  1. >The warmth of the sun rests on your face, making you groan and open your eyes.
  2. >You sit up and stretch out your arms to start a new day full of dumb equestrian bullshit.
  3. >After stretching, you slide off the bed and walk to your bathroom to relieve yourself.
  4. >You use the toilet and then head into the shower.
  5. >Once your morning routine is complete, you head out to get dressed.
  6. >As you're pulling a shirt over your face, you hear a knock on the door downstairs.
  7. >Turning your head, you look at the clock to see it says 7:30.
  8. “She's right on time.”
  9. >Cherry Berry, also known as your angry friend with a bit of an obsession, always comes by around this time.
  10. >You sigh a bit as you finish dressing yourself.
  11. “Wonder what she's going to try to pull today...”
  12. >You walk out of the room and head down the stairs.
  13. >Knocks slam against the door once again and you shake your head.
  14. “Yeah yeah, I'm coming!”
  15. >Quickly go over to the door and open it before she bashes it down knocking so hard.
  16. >Just as you thought, Cherry Berry stands there.
  17. >She has an angry look in her eye as she stares up at you.
  18. >"You should just admit your love for me already."
  19. "I'm not going to do that, Cherry."
  20. >Her lip quivers and her eyes begin watering.
  21. >"Why don't you love me Anon? I do everything for you, even come bring you my company every day!”
  22. >She looks back at her rump. “Is it my figure? Am I too fat for you?”
  23. >You shake your head and try to explain.
  24. “No, that's not why-”
  25. >She interrupts you, screaming, “I DON'T EVEN EAT THAT MUCH!"
  26. >Her loudness is attracting the attention of the quiet yellow mare that lives down the street in the cottage.
  27. >You quickly pull Cherry inside and shut the door to rid yourself of an awkward conversation from Fluttershy later on.
  28. >Cherry looks a bit flustered as you hold her close to you.
  29. >Realizing that you're still holding her, you quickly let go and start talking.
  30. "Look, want to know why I don't like you like that?"
  31. >She stomps her hoof down and shouts, "Yes!"
  32. "You're always angry."
  33. >She blinks a few times and then furrows her brow, “Am not!”
  34. "...See?"
  35. >She stops and sits down, her tone changing dramatically.
  36. >"But I'm not always angry..."
  37. "You seem that way."
  38. >She looks up, confused as to why you said that. "Why?"
  39. "Body language mostly. Usually when talking to a friend you smile, not frown."
  40. >"Why should I smile? Nothing was funny."
  41. >You bring your hand up to your forehead and groan a little.
  42. >Pulling your hand away, you look down at the angry pink mare.
  43. "Okay, I have an idea."
  44. >"What?"
  45. "You go through a regular day and I'll tag along to tell you if you're acting angry. Maybe we can fix this."
  46. >Cherry's face lights up with happiness, "Really? You'd do that for me?!"
  47. >You shrug a little.
  48. “Yeah, I guess.”
  49. >She jumps up and wraps her hooves around your neck hard. “Thanks!”
  50. "Yeah, yeah whatever. Now let's go."
  51. >You pull her off your neck and set her down.
  52. >She heads out of the house and you follow her, closing the door behind yourself.
  53. >"Alright, the first thing I do is go visit my friends."
  54. "How many friends do you have?"
  55. >"Like 5."
  56. >Wonder why.
  57. "Okay, let's go visit the friends then."
  58. >She nods and you follow her all the way into town to the small greenhouse building.
  59. >You've always wondered who lives here.
  60. >She knocks on the door and you stand next to her.
  61. >When it opens, Roseluck is there smiling.
  62. >"Hi, Cherry! Hello, Anonymous?"
  63. "Oh, don't mind me. I'm just helping out today."
  64. >She turns her head back to Cherry.
  65. >“Oh okay. Cherry, how are you?"
  66. >Cherry is not smiling, so you cough to get her attention.
  67. >She looks over at you, and you form a smile.
  68. >She nods her head and puts on a slightly faked smile.
  69. >"Hey Rose! I'm doing just fine."
  70. >They both smile at each other for a few seconds.
  71. >You nudge Cherry.
  72. "You aren't going to ask her how she is?"
  73. >She looks up at you and answers honestly.
  74. >"I don't care."
  75. >Rose looks hurt and runs back inside, slamming the door behind her.
  76. >These ponies are way too emotional.
  77. >You knock on the door again and shuffling around is heard before it opens again.
  78. >Rose's eyes are watery and pinkish as she looks at you.
  79. "Look, I'm trying to help Cherry be more of a nice pony. I'm sorry if we offended you, Rose."
  80. >Rose smiles and nods.
  81. >She then closes the door and you both turn around.
  82. "Cherry, what the fuck was that? Do you not understand basic communication?"
  83. >"I understand communication, I just didn't care about how she was."
  84. >You groan as you grip the bridge of your nose.
  85. "Cherry, most people really don't care about how each other are, it's just a nice thing to say."
  86. >“Ohhh... DAMN IT!"
  87. >Three fillies a few feet away freeze in place once hearing this new word.
  88. >Yell to them,
  89. "Hey! Don't repeat that!"
  90. >They quickly rush away and you glare back at Cherry.
  91. "Really? Swearing is not a nice thing to do Cherry. It's better if you'd say those things when you're not out in public."
  92. >"Why not Anon? Didn't you do it earlier?"
  93. “The difference between when I did it and when you did is that I didn't scream it.”
  94. >“Oh...”
  95. "Swearing a lot also makes you seem like a mean pony."
  96. >She nods as if she's making a mental note of this.
  97. >“Okay, next friend!”
  98. >She leads you to the next house, another building with a greenhouse in the back.
  99. >This greenhouse is smaller than the other one.
  100. >She knocks on the door and you stand to the side to observe.
  101. >The door opens to reveal Lily.
  102. >She smiles at Cherry and Cherry quickly glaces at you to know if she's supposed to smile.
  103. >You quickly nod and she smiles at Lily.
  104. >Lily starts the greeting.
  105. >"Hi Cherry! How are you doing today?"
  106. >"Hey Lily! I'm doing pretty good. How about you?"
  107. >She's learning.
  108. >This is good.
  109. >"I've been better actually. You see, my hooves are really sore from potting plants all day yesterday."
  110. >Cherry just stares at her, not saying anything.
  111. "Cherry."
  112. >She looks over at you, confused as to what she's done wrong.
  113. >Lily just notices you as well and smiles at you.
  114. >"Hey Anon! I didn't see you there. Whatcha doing?"
  115. "I'm trying to help Cherry be less mean and angry."
  116. >Lily's smile widens.
  117. >"That's so nice of you! Aww..."
  118. >You raise an eyebrow to her reaction.
  119. "Why aww?"
  120. >"I wish I had a coltfriend who was nice enough to help me like that..."
  121. "Wait, she's not my-"
  122. >A high pitched screech from inside Lily's house interrupts you.
  123. >Lily smiles at the both of you.
  124. >"Tea time! You want some?"
  125. >Cherry looks at you and then back to Lily, "I'm sorry, we just don't have time."
  126. >Lily looks a little saddened, but hides it, "Oh, well, that's alright. Goodbye then!"
  127. >Cherry says nothing, so you speak for both of you.
  128. "Bye!"
  129. >Cherry turns to leave the house as Lily closes the door.
  130. >You catch up with Cherry a good distance away from the house and you stop her.
  131. "Cherry, when someone complains about something, you're supposed to say that you feel bad for them."
  132. >"But I didn't feel bad for her. I was glad it wasn't me."
  133. >Fucking damn it, Cherry.
  134. "It's the nice thing to do."
  135. >She trots a little bit over to a bench and slams her bottom down hard on it.
  136. >She hangs her head as you follow her over there.
  137. >"I never thought this would be so difficult.”
  138. >She looks up at you.
  139. >“How do you do it so well?"
  140. "It's the way we're raised I guess. You probably didn't grow up with too much of that, did you?"
  141. >"Not really."
  142. >There is a long and uneasy silence after this.
  143. >You cough to break it and draw her attention.
  144. "Cherry.”
  145. >She looks up at you.
  146. “...don't forget to say goodbye."
  147. >She nods.
  148. >To prevent the awkward silence from taking over again, you turn to her.
  149. "So, where to now?"
  150. >"Minuette's house."
  151. >She hops off the bench and you follow her lead.
  152. >You approach a regular looking house and she knocks on the door.
  153. >It opens and Minuette is there looking tired, but still forcing a smile.
  154. >"Hello, Anon and Cherry."
  155. "Don't mind me, just here to help Cherry."
  156. >She nods and then continues, "How are you Cherry?"
  157. >"Hey Minuette. I'm okay. What about you? You look troubled."
  158. >Minuette sighs, "Just... Taking care of twin foals on your own can be rough, ya know?"
  159. >Cherry gulps and looks to you.
  160. >You nod and give her the okay.
  161. >She looks back to Minuette.
  162. >"Uh... I feel bad for you?"
  163. >Minuette looks a tad bit confused why she said that like a question, but before she can speak, loud screams are heard from inside.
  164. >Minuette cuts the conversation short.
  165. >"I have to go. Bye you two!"
  166. >You wave.
  167. "Bye!"
  168. >Cherry remembers what you said last time and shouts, "Goodbye!"
  169. >Minuette closes the door and the two of you walk a little bit away from the house.
  170. >Cherry stops you, looking excited.
  171. >"Did I do it right?"
  172. "Yes, you did do it right Cherry. Now next time you don't have to look at me to confirm everything you do."
  173. >"...was I really doing that?"
  174. >You nod.
  175. >"Oh. Well let's go to the next one then!"
  176. >She proudly trots some direction and you follow behind her.
  177. >She stops at a very normal looking house that you've passed multiple times before.
  178. >Guess you're about to find out who lives here.
  179. >She knocks on the door and Bon Bon swings it open almost immediately.
  180. >Lyra stands submissively behind her.
  181. >Cherry is fired up as she starts the conversing, "Hello girls! How are you?"
  182. >Bon Bon has a pissy attitude, "Well I would be a little bit better if somepony would do the dishes and clean up after herself."
  183. >Lyra shoots a glare to her. "I do clean up after myself! You're just mad because I orgasmed first, aren't you?!"
  184. >Oh dear.
  185. >Bon Bon gasps, turns to Lyra, and pushes her.
  186.
  187. >"You bitch!"
  188. >Cherry has no clue what to do in this situation.
  189. >Alright, time to work your gentlemanly charm.
  190. "Ladies, ladies please. Relax yourselves. What seems to be the problem here?"
  191. >They quickly turn away from each other.
  192. >Lyra speaks first.
  193. >"She's angry because of this morning."
  194. >You look at Bon Bon.
  195. "What happened this morning, Bon Bon?"
  196. >"Well first off, I'm not mad about this morning. Second, what happened this morning was none of your business and you should just fuck off."
  197. >Fucking cunt.
  198. >No no, you can't call her that.
  199. >Keep your cool Anon, you're trying to set an example for Cherry, remember?
  200. >Bon Bon continues, "Why are you even here? You're not my friend."
  201. >Lyra snaps at her tan lover, "He's my friend!"
  202. >Bon Bon throws her hooves out at you.
  203. >"But he's just a big monkey! How can you be friends with a big monkey-OH I SEE NOW! YOU WANT HIS FILTHY HANDS INSTEAD OF MY TONGUE, DON'T YOU?!"
  204. >Lyra quickly looks at you with a face full of blush, waving her hooves and shaking her head.
  205. >"N-No it's not l-like that at all Anon!"
  206. >What the fuck is even happening right now?
  207. >Bon Bon obtains direct control.
  208. >"Whatever. Lyra, get back inside. I'll talk to you when I'm done with monkey man here."
  209. >Lyra nods and walks submissively back inside, closing the door behind herself.
  210. >Bon Bon gives you disgusted look.
  211. >"So monkey, why do you got the hots for my Lyra?"
  212. >Shocked that she would assume this, you're a bit taken back.
  213. "What? I don't even like her!"
  214. >"Yeah, sure. Aren't you dating Cherry?"
  215. >You shake your head hard.
  216. "No! I'm not dating anyone!"
  217. >Cherry looks hurt.
  218. >“Well you don't have to say it that forcefully...”
  219. >You glare at her.
  220. “Like you're any better at not being blunt.”
  221. >She backs down from the argument.
  222. >Bon Bon continues.
  223. >"So you aren't dating anyone, but you fool around with Cherry and Lyra? You're a player then?!"
  224. >Holy fucking shit...
  225. >Before you can say anything, Cherry steps forward.
  226. >Bon Bon smirks at her.
  227. >"Hey Cherry, here to take your monkey out of here?"
  228. >Uh oh.
  229. >Cherry gets in Bon Bon's face, "Listen here, bitch. Nopony talks like that to my man."
  230. >Well, this just got out of hand.
  231. >Bon Bon looks shocked that Cherry just said that.
  232. >"What the fuck did you just call me?"
  233. >Without any warning, Cherry jumps up and cracks her across the head.
  234. >Instant knock out.
  235. "Fuck, Cherry! Why did you do that?!"
  236. >She turns to you with a happy smile and wide eyes.
  237. >"She was being mean to you, so I wanted to be nice to you by being mean to her. Does that mean I'm still being nice?"
  238. >You throw your hands up and walk away from the house, leaving Bon Bon unconsious at her doorstep.
  239. "Fuck this, I give up."
  240. >Cherry follows you down the path.
  241. >"B-But why?"
  242. "It's impossible to teach you to not be so angry and mean."
  243. >She hangs her head.
  244. >"But I thought... I thought that you were going to love me when I got nice... Does that mean..."
  245. >Tears start forming in her eyes.
  246. >"You'll never love me?!"
  247. >She is on the verge of sobbing.
  248. “You're just so fucking stubborn, Cherry!”
  249. >She points up to the house.
  250. >“I'm not stubborn, this was just a different scenario! If I'm too nice in situations like that, then I'll end up like that yellow pushover down the street from you!”
  251. >She comes close to you and rubs up against your leg.
  252. >“Please... I want to change for you. Please don't stop now.”
  253. >You look down at her as she stares down at your feet, leaning her weight into your legs.
  254. "...fine."
  255. >She looks up at you with a tiny smile on her face.
  256. >She asks excitedly, "Really?!"
  257. >You put your hand on her head and run your fingers through her mane.
  258. "Yes, just control yourself. Remember to breathe."
  259. >She and closes her eyes as you pet her.
  260. >You stop and she looks up at you.
  261. "So, what do you do now?"
  262. >She moves away from being so close to your body.
  263. >"Oh yeah, I go to work pulling trash carts through the alleys and emptying the dumpsters."
  264. "Where does it go?"
  265. >"To the trash yard."
  266. >She walks you down a few blocks to a shed just outside of the trash yard.
  267. >Inside are two large carts that don't exactly have the best smell in the world.
  268. >Cherry fastens herself into the cart to the right, then frowns as she looks at the other one.
  269. >"The other one is for Bon Bon. But um..."
  270. >You nod and walk over.
  271. "Yeah. Don't worry, I got it."
  272. >As you attach it to your waist, Cherry tilts her head in confusion.
  273. "What is it now?"
  274. >"Why are you doing this?"
  275. >You answer her as you finish attaching the cart to your waist.
  276. "Because offering someone help is a nice thing to do."
  277. >She nods and starts to walk forward.
  278. >“Just follow me, I'll show you the route.”
  279. >You nod to her and follow behind her.
  280. >It's been about three hours of walking around, and the job is actually way easier than you thought it would be.
  281. >Thankfully, the dumpsters only were filled with light things like toys or food.
  282. >After you've cleaned out most of the town and have a fairly large pile of gross behind you, you start heading back to the trash yard.
  283. >You find yourself walking a bit faster than Cherry, so you're a tad bit ahead of her.
  284. >"Oh um, excuse me."
  285. >You turn to see a griffon standing in front of Cherry.
  286. >The griffon doesn't look like she wants to move.
  287. >Cherry asks again, "Excuse me, I need to get through."
  288. >You walk ahead a little so that Cherry can move around the griffon, but the griffon steps in front of her again when she tries.
  289. >This might not be good.
  290. >Cherry starts to look angry, but then stops and takes a deep breath.
  291. >She sticks out a hoof.
  292. >"Well um... Hello, I'm Cherry! It's nice to meet you!"
  293. >This is good, she's trying everything you've taught her.
  294. >The griffon just stares at her.
  295. >You undo yourself from the cart and watch with caution.
  296. >Cherry retracts her hoof and follows the griffon's eyes to the trash behind her.
  297. >"What, do you see something you like in the cart? Here, I'll turn to the side so you can see more."
  298. >She turns the entire cart sideways and smiles at the griffon.
  299. >Suddenly, the griffon kicks it over and it spills on the ground.
  300. >She begins laughing as Cherry scrambles to put the trash back in.
  301. >"You goody four hooves! Hahaha! Such a dweeb."
  302. >Cherry's face scrunches and she looks at you.
  303. >You mouth the words, 'It's okay, you can be mean.'
  304. >Cherry nods and continues putting trash back in the cart.
  305. >Wait, what?
  306. "Cherry what are you doing?"
  307. >The griffon flies up and lands in front of you, standing tall.
  308. >"What are YOU doing here, monkey? Shouldn't you be in the forest? Or with that weird mare with the animals?"
  309. >You see Cherry just putting the cart back the right way.
  310. >Oh no.
  311. >This is not the time for her be nice.
  312. >The griffon forces herself into your vision by craning her neck so that your face and her own are mere centimeters away from each other.
  313. >"I SAID, what are you doing here?"
  314. >You back up a little.
  315. "I live here, in Ponyville. And I'm not a monkey, I'm a human."
  316. >"Hooman? That's the dumbest name for something I've ever heard!"
  317. >She flies up a little and starts to laugh at you.
  318. >“What in the heck is a hooman?! Hahahaha!”
  319. >Your fists ball and you see Cherry approaching from behind with a small smile on her face.
  320. >She asks, "Excuse me, Miss Griffon?"
  321. >The griffon stops laughing and flies over so that she's just above Cherry.
  322. >"It's Gilda, bitch."
  323. >Cherry's eye twitches and she stops smiling.
  324. >Her tone changes dramatically, dropping down to a grumble.
  325. >"What did you just call me?"
  326. >Gilda, obviously having fun with this, repeats herself.
  327. >"A bitch, ya dumb bitch!"
  328. >Cherry's gaze shifts from you to Gilda and she furrows her brow.
  329. >"Call me a bitch... one more time."
  330. >"Bit-"
  331. >Quick as explosive diarrhea after taco night, she uppercuts Gilda, cutting her off.
  332. >The griffon falls on her back, but gets up and wipes some blood from her face.
  333. >"Fine then, let's go bitch!"
  334. >You rush over and jump up, bringing down your elbow on her back.
  335. >She slams against the ground and Cherry bucks her in the face.
  336. >Instant knockout.
  337. >Cherry smiles at you and you smile back at her.
  338. >You put your hands on your hips and stare down at the unconscious creature.
  339. "We fucked her up!"
  340. >"Damn straight we did!"
  341. >You and Cherry bump hoof and hand and share a few laughs.
  342. >Cherry then sighs as she looks at the pile of trash next to her cart.
  343. >“Great, now we have to clean this up.”
  344. >You smirk.
  345. “Maybe not...”
  346. >Cherry looks at you, confused as to what you're implying.
  347.
  348. ...
  349.
  350. >The two of you walk away with your carts a little lighter as a certain half lion half eagle wakes up in a pile of rotten food and broken cups.
  351. >You hear a loud scream from way on the other side of town as you pull into the trash yard, making both of you look at each other and smirk.
  352. >As you empty your carts into the trash yard and put them back, you notice that the sun is starting to set.
  353. >You turn and start to walk with Cherry back to the rest of town.
  354. >Cherry asks as the two of you walk together,
  355. >"Well Anon... Do you think I'm not so angry now?"
  356. >You shake your head.
  357. "Nah. You're still angry and mean as fuck."
  358. >Cherry stutters while her voice starts to crack, "B-B-But-"
  359. >You interrupt her with a hand on her head.
  360. "But maybe it's me that should learn to accept you that way though."
  361. >She tilts her head a little in confusion as she looks up at you.
  362. >"But I thought you didn't like me like this?"
  363. "While it might be a bit annoying, I do admit that it adds a little spice into my life."
  364. >Her eyes brighten and she jumps onto your chest, wrapping her hooves around your neck once again.
  365. >"Yes!”
  366. >You smile a little and hug the pony back.
  367. >She then leans in a little and whispers to you.
  368. >“Does this mean you'll love me now?”
  369. “Maybe someday Cherry."
  370. >You watch the sun slink under the horizon as you pet the pony who hugs your neck.
  371. “Maybe someday.”
