  1. He shut the door quietly, ignoring the images that were replaying in his mind. Sister, Girlfriend, couch, clothes strewn over the floor...Matthias decided that he's just leave his house and ignore this...situation. Some childish part of him though that this thing would go away if he ignored it.
  2.
  3. Even though he knew it wasn't true.
  4.
  5. The blond walked down the steps, feeling as if his steps were far to loud. They echoed off of the walls as he descended to the ground floor. He shuddered a bit at the cold, pulling his jacket in a bit closer. The bite of the wind was nothing, however, to the slow burning sensation that was growing in Matthias' chest. It was...like some strange being was clutching at his heart within his chest, but not crushing it - simply prodding it or picking at the tendons. It wasn't enough to be lethal, but enough to cause some serious pain and open some holes.
  6.
  7. The young man sat on a bench in the park, watching his breath spiral up into the air. Was he just a person that people wanted to leave? Why? Matthias was usually a happy person. Sure, he might have been prone to raging a few years ago, and might be a bit on the annoying side, but was that something that practically screamed 'Open target here! Fire away!'? Normally, smiling and wearing your heart on your metaphorical sleeve was a deterrent to pain in your life, right?
  8.
  9. But...how could they? The blond rubbed at his forehead. If Izzy was here and not with /his sister/ she woulda told him that if he frowned he would get wrinkles - and wrinkles were bad because they detracted from a smiling face. Violet had always shown an inclination towards women, that much was true, but never in a million years would Matthias have thought that she had such little decency to...to, to encourage cheating on him with girlfriend he was actually happy with! Matthias felt his jaw set as the shock and sadness left and were quickly replaced with self-righteous fury.
  10.
  11. And to think that he had thought he had found the girl he would want to marry one day! He was going to casually - or as casually as the blond could - approach the topic with her in a few days. They were old enough and finished with college; it shouldn't have been such a stretch to think that she just /might/ have been interested too! Apparently it was. Matthias' fists clenched. He stood back up, beginning to walk back to his house - his house! Not theirs. Maybe he had just been seeing things. Maybe it was something his work addled brain had concocted...No, he shook his head, this wasn't going to go away. It wasn't an illusion.
  12.
  13. This time, when he returned to the wooden door, the young man knocked a few times. The first time, he had meant to surprise Violet with his getting off of work early, this time he was going to make his presence known. Matthias could here frantic shuffles behind the door. He narrowed his eyes: how long had this been going on? By the time the door was opened, all the blond saw was the two most important females in his life giggling about some stupid shit on the Netflix show they were watching together. If he hadn't known what he was looking for, he wouldn't have noticed the pair of black underwear stuffed badly into the sofa cushion. He put on a smile and walked over to them, plopping down onto the sofa. He 'accidentally' dislodged the undergarment, face hardening at the smell that wafted up. He broke the think silence with one sentence, "What happened while I was at work?"
  14.
  15. The continued silence was enough to confirm the reality of his situation. Matthias felt the little holes in his heart widen as he looked at both of their faces - there wasn't even a single bit of guilt to help stop him from doing something stupid.
