  4.        Hello sir/ma'am, today I will be talking about the second amendment. If you do not know about the second amendment it the right to bear arms. I hope you enjoy this essay.
  5.
  6.       The Second Amendment is one of the most controversial amendments in today’s society. There are commonly two sides that fight with each other over the definition of this amendment. The pro-gun, or what is commonly referred to as “gun nuts”, have the firm belief that the American people have the right to not only carry a gun, but to carry any type of gun that they want, while anti-gun groups want to get rid of the right to carry a gun all together unless that person is a soldier or police officer.
  7. The Second Amendment right of Americans to “keep and bear Arms” is fundamental to a free society, which in turn ultimately depends on personal responsibility.
  8. Citizens must have the right to defend themselves, their families, and their property.
  9. Many existing and several recently proposed gun control laws do not correlate with decreased violence, but instead hamper the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their families.
  10. Incidents of mass violence, often perpetrated by severely mentally ill individuals, should not be used by policymakers as an opportunity to restrict constitutional rights.
  11. Understandable revulsion at incidents of violence committed by dangerous or unhinged individuals should not cause a rush to judgment on prescriptions that violate first principles, ignore the real root causes of complex societal problems, or disregard careful social science research.
  12.       Did you know the second amendment was also meant as a provision to repel a foreign army invasion? You never know if North Korea, Russia, or ANY COUNTRY will attack. But, owning assault rifles and other military weapons is just WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. I mean, why do you need an assault rifle? It's not like you're going to march right into the army and say "look at me I got this gun, where do I sign up". I think we should limit it to pistols, snipers, etc.
  13.     When you bear arms, this means you physically carry weapon. You may have arms in your home as well as on your person.Shall not be infringed:The Second Amendment does not grant any right to bear arms. Furthermore, the rest of the Bill of Rights does not describe any right to do so. These rights are thought of as natural rights or God-given rights. In the Bill of Rights, the Second Amendment is just a reminder to the government that they should not try to stop people from having this right.
