In the selection it states; "Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, great care was taken to break to her as gently as possible the news of her husband's death." This quote shows that people have to be more gentle with telling her important things. From this we can see that, Mrs. Mallard's heart trouble affects others, since people have to be more delicate and careful.
