- Zion's rant about Ability Scores
- Strength: Muscle and physical power. Offensive physical stat.
- Main Uses: Attacking, damage, grapple, athletics
- Comments: In the past I used to think that Strength should be buffed, because dexterity was superior.
- While that was certainly the case in the earlygame, its less obvious if it stays true through the rest of the game.
- Psionics: mostly irrelevant
- Changes: None.
- Plans: Do some noncanon strifes. See how a Strength based character fares. Then decide.
- Dexterity: Hand-Eye coordination, agility, reflexes, balance. Mostly Offensive physical stat.
- Main uses: Defense, attack, sneak, ranged attacks, various skills
- Comments: OP in a setting without armor. Less so when armor exists.
- I have retracted my earlier comments about dexterity.
- Psionics: Defense against the most damaging power, Eyebeams.
- Changes: None.
- Plans: Do some noncanon strifes. See how a dex based character fares. Then decide.
- Constitution: Health, Stamina, Physical Health. Defensive physical stat.
- Main uses: Increasing hit points.
- Comments: no comment.
- Psionics: One of the more common saves
- Changes: none
- Plans: none
- Intelligence: Reasoning, learning. Offensive Mental Stat.
- Main uses: Right now? Nothing. Future? Skill points and psionics.
- Comments: Does jack shit right now. Something needs to change.
- Psionics: Main stat for a psion. Seldom used in saves.
- Changes: Skill points per level: 2+INT. Reasoning bellow.
- Plans: Do some noncanon strifes. See how a int based character fares, both a normal and a psionic. Then decide.
- Wisdom: Will power, common sense, perception, intuition, mental health. Defensive Mental Stat.
- Main uses: Defense against the mental arts. Perception.
- Comments: Does exactly what it is supposed to do.
- Psionics: Very common save.
- Changes: none
- Plans: none
- Charisma: Force of personality, persuasiveness, ability to lead, physical attractiveness. Offensive Mental Stat.
- Main uses: Intimidate, persuasion, etc.
- Comments: Charisma removes player agency. That is never a good thing. To say that "no, our characters are good friends now because I had a good roll"
- irks me. I know I'm exaggerating, but there's a bit of truth to it. It should definitely be used against NPCs, but I don't want it to be usable against
- other players, at least not in a way that forces them to role-play their character in a certain way because of the dice. and a nigh impossible skill check.
- I 100% support using charisma to inspire your allies, strike terror in your foes or trick people that you're attacking.
- But like all other skills, it should only affect the mechanical.
- Psionics: Semi common save
- Changes: More to the skills associated with it.
- Plans: none
