  1. Results: 3869 yes, 9606 no What the hell are Eddie DeBartolo and Carmen Policy doing? First the insult to George (Seifert) by rehiring "assistant coach," more like assistant head coach, Bill Walsh. And now, the changing of our classy uniform colors? Boys, please! Soroya D. Green Oakland

  3. I understand that the "coming of the Apocalypse" is being made in reference to the foul poles at new Comiskey Park being sold for ad space.
  4.
  5. If this is true, the changing of the 49er colors (with gaudily unnecessary additions) is truly the Final Judgment. Challen K. Yee South Bay
  6.
  7. The Niners' desire to change their uniforms is a blatant merchandising ploy. I thought the Niners' organization had more class than to try to bilk money out of their fans like this. Besides, didn't they realize how hideous the stadium will look next year with the clash of the old colors and the new? Evelyn Warheit Oakland
  8.
  9. The lesson of the 49er helmet logo change debacle should've been not to try that kind of stuff again. Instead, the lesson Eddie D. seems to have "learned" is that it's OK to pull it again but do it in secret.
  10.
  11. It ain't broke, so the jersey colors do NOT need fooling with. This holder of 14 season tickets, for one, will not buy anything with the new color. Not until the bunch of proper, crimson stuff I have wears out, at least. Doug Tandy Lafayette
  12.
  13. To the Faithful, changing our colors to increase revenue would be like changing Old Glory to sell new flags to balance the budget. Fred C. San Bruno
  14.
  15. The 49ers are not making a "fashion" statement, they're making a "concession" statement to Jerry Jones: "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!" Robert Koch San Leandro
  16.
  17. We have a closet full of "red" clothes and cars and memorabilia. Please, please, please keep the "red" 50 faculty and staff members, George R. Moscone Elementary School San Francisco
  18.
  19. Yes! Yes! Yes! Especially the shadowing of the numbers. The shadowing, I feel, was the best feature of the team's "Throwback" uniforms of the '94 season.
  20.
  21. The effect added visual depth to the numbers, allowing them to "read" very well on television, where most of us watch the Niners anyway. Devon D. Low San Francisco
  22.
  23. Do not do wear white pants home or away. When you have white pants and white shirts for away games, it's just not a strong statement. It somehow makes a team look weak! Ron Beauchemin Daly City
  24.
  25. They should be more concerned about a pass rusher or a running back. And I would be concerned about their quarterback that looks like he has been run over by a truck after every play. Herman S. Babst
  26.
  27. This is a stupid change. Who suggested this one, J. Jones? Makes my blood boil - worse than losing a playoff game to Dallas. R. E. McCorkle Los Osos
  28.
  29. I suppose if Carmen is going to change the color of their clothes, well, let's think back to the Kezar days and transpose the image of the Haight.
  30.
  31. How about a bright, wild-colored, swirling tie-dyed jersey?
  32.
  33. Far out man, I'm hep. Gordon Smith Monterey
  34.
  35. How awful the away uniforms will look, white pants and white jerseys. How unfair to all the fans that have supported them over the years and have bought many items with the old team colors. 32 Budget Rent A Car employees
  36.
  37. Definitely and emphatically not! This is just another attempt by Eddie to impose his midwestern, unimaginative money-grubbing style on us. I've been watching the 49ers since before little Eddie was even born, and he has the gall to come here and change everything so he can make more money off clothes / accessories. Ralph Miller
  38.
  39. I prefer the look of the proposed uniform. The deeper shade of red is a better fall color than the current red. And to me the proposed uniform looks more intimidating. Donovan Smith Marin
  40.
  41. I usually consider myself a traditionalist, never wanting to change something like a team's uniform. This time, however, I will change my views and back the 49ers' new uniforms. I do so because they are in good taste and will add a refreshing new look to the team. Geoffrey Sean Barker Berkeley
  42.
  43. I am a bit confused as to the motivation and purpose behind the desire to change the uniform color. If the ownership felt that a change would somehow add a bit of excitement to what they may perceive to be a flagging 49er fan support base, I'm certain that a subtle change in color and a few new stripes won't help. If they feel that they may not be selling as many hats and T-shirts as the Cowboys, I'm doubtful this change will help, either.
  44.
  45. I don't think that any change in team-fan identity, even a small one, is a wise business decision. Remember "New Coke?" Nick Diermann Palo Alto
  46.
  47. I didn't spend a dime on pro baseball last year. I will not be a sucker and spend any money on anything just to get the new 49er colors on it. I turned my back on the Giants, and I will turn my back on the 49ers. Alex Rockas San Rafael
