- This is what I call the Monochrome Route. It's a new route utilizing Monochrome's Item Boost ability for all fights after Xigbar to save Ethers and put Elixirs to use in other fights. These notes aren't for people that don't know the general layout of the game. I highly suggest you download the Wordpad version that should have colors to make it less confusing. This page can be changed at any time with updates.

- Note: If you're bad at Peter Pan strat, just do this strat instead:
- Stand still > Magnet x2 (make sure all 4 are caught in it)
- Comet (RC until they all die) > grab presents (if you fail to grab all presents before Graveyards, end Comet)

- Note: If you fail to skip the lasers, use your last Ether to Reflect lasers to damage him
- If you're having trouble getting this strat, you may want to practice alternate backup strats

- Notes:
- - With current route and strats we no longer have extra Ethers, so try not to waste any if you can.
- - If you are really worried about being short an Ether in this route, you can easily take off Potions off all characters to ensure you get an extra Ether by selling Potions right before you buy Ethers in TWTNW Moogle Shop. You can also grab extra Ethers from the following places in Chests: Outside YenSid's Tower, in Pirates 1 after gaining control after 1st fight with Chicken Little, and on Mountain Path going down at LoD2.
- - For exp in this route, you'll always be short a bit, but if you do well on the Carpet Escape mini-game (by killing both Fat Bandits), you will likely hit LV31 before Xaldin. If you aren't confident in your Carpet skills, I'd suggest grabbing any of the Bulky Vendors you may run into, they are hardly a waste of time.
- - In LoD Mountain Path, I believe the trick to not spawning the Assault Rider in the last Boulders fast is to lure the Nightwalkers properly that you jumped over with Valor so that it won't load the Rider too fast.
- - In Summit fight, you may want to jump to make enemies render in the fight for you to kill. You want to kill 60+, but you can get away with 50+ pretty safely.
- - For Hydra, if you get the head pattern after 2nd Trinity that has the head that stays in the middle, you may want to not do the 3rd Trinity too fast, or it'll probably mostly miss. This seems to be because this head pattern does not let you combo it that long.
- - If you fail 1 cycle Thresholder, use this as a backup: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y7FvWOTr-KY it will require you to pick up an extra Drive Recovery (I suggest Timeless River one) though. You still will lose around 30-35 seconds from 1 cycle regardless, though.
- - After much testing, using Ethers in the Medallion fight has little to no effect on the outcome. The fight is just currently too inconsistent.
- - Warning: Prison Keeper has a soft lock. We believe it has to do with using its RC too much (mainly the first one that shows up we think?). This happening will kill a run completely. Current strats do not use the RC at all fortunately.
- - With Chicken Little, his magnet move can be sort of manipulated to happen. If he doesn't do it right away with 2+ enemies around, do a combo on them with a finisher to knock them away, and 9/10 times he'll magnet them back in (Corridor/Berserkers/Dancers fights are a great example of this).
- - The Tron box mini-game has a trick where you can walk a few boxes to the right from where the red one spawns (before it moves!) and just go into Valor in place when they stop moving, and it should be the red box. However, I've had this fail on me, so do at own risk. Regular method is hardly slower.
- - Light Cycle is full of RNG, but just try to avoid hitting walls and you'll be fine. Only real troll thing that can happen is enemies spawning as soon as you kill an enemy and they attack you.
- - On Demyx, there are a bunch of tricks with Trinity. Safe strat is to start Trinity at around 15-20 clones. To maximize damage output though, you can start Trinity at 25-29 and hit Major Drive on a bunch of them and then Ultima directly in front of Demyx facing away and not even use Break if there are 5 clones or less. You'll want to mess with it to get the hang of how to handle the clones.
- - During the Final Fantasy fights, try to get Rising Sun as much as you can. The big orb guys get wrecked by it. To get it easier, hit the Rising Sun enemies once to trigger the RC from them.
- - 1000 Heartless fight is pretty full of RNG. Try to stay in middle of arena. Enemies in front of you may not be rendered in the fight itself at the moment, so they can disappear on you if you approach. Not much you can do if you see a Snag enemy that isn't actually there.
- - You can potentially be very behind on exp from the 1000 Heartless fight if you get really unlucky.
- - When fighting Grim Reapers, hitting them with full Comet is key. It's tough to get 100% of the time, but practicing it well is important to do the fights fast. Using Blizzard on them and doing an untargeted Comet away from it, then re-target + end Comet on them works really well usually!
- - Present Collection is an easy time to get back the exp you lost losing in the first HT1 fight. Use Comet as the strat and end it when the Graveyards spawn as they're coming at you.
- - For Agrabah Carpet elemental switch segment, target the switches before using magic or you may hit enemies instead. There is a despawn trick to make the enemies not follow you to the switches, but it's a bit tricky to explain.
- - Jafar is an easy fight, but tricky to pull off if you don't understand it. Basically, if you're LV31, you'll have to likely do less damage on 2nd cycle combos. If his HP is lower than about 1.9 bars before doing final cycle, he'll do his Desperation Move regardless. At LV30, it's barely possible to hit that though, so don't hold back with the combos. You want to Slide Dash every single combo definitely at LV30, at LV31 you may want to hold back.
- - If you're at LV31 for Xaldin, use the strat of: Gather 9 Jumps, use 3 > gather more > use rest + combo kill. If you're LV30 still, you can't win that way. You'll have to gather 9 jumps > use enough to get him to almost under 3 bars of HP > then wait for him to counter for more jumps > use all 9 Jumps you get immediately.
- - On Palace fight, if Major Drive of Trinity kills any of the Bolt Towers, you may lose out on their Munny. I believe you get around 150 Munny from this fight if you do it perfectly. The trick is to stall the beginning of Trinity enough so that it shouldn't happen.
- - For Storm Rider, there are HP Barriers on Storm Rider that you don't want to hit too early. When on him in Valor for 1st time, only do two quick Valor ground combos with the [] finisher. Maybe a couple extra regular hits will be fine. If you get thrown off too early, you did too much damage.
- - You need 16 Ethers for TWTNW segment. You get 2 from Riku (18 total). So if you come to TWTNW with 3 Ethers like this route does, you have to buy a minimum of 13. That's probably worst case scenario too.
- - If you really screw up Ethers and are short, Luxord is a fight you can save them on by just pummeling him a bunch instead of using 1-3 Ethers. You will lose time doing this, but not as much as alternatives. You may also save an Ether on Final Xemnas if you get the laser skip, but that's risky to bank on.
- - Careful of getting Saix on the wall, Knocksmash can get stuck a lot on some parts of the walls. Using Magnet on Saix when you first knock him out of Berserk will make him counter dash at you, so if you're in the middle of the battlefield, you'll be fine.
- - The Slide Dash on Xemnas #1 is spamming X at beginning of the fight. If you hit Xemnas, you can save 7-10 seconds over not getting it by doing a Trinity early. For current strat after Building RC, you have to stall a lot before the next Trinity. So to do that, combo him after he lands into the backflip.
- - If you do testing on emulator, make sure you are aware that the RNG for certain elements of the game can be decided up until before you even enter the boss room! (such as Xigbar's 1st 3 teleports, Hydra head patterns/attacks, enemy movement, etc). This can even be the case on console from a save point. The fastest way to manipulate save state or save file RNG is to simply kill an enemy
