  1. Star vs The Forces of Evil: One Last Dance. by WriteFriend
  2.
  3.
  4. [Diaz house, after returning from The Blood Moon Ball]
  5.
  6. Upon returning home, Star asked for some of Marco's home made nacho's considering he partially, ok maybe entirely ruined her night it was the least he could do, Marco got downstairs and got to cooking ASAP, while he was making them his father peeked his head into the kitchen.
  7.
  8. "Uh son why are making nacho's dressed as a matador?"
  9. Marco looked down and then facepalmed. He was so deep in thought about the nights event he forgot to take off his disguise, minus the mask and hat he left those in Star's room.
  10. "It's a long story dad involving the moon and demons, I'll explain later" Replied Marco.
  11. "Oh o...k then be sure to turn off the stove and the lights when your done" said a very puzzled mr. Diaz before heading back to the living room. "least he's not on drugs" Mr. Diaz said to himself.
  12.
  13. Marco finished up the plate of his trademark nacho's and carefully took the plate upstairs back to Star's room passing his mom and dad on the couch as they watched some a Spanish soap opera, Mrs. Diaz watched her son walk past her and up the stairs Marco never realizing she was staring at him.
  14.
  15. "Aww I know that face, its his I'm sorry face" Mrs Diaz whispered to her husband. "Don't know about the matador costume though"
  16. "Has to do with demons and the moon" Mr. Diaz replied.
  17. "Sooo Star?" Mrs. Diaz asked her husband.
  18. "Yup" replied Mr. Diaz never taking his eyes off the TV.
  19. Mrs. Diaz just shrugged. Things have gotten weird around here.
  20.
  21. Marco knocked on Stars door, her voice telling him to come in he walked inside, Star was still out on her balcony where he left her, the light from tonight's red moon made Marco remember that weird dungeon where he danced with Star under that red spotlight thing. Marco placed the plate of nacho's on her desk, he was unsure of what to do next but ultimately decided to go talk to her.
  22.
  23. "I brought you your nachos, made fresh the Marco way," Marco said with a smile, walking up next to her, he placed his hands on bricks that made the edge of the balcony and looked out in no particular direction.
  24.
  25. "Thanks Marco, I appreciate it" Star finally replied but she sounded like she too was deep in thought.
  26.
  27. Marco just sighed and kept looking out over the horizon, the night was perfectly clear, not a cloud in the sky just an endless sea of stars arround the cresecent red moon. The silence between them was defeaning and it was killing marco on the inside. He turned around and started heading for the door.
  28.
  29. "Wait, thats it your just gonna leave?" Star didn't even turn her head to acknowledge him.
  30.
  31. "I-I thought since you know things are kinda wierd between us right now because of me that I should leave you alone...if you want to go back to the ball I promise i won't follow this time, creepy pirate voice or not" replied Marco dejectly.
  32.
  33. "Creepy pirate voice?" Now Star turned to look at him confused.
  34.
  35. Marco facepalmed again, he forgot to tell her.
  36.
  37. "Yeah it's not an excuse but I swear this happened while you were gone I heard this distinct voice say something about the moon and the dance and so I got more worried and thats when I decided to crash the ball"
  38.
  39. Marco's tone told Star he wasn't lying not that Marco would lie to her about something like this, he's not that sort of person, it helped Star put some things in perspective.
  40.
  41. "Don't leave Marco, If your that sorry least you can do what I ask of you for now and I want you to stay"
  42.
  43. Marco nodded and went back to the balcony. Fair enough he thought.
  44.
  45. A strong gust of wind started to blow, Star crossed her arms across her chest and shivered a little Marco knew was stubborn and would catch a cold out here so he took off his matador jacket and placed it around her back and shoulders, Marco was still wearing his white shirt long sleeve shirt so the cold did not bother him.
  46.
  47. "Always my knight in shining armor ready to save little ol' me huh?" Star asked her tone sounded sarcastic and yet she still snuggled herself around his jacket. Marco just pinched the top of his nose near his eyes in frustration, this was his life now he figured everything he does will now be wrong.
  48.
  49. "Look I'm just...you don't know me as well as you think you do Ok..I just don't want...fine whatever" Marco spat out, blushing a little he must have sounded angry but truth is his feelings were hurt a little.
  50.
  51. "I was just messing around" Star said leaning over and nudging his shoulder with her head "Didn't think that would trigger you" She slipped her arms through the jacket sleeves. "Thanks for the this" she whispered standing closer to Marco. "I mean it".
  52.
  53. "Your welcome" Marco whispered back.
  54.
  55. Marco and Star remained quiet looking over the horizon, the light from the moon glowing brighter but they didn't notice, they were at peace.
  56.
  57. "I want to finish our dance" Star said breaking the silence.
  58.
  59. "Wait now!? Marco asked looking nervous, cheeks turning red. "I don't know Star that whole thing was kinda a in the moment deal, I'm really not as good dancer as you think I am I only took 2 years worth of classes and" marco facepalmed yet again. "I should not have said that"
  60.
  61. Star was smiling from ear to ear.
  62.
  63. "Oh no way, your not leaving this room until you dance with me now!" said Star giggling she ran to her bedroom door aimed her wand at it and a hundred locks magically appeared on it. Star gave Marco a huge smile and thumbs up.
  64.
  65. "Ah but we don't have musi-" Star pulled out Marco's phone from his jacket before he could finish what he was saying. She walked around to Marco's cassete player that he had brought up earlier to listen to dia des los muertos music and plugged his phone in with a cable on the back of the cassete player.
  66.
  67. "You were saying" Star said slyly.
  68.
  69. Star began tapping on his phone, soon some music started to echo throughout the room. Star began tapping her feet to the lyrics to a popular song from a few summers ago:
  70.
  71. Am I blanchin',
  72. Girl we blanchin'
  73. I live up in a mansion
  74.
  75. Am I blanchin',
  76. Girl we blanchin'
  77. I live up in a mansion
  78.
  79. Marco couldnt help but laugh. "Not exactly a song we can dance to" but Star kept up her rythem until the song stopped.
  80.
  81. "Ok then you pick silly" Star said signaling Marco to take the phone. Marco began flipping through his music app eventually hitting random. Eddie Murphy's Party all the Time started playing.
  82.
  83. "ooooh fun fact my dad got the prom queen to dance to this song with him at his own prom"
  84. Marco began to dance, he must have looked like a huge dork but Star was clapping him on and tapping her foot to the beat as he went. Marco grabbed Stars hand and pulled her in close. "Here do what I do" Marco said gleefully, Star nodded and began to mimick his silly dance moves while raising her arms in the air and swaying her hips back and forth. Soon both kids were laughing hysterically at each others dancing but they kept at it.
  85.
  86. Downstairs Mr and Mrs Diaz looked up at the ceiling as the noise from Stars room was coming in loud and clear. Mr. Diaz lept up from the couch and turn off the TV.
  87.
  88. "I remember gathering the courage to ask the prom queen to dance with me to this song but she said eww not in a 100 years and threw her drink in my face"
  89.
  90. He reached down and pulled up his wife by her hand.
  91. "But how do you feel about dancing with me after just 18?" Mrs. Diaz started to blush and leaned up against her husband. "I said I was sorry the next day you big handsome goofball"
  92.
  93. Eventually the song came to an end. Both Star and Marco were just smiling and laughing, the both sat on the wooden floor of Stars room. Marco thought for sure she'd never smile at him again he was glad he was wrong.
  94.
  95. "That was fun but not exactly what I had in mind" Star said getting up. "Give me something more...personal like how it was when we under the moon's light"
  96.
  97. Marco gulped and blushed at the same time, he was worried she was gonna ask for that, but he agreed.
  98.
  99. "I don't have any waltz's or ballroom music though but I think I can find something" he said going his music.
  100.
  101. "I don't care, as long as you actually hold me like you did earlier" Star replied putting on Marco's red hat. Marco took a deep breath and kept looking. Finally he found one that might work, he made put the song on delay for a few seconds and hit play.
  102.
  103. He turned to look for Star and found her on the balconey again, she was wearing his hat and mask now ontop of his jacket, he smiled and walked up to join her before the music started.
  104.
  105. "Whaddaya think?" Am I mysterious now?" she asked in a hushed voice.
  106.
  107. "Oh sorry clearly very manly stranger I'm looking for Star Butterfly but maybe you can give me tips on growing a moustache like yours" replied Marco squinting his eyes with his hand to his forehead like a pirate high on the ships mast looking for land.
  108.
  109. "Oh haha real funny" she said giving him a light joking push.
  110.
  111. Marco took hold of Star as he had done earlier in the night, as the music began to play. He had picked Midnight City by M83.
  112.
  113. "You know save the mask for people with faces like mine, you don't need to hide yourself" Marco told her taking off the mask and tossing it to the side. Star buried her face in his shoulder to hide her red cheeks.
  114.
  115. "I like this song" star whispered softly her face still on his shoulder.
  116. "I'm glad," he whispred back.
  117.
  118. Marco wrapped his arms around her waist, and Star placed hers around his neck as the song continued, the balconey was small but somehow it felt right to be here with her under the moon light. He moved back and forth, with star gracefully following his movements he even twirled her much to Stars glee before reeling her back close to him.
  119.
  120. "Star...are we good now? He said softly into her ear.
  121. Star just nodded and pushed his head down closer to hers so they were looking into each others eyes.
  122. "We've always been good" she answered back.
  123.
  124. They continued to dance even as the final notes of Midnight City faded out, above them the red moon illuminated them on that balcony, two shooting stars streaked side by side across the sky.
  125.
  126. It was a good night after all.
