  1. So by the generosity of of my good bro, I have been loaned a PS3 and a copy of Demon's Souls. Also some other games, but those aren't important.
  2. So I spent about an hour and a half reacquainting myself with the game. Unfortunately the controller I was using decided it was time to press lots of buttons and ate all the healing grass I got in the tutorial. This turned out not to matter after I'd switched controllers because something like 50 of the things dropped in world 1-1.
  3. Anyway I was cruising through 1-1, chopping up dudes with my halberd when I came across that most legendary of foes. The 1-1 Red Eye Knight. I said to myself "My boy, you are no longer the frightened and inexperienced player of days past, you can take him."
  4. I engaged and found him to be an enemy most dangerous; I was sure our duel would be an epic struggle. Then he broke my guard and stabbed me to death with one combo.
  5. Giving him and the 570ish souls I'd had up as a bad job I proceeded onwards. A little further into the level I found out something I'd never known possible. Just after the introduction to exploding barrels trap the path splits three ways. Ahead was the way onwards, to the right a merchant and to the left a balcony overlooking a narrow courtyard. Naturally I jogged over to the balcony to have a look and suffered and immediate heart attack when my character, instead of merely impacting the low balcony wall and stopping, climbed over the wall and into empty air. My heart lept into my throat as my heavily armoured character pluged downwards, only to land a second later losing only a small amount of health.
  6. Relived I proceeded to chop my way onwards and came upon the narrow bridge, covered with enemies. Knowing the trap of watching dragons I was cautious and attempted to goad the dragon into blasting the bridge with flames that I might cross unassailed. But it was not to be and the dragon was content to fly over, roar at me and then leave. It was only after I had been chased by every enemy on the bridge and sprinted to the other side that the dragon figured I was ready for a toasting, by which time I was safely ensconced on the other side, out of it's literal line of fire.
  7. No great difficulties followed and I reach the monster at the end of 1-1: The Lead Demon, Phalanx.
  8. I immediately opened by bag and dumped all my firebombs on the ooze blob and followed up with a turpentine coated halbard. After only one near death surrounding from overconfidence I slew the Demon and made off with his soul.
  9. It was a fine beginning to Demon's Souls.
