Day One

Everything's set, cheats enabled, and I'm not gonna mess up and start with a level 11 starter this time. I promise.

I'ma boy named Gerald. I like that name because it's so boring. Gerald. Bleaaahhh.

Options set to Fast text, and Battles are set to "set".

Mom's gotta go through all the nonsense to get me started...

I got spoiled by X/Y and the automatic running shoes. I can't run and it upsets me.

Hah. I named my rival Hug. Could be worse, in the test run I did earlier I named him HughT. That just sounds so amazingly bad.

I save the game. Up here is a special NPC that gives me the special keys for Easy Mode and Challenge Mode. You know what I'm gonna do.

I take Hug up to Bianca, who is waiting for me with the starter.

Y'know, I really like Bianca. She's the first character in the games who felt like an actual person. Helps that she is animated and detailed in the scene where she gives the starter. I quite enjoy that.

No, Bianca, I don't know someone named Gerald. Snicker.

I'm exactly like you heard? A jerk? yeah okay.

Tepig time! Itzza, welcome to the team!

Pokedex get. Hug gets to have a Pokedex too. Why not.

Hug wants to battle. Challenge accept!

Rival Battle: Hug
Itzza vs Oshawott! Pretty routine, do one Tail Whip then Tackle spam.

Ability check: Itzza has Thick Fat! Pretty nice, better than Blaze.

Tail whip, Itzza takes a tackle, etc etc.

Itzza wins with 9 HP left. Itzza grows to level 6!

Battle over.

Y'know, tutorials in Pokemon games really ought to be optional. I don't know who would pick up a Pokemon game and not know these things by now. It's still pretty intuitive and obvious.

Alright, time to save and fix up the game one last time.

I have no idea how difficult this will be. I'm going in completely blind.

Five Potions bought.

Yeeess... Running Shoes. Getting the shoes will never not feel good. I guess that's a reason to enjoy the lack of them, huh?

Town Map get. Okie.

And now with the Pokemon catching tutorial. Gaaaahhh!

Bicycle get. I'm confused on how the girl behind the counter had a bicycle waiting for me. That's just bizarre.

Bianca has a Lillipup. I want one. I hope I get a pup.

Tutorial done, catching time!

First attempt is a Wurmple... yay.

Oh god I start with 30 Pokeballs. Hehehehe.

Wurmple caught; gonna name it Elise after @[USER=12892]ForestRose[/USER] . Dunno why, just cause.

Second catch: Kricketot! Now that's better.

This thing has Bide so I'm not gonna mess around. Just throwing Pokeballs. First ball catch!

Gonna name it after @[USER=7148]Depressed_Monkey[/USER] ! Welcome Monkey to the team.

I'm gonna stick around and level them to 6 before I move on.

Apart from them both knowing Bug Bite, they're kinda lame... they both have Run Away. I hope that changes later. Though it is convenient.

Monkey wants to learn Endeavor at level 5, which is a nope. Do not get endeavor, is bad move.

Elise learns Electroweb at level 5 which is better than String Shot. Replaced String Shot with Electroweb!

Monkey and Elise eventually get to level 6, with Itzza landing at a nice 7. He learns Ember.

I really hope Elise evolves into Dustox, it's so much more useful and not 4x weak to rock.

I finally make it to the next town. Alder jumps down from a cliff at me, muttering the typical "I like Pokemon and the world" stuff. He gives me a little frisk and asks me to follow, making my 17 year old muscles tremble with uneasiness.

I look around the town, finding a Potion. I head out to Route 20, where people be waiting to kick my sorry little butt.

Battle: Youngster Terrell

Elise comes out, faced with a Patrat, level 7. I'm already evenly leveled with stuff and that scares me. Guess I'll start with an Electroweb.

Bite does only 4 HP to Elise surprisingly, and Electroweb hits and lowers speed. Bug Bite spam it is. It scores a critical hit, OHKO's, and Elise levels up. Out comes Zigazigoonu.

I guess I'll keep Elise out and keep Bug Bite spamming, can't hurt. Zigzagoon growls, which does nothing because Elise critical hits yet again and OHKO's. Elise is a champ.

Elise evolves! Cascoon. Dammit.

It wants to learn Harden, sure, why not, better than Poison Sting.

She also wants to learn Iron Defense, why not, better than Harden.

Battle over.

A lass up above is gonna challenge me, so I switch Monkey to the front.

Battle: Lass Isabel

Monkey vs Purrloin. This is just easy, Bug Bite spam!

Purrloin growls, but Bug Bite still does over 50% damage. Purrloin goes for another Growl, but Bug Bite still KO's. Monkey grows to level 7!

Pidgey is sent out, so I switch to Itzza. Tackle does 4 damage.

I go for Ember, doesn't do too terribly much... Sand Attack from Pidgey is annoying.

Repeat of last turn, Ember hits, Sand Attack is annoying. One more Ember will KO.

Ember misses. Tackle still does 4 HP. I try again, miss again. Another sand attack. Try once more, miss, Tackled.

I keep trying until Itzza is too low HP to bother anymore. I switch back to Monkey. He takes a tackle as he switches in for 6 HP.

Next turn, bug bite. Does about half of whatever was remaining, Sand Attack again because why not Pidgey, gotta be an annoying brat.

Pidgey goes for another Sand Attack next turn, and I manage to get Bug Bite through. Monkey grows to level 8!

Sunkern is sent out, should be easy to take out. I go for Bug Bite. Of course, it misses. Sunkern uses Ingrain.

Bug Bite goes through next turn and KO's.

Battle over.

I head back to heal, and return to the route. I see dark grass, so I try to avoid any wild encounters...




Battle: Youngster Petey

Spearow vs Itzza. Ember should do the trick. The Spearow uses Pursuit so I'm not gonna be switching any time soon. Ember does around 1/3rd damage.

Peck does a mediocre 4 HP. I'm starting to think Itzza is an amazing tank. Ember does another 1/3rd, and one last Ember finishes the job. Itzza levels to 8!

Lillipup is sent out. I stay in and use Ember to test the waters. Ember does about the same damage as it did before and Lillipup's tackle hurts for a good 6 damage. Itzza's now at 15 HP.

Itzza outspeeds and KO's with a critical hit Ember. Levels up again to 9! Learned Odor Sleuth.

Hoothoot is sent out, once again, I spam Ember.

Hoothoot is bit bulkier, but Foresight isn't gonna do anything to Itzza, so more Ember spam.

Critical hit Ember KO's again. My team is amazing with critical hits. I hope me saying that doesn't bite me in the ass.

Battle over.

I make it through the grass with no encounters. I find a Pokeball and a Potion on the ground in places. I head to the ranch.

Hug challenges me immediately. I dunno if I'm prepared.

Battle: Hug

Taillow, level 9 is sent out! Confirmed, not prepared! Anus is clenched!

Itzza starts out slightly hurt at 17 HP, but Itzza can tank a hit, so I use Ember. Taillow's Peck does only 6 HP of damage, but Ember connects, does about 1/4th, and burns! Success!

Heal time. I use a Potion, and Taillow uses Growl. I decide to switch in Elise to gain some exp.

Taillow's Quick Attack does 10 HP which is far more than it should have done. I realize something. The thing has Guts.

I switch in Itzza again to tank hits. I'll just stall out burn damage if I really need to.

Taillow uses Focus Energy on the switch; I need to KO before a Pokemon loses to this. I hope Ember connects and KOs.

Quick Attack does 9 HP of damage, and Ember does indeed KO. Itzza grows to level 10! Elise grows to level 8!

Oshawott is sent out, so I switch to Monkey. It uses Tail Whip on the switch. I go for Bug Bite.

Bug Bite never hits because Water Gun outspeeds and OHKO's with a critical hit. Well crap.

I switch in Elise to tank, and I use Electroweb.

Oshawott's Tackle does 6 HP, which probably means Water Gun will KO, with Elise only having 12 HP left. I heal her with a Potion. Oshawott uses Tail Whip again.

I go for another Electroweb, as it still outspeeds. Oshawott's Oran Berry is consumed, which is a bummer cause I have Bug Bite for that.

In that vein of thought, I go for Bug Bite. It doesn't do that much. Tail Whip again, doesn't bother me too much cause Tackle can never KO Cascoon, because of Shell Armor negating critical hits.

I go for Electroweb since it deals the most damage. Worst case scenario, I switch in Itzza to pick up where Elise leaves off, but I don't plan for that to happen.

Water Gun hits for 16 HP, which is really scary. I have no choice but to heal. Oshawott uses Tail Whip again for some reason.

I use Electroweb again, bringing it into nearly KO range. Water Gun hits hard, but I can outspeed and KO now. Elise does exactly that.

Battle over.

I lost a 'mon already. Not good. Not good at all.

I get a soothe bell from the ranch owner's wife. Nice.

Hug overreacts to a lost Pokemon, while I stick around and look for things to catch. I'll go store Monkey later.

First encounter is a Lilllliiipuuuuup! Nice.

Female Lillipup caught. I think I know just the name for her!

Second catch, Azurill! I hope to god it's Huge Power. SO OP.

Never mind, critical hit KO's it.

Err... I guess I'm still at 3 Pokemon. Oh well. Could be worse.

Back to the Pokecenter to bury a friend...

Rest in peace Monkey. Hardly knew ye.









Day Two

Off camera I trained up Sheila and Elise to level 9. Time to continue!

I believe I have to clear the ranch area... got my two catches there.

I swing around the first area of the ranch, find a lass to battle!

Battle: Lass Molly

Sheila vs Mareep. I should be fine staying in, I think it only has Tackle at this level.

I start off with Bite for the flinch chance. Flinch get!

Another bite, Mareep uses Charge. Oh well. It's in KO range so I end with Tackle. Mareep faints, Sheila grows to level 10!

Azurill is sent out. Should be easy enough, I go once more for the Bite spam. Azurill uses Tail Whip, might have to switch out after Azurill faints.

I use Bite again, but Azurill uses Aqua Jet to bypass any flinch chance. Only does 4 HP of damage. Tackle KO's.

Pidove is sent out. More bite spam.

Bite is actually close to 2 hit KO'ing the Pidove, Tackle should finish it. And it does.

Sheila grows to level 11!

Battle over.

There's a convenient healer here so I drop by to heal up. I find a Quick Claw, which I give to Elise. I hand the Soothe Bell to Sheila to buff up Return when I get that.

Battle: Janitor Orville

Elise vs Bidoof. Bug bite spam time.

Bug Bite hits first due to Quick Claw. Bidoof growls.

Bug Bite hits, get Tackled for 6 HP.

Bug Bite brings Bidoof down to very low red health, Bidoof growls again.

Bug Bite finishes off the Bidoof, Pidove is sent out. I switch to Itzza. He gets growled on the switch, which is irrelevant.

I use Ember, which doesn't do much. About 1/4th damage. Pidove Growls again, which is all good for me.

I keep using Ember and Pidove continues growling, letting me KO without taking any damage whatsoever. Good good.

Itzza grows to level 11! Slakoth is sent out.

I switch Elise in to tank. Scratch from Slakoth does 6 HP.

Bug bite does 1/3rd of the opponent's health, Slakoth's Truant activates.

More bug bite. Another Scratch.

One more Big Bite finishes the Slakoth. Elise grows to level 10!

Battle over.

Elise is evolving!

Cascoon does evolve into Dustox! Good good good.

Elise learns Confusion over Tackle!

I head back to heal real quick, pressing forward. I switch the Quick Claw to Itzza.

Gerald gives me an EXP share. Why not.

Found a Youngster. Face smash time.

Battle: Youngster Kenny

Elise vs Psyduck. Time to test out new Bug Bite ultimate power.

It 2HKO's. Water Gun does 4 HP of damage.

Poochyena is sent out. Hah.

Battle over.

Oval Stone found. Neat. Maybe I'll get a Happiny and actually use one for once.

Elise grows to level 11 fighting a wild Hoothoot.

Found a team Plasma grunt. He smacks me in the face with a CD and runs. Rude.

Frustration is a terrible move.

Alright, done with the ranch. Alder's gonna make me do a thing I believe.

Yup. I heal up and then do his little errand. Found an X Speed.

Wants me to battle children. Of course.

Battle: School Kid Seymour

Itzza vs Pansage. Ember time.

Ember gets a critical hit and KO's. Snivy is sent out. More Embers! Everyone can have an Ember!

Itzza's Ember doesn't even do 50% damage. Vine Whip does only 3 HP though so it's fine.

Ember pulls through and Snivy is defeated.

Battle over.

I get healed and thrown into the next battle.

Battle: School Kid Cassie

Itzza vs Panpour. Switch into Sheila. Panpour uses Leer on the switch.

I go for Tackle. Water Gun does 7 HP while Tackle does about 40%.

I Tackle again, and another Water Gun hits. One more Tackle and Panpour is KO'ed.

Itzza grows to level 13! Wants to learn Defense Curl, nope.

Oshawott is sent out. I switch into Elise. Elise gets Tackled on the switch for 4 HP. Elise is really overpowered this early on, jeez.

Electroweb does more than 50%. Oshawott uses Tail Whip. One more web and the Oshawott is down.

Battle over.

I get a Medal Box, which I'll hopefully never use, and Alder tells me of the gym. Gym time. Yeeeeaaaa.

I head back to Aspertia, Alder stopping me along the way to give me Oran Berries. Alright.

Elise isn't holding anything so I guess she gets an Oran Berry.

I run into a Sewaddle on the way to the ranch to train, so I catch it. Welcome Wulfe to the team. (@[USER=14903]Woolsey[/USER] )

I train Sheila and Elise up to level 12, and head into the gym. Sheila learns Helping Hand, better than Odor Sleuth. I train Wulfe to level 11.

5 more Potions bought, bringing the total to 10. Should be plenty.

As I enter the Training School I spot Roxanne... not now, hopefully I can actually stand a chance after catching something in the next route. I stand no chance right now.

I enter the gym, getting a Fresh Water, finding some trainers to defeat.

Battle: Youngster Pedro

Wulfe vs Rattata. Equal levels. Bug Bite spam time.

Or rather, no Bug Bite spam cause it just missed with a Flame Wheel. Already almost lost a Pokemon...

I switch to Sheila. Wulfe would definitely be dead, even Sheila took 11 HP from that Flame Wheel. Bite outspeeds and KO's.

Whismur is sent out. More bites. Whismur's Rattled ability activates and ups its speed. Uproar does a ton of damage, so I switch into Elise. Elise tanks Uproar much better, taking 10 HP from it. Still 1/4th of its health though...

I go for the Bug Bite, which still outspeeds and KO's. Wulfe grows to level 12!

Snubbull sent out. I go for more Bug Bites. Snubbull also has Rattled, and Tail Whips. I go for another Bug Bite. Critical hit KO's the Snubbull.

Battle over.

I go to heal and battle the next trainer.

Battle: Lass Serena

Pidove sent out, vs Wulfe. Nope. Switch to Sheila. Gust does 7 HP to her.

I go for Bite spam. No flinch, and Sheila gets a Leer. More bite. Score a flinch this time, and KO with one last Bite.

Igglybuff sent out. More bites! Everyone gets a bite!

Don't get a flinch, and the Igglybuff uses Defense Curl. I go for more Bites. One flinch.

I go for a Tackle and KO the Igglybuff. Cleffa is sent out.

I use Bite, and Cleffa uses Sing. Sheila's Vital Spirit causes it to fail.

Bite again, get a flinch. One more Bite and Cleffa is KO'ed. Wulfe holds the EXP share, and grows to level 13!

Battle over.

I go to heal, and then it's time to battle Cheren.




I put Itzza in front before the battle begins. I don't know if I'm prepared.

Gym Battle: Cheren

Itzza vs Minccino.

CHEREN HAS 6 POKEMON AND HIS FIRST IS LEVEL 12! I AM NOT PREPARED!

Alright. I gotta get through this. I switch in Elise to test the water. Minccino uses Sing immediately and lands on Elise.

I have nothing to cure it so I have to tough it out. Elise is faster, but the Minccino used Work Up. I hope I wake up very soon to use Iron Defense...

I didn't wake up. Another Work Up.

Still asleep. Another Work Up.

I have to wake up now and Iron Defense or I lose.

Yes! Wake up, Iron Defense up. Minccino works up again, but I can outspeed and use Iron Defense once more before another Sing happens.

Minccino uses Work Up once more. I start using Bug Bite. I steal the Chople Berry, and Bug Bite does about a third of its HP... I have to tank two hits before I can KO. Minccino uses Work Up again and is now at 4x attack and special attack.

I use Bug Bite again and the Minccino Sings. Not good.

I am sleeping, Minccino uses Swift. Elise falls to 4 HP and eats an Oran Berry which does absolutely nothing.

I have to wake up and hit or I lose.

I don't. Elise faints.

I switch in Wulfe. She dodges a Sing, hits with Bug Bite, and KO's. Pidove is sent out. I switch in Sheila to take a hit. Air Cutter does 12 HP, bringing Sheila down to 22.

Sheila bites, Pidove uses Work Up.

Sheila Bites, critical hits, and the Pidove eats her Berry Juice. This brings her back to the green. The thing has Morning Sun and heals to full.

I bite, do a third HP of damage, and dodge an Air Cutter. I decide to use Leer next turn.

It succeeds, and the Pidove uses Morning Sun.

I get a Bite flinch, Pidove at just barely over half HP, and I go for a Tackle. It KO's. Buneary is sent out. I switch in Wulfe.

Buneary uses Work Up on the switch. I go for Bug Bite.

Buneary outspeeds and uses Double Hit, which does 18 HP total, leaving Wulfe at 19. I have to trust her to take one more hit.

Double hit strikes, letting Wulfe eat the Oran Berry between hits and letting her live. Bug Bite KO's, and Wulfe grows to level 14.

Munchlax is sent out. I switch in Itzza, could have flamethrower or something silly.

Nope, it has Rock Tomb. Itzza is hit hard for over half health. I have no choice but to switch to Sheila.

Rock Tomb hits for 13 health, so I use the opportunity to heal her.

Munchlax switches to Covet, and hopefully it doesn't keep spamming it because it outdamages my Potion by 1 HP.

Critical hit, Sheila faints.

I send out Wulfe.

I heal Wulfe, and Rock Tomb misses. I can use Bug Bite.

It does so little damage... and the damn thing uses Metronome to use Iron Tail. It also has Leftovers.

I Bug Bite, and he uses Rock Tomb. Wulfe faints. I send in Itzza.

Ember does so little, I can barely see the life bar move. Rock tomb KO's.

Itzza faints.

Battle over.

And so ends run 1.
