  1. Smash as a series has been interesting to me mainly because I was ignorant to its competitive community up until the past year or so. I have very fond memories of casually playing 64 and Melee as well as where I was at the time. While I was excited for Brawl, it came out at a time in my life where everything was sorta working against it for silly personal things that I mostly regret. I had just moved and didn't have a group to play it locally, I was moving towards playing online exclusively, I wasn't a fan of its new additions/mechanics (Final Smash) at the time, and it was all compounded by my dissatisfaction with the Wii and its direction as a console back then.

  3. Fast forward to now and my feelings toward the series have largely been rejuvenated. Learning about mechanics and exploits that have been used competitively in the series' past have formed a good deal of how I am playing Smash 4 compared to older entries. I see it as a whole new game now, regardless of how similar it is to the 3DS version and Brawl prior. I have in the past and will always see Smash as the party game series it was intended to be, but the finer intricacies of the series' mechanics are what now have me coming back and interest me, even if they don't all fit or are gimped in later versions. It makes me want to revisit Melee after not having played it for so many years. I don't even know much about Project M to be frank.

  5. Also, I feel I need to clarify the comment I made earlier about, "Smash Wii U is what I wanted out of the 3ds version." What I meant by that was, I actually felt comfortable with the controls (for the most part), I never had an issue with seeing where I was, and the netcode has been remarkably solid.

  7. Now if there were a way to play Project M online in any capacity and not on a Wii, which I no longer have, then I'm all ears. But in the meantime, I'm pretty satisfied with what Smash 4 is at the moment and I hope we can play sometime. :)

  9. Don't sweat about feeling like you're being negative. I enjoy the chance to try to rationalize my jumbled thoughts about this silly series. And yes, I completely understand your ST:Melee - SF4:Smash 4 comparison.
