  1. Going full science munchkin to become a god is wrong.
  2.
  3. It doesn't follow the themes of the series that this is a story about, and is therefore doomed to fail in spirit.
  4.
  5. It ignores the well being of everyone in the story in favor of a selfish pursuit of power. Call it "for the universe" if you want, that basically is what it boils down to- "I want to be a god to [s]kill all the lampreys[/s] fight the Incubators"
  6.
  7. It shows a blatant disregard for the wellbeing of everyone in the story to focus on that and makes a mockery of Sabrina's characterization. Characterization I'm quite, quite attached to, having helped shape it early on.
  8.
  9. @Sith10 wondered at length why I keep getting votes. And I've seen questions/complaints about that once or twice lately. That's an interesting question because it seems to miss why I vote the way I do, why I vote for other plans I agree with, and why people agree with me, and assumes it just seems to spontaneously happen.
  10.
  11. Quite simply put, it's because I've made a habit of doing what seems reasonable. Mostly thanks to being around since the start and a specific characterization and approach in mind. In short, if you want to influence the quest, consider what you want for Sabrina and if it actually makes sense with the character, the setting, and her achievable goals. That means not indulging a scienceboner for its own sake or that of some grand, powergaming plan, then ignoring all the red flags.
  12.
  13. Idealism? Yes. Wanting to save people? Yes. Wanting to munchkin our way to godhood and take over the universe/brainwash the Incubators into being our slaves for love and justice? Nope nope nope nope abort abort abort.
  14.
  15. That means considering what PMMM means as a series where power levels play second fiddle to character interactions, where PMAS's good science ideas have been by the likes of Muramasa (and yes I realize the jokes this lends itself to) and people who've thought it out rather than planning to somehow skip right to godhood, and to consider whether or not Firn is really going to indulge a plan in the way you expect.
  16.
  17. Firn is a more than competent GM and he knows SV's love of powertripping. He knows exactly what he was doing by handing us a high level of potential, and as he isn't Rihaku an effectively instant stomp of our problems once we reach the end of a tech tree is decidedly not in the cards.
  18.
  19. But in short, I've had influence on the quest because I have generally had coherent, sensible ideas that follow the same characterization for the past 2791 pages- or have voted for ideas that fit that, and that results in people generally agreeing with that over ideas that seem less grounded in that.
