[12:58] <@TenMihara> 3 When last we left our group of Manehattanites, a most interesting revelation came to light. Keen and Fire Lily are actually distant relatives! Not only that, but through Keen's youngest sister, and entire family has been spawned in the wasteland, and made themselves out as the founders of Shantyshod. However, they place a huge emphasis on the importance of family, and have been nothing but a boon for the area around them.
[13:00] <@TenMihara> 3 At the invitation of the family's current head, the group stayed at the Shantyshod common house that night after delivering some important information to the family. Now, the following morning, Lily has to decide how much her family means to her, and whether or not she's willing to face them again.
07[13:01] * +Primer is sitting by a table, her battle saddle removed and sitting on said table. She was contemplating removing the Gast Gun, repairing the LMG, and attaching that instead. Well, Wraith would be the one to do that, but she'd help as much as she possibly could.
07[13:03] * @Wraith` has been spending his time in the common house. his pipbuck on to the radio, trying to listen to the music... if only there were the choices of the past... he wouldn't mind a nice classical piece.
15[13:03] * +Karina was totally getting a good night's rest, maybe doing some meditating.
07[13:04] * +Primer pokes her battle saddle. "Wraith, would you mind giving me a hoof here?"
07[13:05] * @Wraith` looks up to Primer and sees her battle-saddle, "Wutcha need again?" there was his age once more... or maybe his rotting brain...
[13:06] <@TenMihara> 3 As Wraith` listens to the radio, the familiar sound of Flank Sinatra comes on. Specifically, this is the demo track Keen found in the stallion's hotel suite and delivered to the DJ.
07[13:06] * +Primer lays the battered LMG next to her battle saddle. "I'm thinking of repairing this and selling the gast gun... you were right, it's -way- old fashioned."
07[13:07] * +Fire_Lily has only been getting more nervious the more time passes. She's dreading the inevitable meeting with her parents. She wants to see them... she misses them... but all her previous fears are coming back.
07[13:10] * +Keen perks up. Wait, what? This was Flank Sinatra, but... He didn't recognize this one. Huh. Oh, he was still rather antsy, anxious. But hey, at least that ended well.
07[13:11] * @Wraith` gets up and trots over to the battered LMG and commenting, "Least it's a nice collectors item... hmmm... not too bad... Ain't the prettiest gun I've seen, but it's still pretty decent condition. I'll see if I can't take a whack at it. Gonna need a worktable though."
04[13:11] * +Primer walks over to Karina's saddle bags and fetches the foldable worktable.
15[13:12] * +Karina continues snoring softly.
07[13:14] * @Wraith` continues to examine the LMG, noting the damaged bits and pieces his Player was way too tired to think of off the top of his head and was too lazy to look up.
07[13:15] * +Primer sets up the workbench and taps Wraith's shoulder before looking up on Lily. "Hey, you okay sis?"
07[13:17] * @Wraith` stops and sees the portable workstation set up. Nodding, he takes the LMG and sets it on the worktable and attempts his best to repair the damaged weapon.
07[13:17] * +Fire_Lily has a book out, but isn't really reading. She's just thinking. She looks to Primer, and it's probably obvious that she's not really okay, but she answers, "Yeah, fine... just thinking."
07[13:18] * +Primer walks up to Lily and sits down beside the filly. "Is it about your mom and dad?"
07[13:22] * +Fire_Lily hesitates a moment, but nods. "I don't know what they'll say..."
07[13:24] * +Keen was cleaning the lenses in his rifle. Not anymore. "... They'll forgive you.. Don't worry, they will."
07[13:24] * +Primer sighs and hugs Lily with one hoof, thinking. "Well... I know I'd probably be overjoyed." She nuzzles Lily's ears and gives the filly a smile. "It'll be fine."
07[13:28] * @Wraith` does a fairly decent job in stripping out, cleaning, and re-aligning most of the parts he could tune up with his raw skill alone. Not wanting to risk damaging the tool of death by losing a vital part, he decides that he's fixed what he could and reassembles it. Not bad at all. Turning his gaze to Primer, as he has now pulled out a cigarette and began smoking it, "Alright
07[13:28] * @Wraith` Mayhem Mare, yer it's as good as I can get it."
07[13:28] * +Fire_Lily mutters a quiet, "Yeah...", but she's still nervous. Her parents were always kinda strict, and deep in her heart she feels like she's going to be in trouble not only for the fire, but also for running away.
07[13:31] * +Primer gives Fire_Lily another hugs before getting on her hooves and walking over to Wraith. "Hmm... You know, Let's take the gast gun off, and then I'll go and trade it in for some spare parts and fivefiftysix..."
[13:32] <@TenMihara> 3 The group's activities in the common house are interrupted by a knock on the door. Rachet is standing there, looking fairly chipper.
07[13:32] * +Primer looks up at Ratchet. "Hi."
07[13:33] * @Wraith` nods to Primer. Well at least now he had something to do. The ghoul sets to work at unhooking the Gast gun from the battle-saddle.
07[13:33] * +Keen puts down the laser rifle, looking at Lily briefly.  "I'll have a talk with you later." He gets up and goes towards the door, and cracks it open. "Hello."
[13:33] <@TenMihara> 3 Rachet waves enthusiastically and steps inside; "Hello again. I'm actually here to ask another small favour, since you happen to be heading in the intended direction."
[13:34] <@TenMihara> 3 Twerp stands on the ceiling and observes

Nodding to Ratchet, he just continues to blow wisps of smoke and unhook

07[13:39] * +Fire_Lily just continues failing to be able to concentrate enough to read anything, instead thinking about how much she both dreads going home and wants it with all her heart.
[13:40] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet looks to Keen and Lily in particular, then pulls out a bag full of caps tied together in rolls. "This is the latest dividend for Glimmer, so if you could see that she gets it, I would be most appreciative."

[13:49] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Wraith takes his time and manages to swap out the weapons on Primer's saddle without too much difficulty.

07[13:50] * @Wraith` nods and has finished smoking his cigarette by that point. Patting the cybermare on the shoulder he asks, "Done. How's it feel?" then stands nearby to observe his work.
07[13:51] * +Primer wiggles and stretches a bit to check her mobility. "Well, the GmG is heavier so I'm a little off center, but I can compensate."
15[13:53] * +Karina scrunches up her nose and coughs softly as she rolls over and looks towards the group. Smoke... already.
07[13:53] * @Wraith` tilts his head and squints in thought looking at the GMG then to the LMG... yes that would be true. The way he's looking at Primer as she stretches and shifts her weight to get used to the new payload she was carrying /could/ be misinterpeted, as he muses out, "Ya could put the majority of your ammo maybe on the lighter side... that'd counterbalance the weight."
07[13:55] * +Primer nods. "Yeah, that makes sense." She was so occupied that she didn't catch Wraith's supposed look. "So, think there's a prefabricated system for changing ammunition types nid fight?" She glances at Ratchet as she says this.
[13:56] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet looks up to Primer and shakes his head; "Not as such, but constructing such a feature for a battle saddle is entirely possible. There's just no standard design due to the varrying nature of the weapons held by saddles."
[13:56] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet passes the bag of caps to Keen for safe keeping

07[13:59] * +Keen takes the caps and then tosses it to Lily. "We'll bring those to her shortly, sir."
07[13:59] * +Primer nods. "Right..."
15[14:00] * +Karina sighs softly, not really wanting to leave the surface she'd slept on. "Okay, are we heading out today?"
[14:01] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet smiles; "Much obliged." He looks around the group; "Is there anything else you will be needing before you head out to Scorchwood?"
04[14:02] * +Primer looks between Lily, Kar and Keen. "I'm personally not in a hurry." She looks at Ratchet. "Well, I was going to do some shopping."
04[14:02] * @Wraith` looks over at Karina and says, "Morning sleeping beauty." in a joking tone, before adding, "Uhh I think so." looking at Rachet he asks, "Wouldn't happen to have a samophlange would ya?"
07[14:03] * +Fire_Lily is surprised as the bag of caps lands next to her. She wasn't paying attention to Keen or Rachet, so she's not sure why it was given to her. She looks kinda confused.
[14:04] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet nods; "By all means. As friends of the family, you are entitled to a discount."
07[14:04] * +Keen had gotten up and fallen asleep in hour intervals. He had real trouble sleeping. "I was thinking about going to the... Van Hoofs, was it?"
15[14:05] * +Karina "If we're going shopping, I need ammo..."
[14:07] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet nods; "Ah yes, Miss Van Hoof. She deals in magical energy weapons. A smaller business than ours for lack of a production facility, but she gets by."
07[14:08] * +Keen rubs his chin scruff. "Anything you can tell me about her?"
07[14:10] * +Primer gives Fire_Lily a hug and takes a quick walk to the Gun Runner barter-bot. "Hi again, wanted to do some haggling."
[14:10] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Rachet nods; "She keeps to herself mostly on the east end of town, although any big mechant caravans that come through we send her way in case they have things she needs that we wouldn't. We don't really have any problems with her, even as a business competitor, primarily because of the difference in scale of our operations."
[14:11] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot is once again operational; "Welcome madam. How may I be of assistance?"
07[14:12] * +Primer lays the Gast Gun on the ledge. "Well, first of all I wanted to sell this, didn't get too much runtime on it. Less than a dozen rounds. Do you stock repair kits for LMG's?"
07[14:12] * +Keen brushes himself off and opens the package to a Chimicherrychanga. Mmm, breakfast. "Alright, thanks." After finishing with his pre-war snack, he wanders off, trying to find the Van Hoofs.
[14:13] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot nods; "This unit does not carry repair kits, but you could buy another gun of the same type and use the parts."
07[14:13] * @Wraith` has nothing better to do, so he decides to hang about the common house. Trotting over to Fire_Lily, he stands before the filly and... feels kind of awkward as he wasn't issuing her a directive or anything. Beyond a 'professional' standpoint, he really didn't interact with the foal. Taking a shot at it, he speaks in a fairly... uncertain tone, "So uhh... Lily... these ponies
07[14:13] * @Wraith` are like... your family right?"
[14:13] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof's is fairly easy to find, with a neon light sign seeming very fitting for the type of products she dealt in.
15[14:15] * +Karina rolls off the bed and follows after Primer, all nekkid like. After, of course, grabbing a large pouch of caps to take with her. She had ammo to buy.
07[14:15] * +Fire_Lily turns to look at Wraith, and nods slightly. "Yeah... they are, I guess." She frowns. "It's weird to suddenly have a bigger family than you knew..."
07[14:16] * @Wraith` stands about and nods to the filly, replying, "Yeah I.. I bet. But... it's still kind of neat isn't it?"
07[14:16] * +Keen fetched some overcharged microsparkle cells from his bathrobe pocket with intent to sell as he trotted on in. Well, ever since he figured out how to reduce the spell matrix bloating effect, this thing had been sitting in his pocket. Time to make it useful.
07[14:17] * +Primer nods. "Right, do you have any run down LMG's laying about that I can raid for parts? And I'd like some ammo for same."
[14:18] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The interior of Van Hoof's shop is mainly covered with shelves holding pictures of magical energy weapons. Any actual merchandise is kept behind a cage with Miss Van Hoof herself, who is currently sitting somewhat lazily and filing a hoof. She's a neon green unicorn mare with a bright pink mane.
[14:18] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot shakes its head; "This unit only deals in newly constructed arms produced in this facility."
07[14:19] * +Primer frowns. Shoot. "Well, how much 5.56 ammunition do you have? And what types?"
[14:20] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot almost seems to frown alongside Primer; "5.56 mm ammunition is available in good quantities, standard, hollow point and armour piercing."
07[14:22] * +Fire_Lily isn't sure how she feels about having a bigger family. She still has problems she has to solve with a smaller family! She settles for, "I dunno... Maybe."

07[14:24] * @Wraith` tilts his head to the filly. Wasn't having a family a happy thing? Well... he wouldn't be too sure himself how he'd react if he had a family somewhere. Sitting down near Fire_Lily, he asks as compassionately as he can, which... sounds really weird from the normally rough brusier, "Ya don't sound too happy 'bout it though."
[14:25] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot nods and pulls out a couple of paper bags, filling them with the requested ammunition. It makes the bags and slips them through the slot; Five hundred caps total please."
[14:25] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot whirrs, then corrects itself; "Four-hundred fifty caps please; preferred rate discount acknolwdged."
07[14:25] * +Keen meanders towards the counter, taking a look at the pictures on the wall. After reaching Van Hoof, he punctuated his arrival with a sharp clearing of the throat. "So. Um. Have trouble with thieves recently or something?"
07[14:26] * +Fire_Lily frowns. "I'm worried... about what happens when I go home."
07[14:26] * +Primer nods. "Okay, thank you." She blinks and taps the Gast Gun. "Do you take trade ins on less used merchandice?"
[14:26] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Miss Van Hoof looks up; "Oh hey a customer. No, I don't really have trouble with thieves, but what kind of dumb schmuck would sell weapons and not have at least a marginal layer of protection."
07[14:26] * @Wraith` furrows his brow and asks, "Why's that?"
[14:27] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot nods; "This unit can offer eighteen hundred caps for the slightly used Gast Gun."
07[14:28] * +Fire_Lily rests her head on her hooves. "Because... I've been gone for a long time. And I left after I did something really bad... So I don't know what they'll say."
07[14:29] * +Primer smiles. "Ah, thank you. Incidentally, do you construct 40mm shells? I'm looking for buckshot and speciality shells."

Reaching out to the young foal with a rotted hoof, he stops and looks at it and stares... what was he doing? She wouldn't let a shriveled... monster... touch her... Pulling his hoof back, he asks, "Ya think they'd stay mad at you?"
07[14:33] * +Primer pushes the Gast gun through and picks up the two bags of bullets, then waits for the robot to give her the caps left.

15[14:34] * +Karina drops the pouch at her forehooves and yawns as she sits and waits for her turn.

[14:37] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof chuckles; "The Ironshod folks may be trusting and big on family, but I've always had to look out for myself, so I'm al ittle more cynnical. ANyways, what can I do for ya?"
15[14:38] * +Karina walks up and does her thing, buying roughly 250 rounds of various caliber and variety! Woo! And suddenly she realizes that she really should've brought her gear. Carrying all these bags in her mouth was difficult.

He didn't know why... maybe because she was willing to face such horrible dangers at young age... mainly to protect those she cared and loved, but the jaded old ghoul couldn't help but feel... sympathy... and a longing to keep the foal safe. "Fire_Lily..." he begins at first but stops... fuck he was horrible

07[14:41] * +Fire_Lily looks at Wraith, with a questioning gaze

[14:42] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof raises an eyebrow at the cells; "Ooh, those are snazzy. Make 'em yourself? As well, anything specific?"
07[14:42] * +Primer blinky blinks. Oh dont tell her... "It wouldn't work anyway." She walks off to the general store.
07[14:43] * @Wraith` looks at that face... she was such a cute little filly. Hnnng.. feelings... Gaining a weak smile he says, "I.. I'm sure your other family is missing you. I know that... I would if.. uhh.... if...." he couldn't bring himself to finish the sentence.
[14:43] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The robot hangs its head, looking sad
15[14:43] * +Karina gets an idea and tries to balance the bags of bullets on her back... then follows after Primer. She sure as heck wasn't going off anywhere by herself right now.
07[14:45] * +Fire_Lily mutters quietly, "I miss them too..."
07[14:46] * +Keen slowly blinks. "Yes, I did. And no, I'm just wondering what you might have." He made sure not to mention he didn't know what was out there.

04[14:48] * +Primer makes her way to the general store, Karina in tow. "You know, you can just shove those in my saddlebags for now if you want, less heavy and you can talk." She sighs. "That was kinda weird... and sweet at the same time."
[14:48] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof smiles; "Well, are you in the market for something cheap and effective, or do you want something with real stopping power?"
07[14:49] * @Wraith` looks at the filly for a moment longer and... really can't take this moment. The emotions of... protection and want were too overwhelming for him to deal with now. All he manages to say before getting up is, "I'm there for ya Lily. If ya need me." the ghoul then makes his way out of the common house and begins to trot... to nowhere... just away from the building.
[14:49] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Lily is not alone with Twerp, who watches from the ceiling.

15[14:49] * +Karina does that, then, because she didn't want to risk losing any while trotting. "Thanks. And yeah, but you're taken. Or... are you?" She raises an eyebrow at Primer.

07[14:51] * +Primer makes an awkward face. "Weeell... It's kind of a gray zone at the moment... and not one I'm comfortable with."
[14:51] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof nods and lights up horn, floating over a couple weapons; "I have her a magic plasma rifle. Very effective, if a little costly on the ammo. This other one needs a bit of fixing up, but there's nothing else can compare to it for power. It's called a Gestalt Rifle."
15[14:54] * +Karina "Not comfortable with the grey zone or the answer to the question not being known?"
07[14:55] * +Fire_Lily continues resting her head on her hooves, trying her best to work up the courage she's going to need to be able to see her parents.
07[14:56] * +Primer sighs. "Both... kind of... It's that Keen has those moments when he's really sweet and kind, all I want end need... but he's also loonier than a radroach on mintels."
07[14:56] * @Wraith` wanders aimlessly with a sad look of slight despair. That... thought of having a foal of his own was... very painful to think of. Painful to think of his... estranged wife... rejecting him. What could have been. By now of course... it would have been dead if he actually had one. What was he so sad about? She wasn't even pregnant. Standing to the side of the road he was at,

15[15:03] * +Karina closely follows Primer into the store. "Dumb thing?"
04[15:03] * +Primer looks back at Karina as she nears the counter. "Yeah, I began it."
15[15:04] * +Karina gives a short, soft laugh. "Well he made you happy, right? Or was it just the aftermath of the fight?"
07[15:04] * @Wraith` can't seem to do it... his mind still lingers on that thought... what could have been... Damn that war... damn it... Where was a bigot to focus his despair on? Hanging his head for a moment, he lifts it up solemnly and decides to see his other companions... where did they all go? Wait, he remembered Ratchet speaking of Van Hoof... where was this place?
07[15:06] * +Primer nods. "Yes.. and yes, it is..." She looks to the clerk. "This is a long shot, but you don't happen to have a beat up old Light Machine Gun that you don't use, or can't get sold?"
07[15:07] * +Fire_Lily glances over at her book. Maybe she should try a bit harder to read it... to keep her mind off things, a little. Yeah. She does that.

[15:38] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Van Hoof nods and turns ge Gestalt rifle over. It was really powerful looking, but she wasn't kidding when she said it needed a fixing. The coil around the barrel was warped, the stock had a crack in it and the charging primer wasn't alligned properly. (40%)
[15:40] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Wraith finds Van Hoof's fairly easily on account of the neon sign
[15:40] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 The clerk shakes his head; "You'd have better luck trying Ironshod for something like that." He says to Primer
07[15:40] * +Fire_Lily frowns. "Yeah... but I'm still worried..."
07[15:41] * +Primer sighs. "Been there, no luck. Any repair kits in stock?"

As with their trip to Shantyshod, they notice that activity in the normally dangerous areas of the city is down by a fair margin. Scorchwood itself lies just past the northern edge of the city proper.
[16:59] <@TenMihara|GM> 3 Scorchwood's name seems startlingly appropriate as the group reaches it. Everything here seemed to be burnt. Granted, that was caused by hundred and sixty year old balefire, but the warped wood and metal that made up the settlement still carried those scars.

07[17:28] * +Fire_Lily is shaking slightly. She's even starting to tear up. She steps forward slowly, very very slowly. It takes a while, but eventually she finally manages to call out. "Mom...? Dad...?" Her voice is still kinda quiet, but to her, it sounds so very, very loud.

"Goddesses, it's really you!"

Even if they had fought hoof and tail to keep her safe. Looking at Keen, he wondered if they would give those caps /and/ more importantly if he'd reveal the fact he was related to them.

The others are comped a night's stay at the local inn courtesy of the family. On the morrow, they finally depart for Littlehorn, where Keen will have the chance to finally bury his demons, or be buried by them.
