of electric essence. kutya bites tesla and takes his glasses. in turn, kutya and ezekiel are pursued by tesla's pet enderdragon coil. back at the treehome, kutya has another freakout, revealing that part of the reason he hurts people is possession from an outside force whom he calls seafoam. kutya proceeds to get violent and bites ezekiel (though it didn't do much 'cause rust don't affect non-humans) and rips off one of his antennae. ezekiel stabs kutya in the chest and leaves him -"The time has come. I must transform."- to rust over in des' treehome.

des returns to the treehome and finds kutya, whose state of rust is much, much worse than it was before. kutya informs des that he bit ezekiel and tesla, but des assures him that rust probably won't affect them. kutya gives des quincy's eye, telling him that quincy is a coward, and he deserved it. des tells kutya that he might know why kutya is so hungry all the time, and that there's an antiretriever for the gene. kutya is thrilled at the idea of getting rid of it and the two head to the abandoned facility. there, des removes the gene and takes a few more files.
des gives kutya some new clothes that aren't torn up from rust, and gives him ambrosia to start the healing process for rust.
