  1. Original thread written by my friend outlining the Game:
  2.
  3. PokeRisk
  4.
  5. Phase 0 - Getting Started
  6.
  7. *1) Players request to become Gym Leaders until there are at least 4 Gym Leaders (PM/IM a Gym Team to MM for evaluation, you'll find out the results in two days)
  8. 2) 4 Gym Leaders have official playable Gym Teams
  9. 3) PokeRisk Starts!
  10.
  11. Phase 1 - Initial Claim
  12.
  13. 1) Each Gym Leader claims up to 3 different Gyms
  14. 2) Type A Claims begin if necessary
  15. 3) Both Casuals and Challenges are allowed to be played now
  16.
  17. Phase 2 - After Two Weeks
  18.
  19. 1) Type A/B Claims continue until there are no more vacant Gyms
  20.
  21. Phase 3 - War
  22.
  23. 1) Casuals and Challenges are played until there is only one Gym Leader remaining who owns all 17 Gyms who wins
  24.
  25. The End! A marvelous reward awaits the winner... maybe...
  26.

  29. Spoiler: the old post (click to show/hide)
  30. This is not a Pokemon Tournament. It is beeettah!
  31.
  32. Long read but please do so if you wish to have funnn
  33.
  34. Here's an idea I somehow thought up last night in my bed probably due to the overwhelming amount of recent Pokemon content in the various threads scattered here on QFF. It's a game revolving around (GEMU) of course using Pokemon (4th gen and up) in a competitive level of play but isn't at all a tourney.
  35.
  36. So what is this crazy PokeRisk game I've thought up? Well if you know what the game Risk is perhaps you already have an idea of what the game would be like. In Risk you're a national leader trying to take over the world by battling other nations and in the end the person who takes over every country by defeating the other players wins. Well this is pretty much that, but in the form of Gyms instead. But beyond that it is completely different so I don't wanna give you the wrong impression here.
  37.
  38. Now I remember QFF once did some kind of Gym Leaders thing, I myself didn't take part in it, but as I recall nothing happened. Well now something can.
  39.
  40. There will be 17 gyms. For this to work I need a minimum of 4 gym leaders agreeing to stick to the game until they either lose or win, but what I hope to achieve is perhaps about 8 people willing to play 'cause then everyone would get at least one second chance.
  41.
  42. For now I won't go over all the game rules until I get at least 4 people (me included) willing to play but I'll go over a few things.
  43.
  44. As this would be the first game of PokeRisk, the map/region being used will be Kanto. All original gyms from the game will be in it and usable, but the game only had 8 so that means 9 others will be introduced into various parts of the map. Gym locations do indeed play an important role in the long run of the game.
  45.
  46. Players become players by becoming a Gym Leader. Anyone can become a Gym Leader so long as they agree to put the effort to play the game (which is a long term game so don't feel too much pressure). To request to become a Gym Leader of a certain Gym (which are divided into the 17 types), you would submit to me (the administrator of this game) the team you wish to use for that Gym via PM. After three days if no one else requests to become a Gym Leader for the same Gym then it is yours. However don't go doing that now if you want to be a Gym Leader, wait until this game becomes official or not.
  47.
  48. Now what happens if two people request the same type Gym? Well the reason I'm requesting you to PM your team to me is because of this. Every team is evaluated by me (and a few others I'll pick later) and given an overall team rank based on the Pokemon you choose to use on it and other various aspects that I'll go into later. Anyway every Pokemon team in this game receives a Team Score (TS). In the case of two or more people requesting the same Gym (I'm sure Fire Type will deal with this), whoever presents to me the team with the highest TS will get the Gym rights.
  49.
  50. So what is TS? TS is the rank or grade given to your Pokemon team based on the Pokemon you choose. How exactly overall TS is determined isn't yet solidified but for the most part, tiers play a crucial role in this. And by tiers I mean the "official" smogon tierlist, separating Pokemon into 5 categories, Uber, OU, BL, UU, and NU. Of course they go from strong to weak in that order, however Ubers are banned from this game so keep that in mind.
  51.
  52. OU (Over-Used) Pokemon award 1 TS each
  53. BL (Border-Line) Pokemon award 2 TS each
  54. UU (Under-Used) Pokemon award 3 TS each
  55. NU (Never-Used) Pokemon award 4 TS each
  56.
  57. This means that lower tier Pokemon give off a higher overall TS, but at the same time weaken your team. But if you make a team full of high tier Pokemon than your TS will be very low which can cause you problems that I'll explain down below.
  58.
  59. TS as I explained before determines who receives the Gym in the instance more than one people request the same Gym. The other thing it takes a role in is Gym challenging.
  60.
  61. Now this is PokeRisk after all and the goal of the game is to take over other Gyms and hopefully take over them all. That's how you'd win. To take over another Gym you of course have to beat them in a challenge. However there are a few rules for this. One, you can't challenge them with your own team representing your Gym. In fact, you have to create a new team abiding their Gym rules and beat them with that team. Secondly, your new team has to have a higher TS than their Gym team. And maybe thirdly, we'll vote if we do this or not, but if it is, every Gym would have a Gym Trainer. An underling of sort as seen in the games. The team for the Gym Trainer is more strict than the Gym Leader, but anyway, to take over a Gym you must first beat the Gym Trainer with your new team, and then the Gym Leader. Additionally, you have to have enough CP (Challenge Points) to be able to challenge him in the first place, which I'll get into later. But 1 CP is used each time you challenge someone.
  62.
  63. Since those are a lot of requirements, here's an example:
  64.
  65. You are the Grass Gym
  66.
  67. A rival of yours owns the Flying Gym with a Team of overall 22 TS
  68.
  69. You've created a Flying Team with 25 TS, and you yourself have 3 CP so you can spend 1 of them to challenge
  70.
  71. You would then propose your challenge
  72.
  73. If all the requirements are met, the rival Gym cannot refuse the challenge
  74.
  75. A date and time for the matches are set
  76.
  77. The first match is your Flying Team vs his Gym Trainer Team
  78.
  79. If you win, you would next fight the main Flying Gym Team
  80.
  81. If you win, you take over the Gym and awarded with various bonuses
  82.
  83.
  84. Now that's all if you win, if you lose there are of course consequences you have to take. And I don't feel like getting into any more of it if people aren't interested in playing but I hope we can get this together. If people are then I'll make a more official post regarding rules and stuff and hopefully we can get it going.
  85.
  86. So yes, if I can get 4 people (3 excluding me) to join in we're set. The more the merrier.
