NERV Second Base : Episode 05

08[14:10] <00@Siege> [ Continuing from last time: ]
08[14:11] <00@Siege> Another tremor, this time far larger than the last, and the alarm doesn't cut out like before. Down the hall, Remington, Gendo, and their crew round the corner with Fuyutsuki and Dr. Shepard speaking to eachother in Japanese as Gendo scans the building. His eyes stop on the three pilots. The alarm is accompanied by Kim's familiar voice: "Attention: There is an Angel on base."
06[14:12] * Bryant_Wallace walks up to Remington, handing him the documents, and request permision to engage the Angel, standing at attention
08[14:15] <00@Siege> Gendo seems to stare at Bryant and the others while Remington can only react: he quickly grabs the papers and orders the pilots to the hangar.
08[14:15] <00@Siege> "You three all have orders to engage."
06[14:15] * Asa_Kennedy nods.
06[14:15] * Bryant_Wallace salutes quite seriously, and pushs the other pilots in the direction of the hanger
06[14:16] * Sam_Shepherd salutes smartly, a wicked smile on his face, before hurrying off himself.
08[14:17] <00@Siege> As the pilots make their way to the hangar, they can briefly hear Gendo's own phone go off. While getting into the plugsuits, the tremors from before can still be heard intermittantly outside.
06[14:17] * Asa_Kennedy says "No dying this time Samael..."
06[14:18] * Sam_Shepherd gets dressed without ceremony, like usual. "Okay. Then don't throw me this time."
[14:19] <Asa_Kennedy> "I didn't...that was all you two brainiacs"
06[14:19] * Bryant_Wallace is getting into his plug suit "Well lets hope it's not another flyer then"
06[14:20] * Asa_Kennedy changes in the bathroom per usual and comes back out.
08[14:21] <00@Siege> The Pilots are ready and head towards the Hangar where the technicians are hurrying as fast as they can: Luckily their having been an inspection tday resulted in most of the systems being ready to go. Closer to the surface than before, the tremors heard earlier can be placed alongside muffled machinegun fire.
06[14:22] * Bryant_Wallace hears that "OKAY GET YOUR ASSES MOVEING WE GOT SOLDERS DYING UP THERE!!!"
06[14:22] * Asa_Kennedy rolls his eyes "god he's loud..."
06[14:23] * Sam_Shepherd isn't even paying attention. He's already halfway to his entry plug.
08[14:23] <00@Siege> The technicians around Bryant seem to hurry their efforts. Once inside the Entry Plugs, Falconer's voice comes through a Bridge Comms window:
06[14:23] * Bryant_Wallace freaking leaps into his plug and closes his own hatch
08[14:24] <00@Siege> "It's bad enough that these struck while Gendo is here: We're to keep this thing contained while Gendo himself moves off base towards...wherever it is he's going. After that, just take it down."
06[14:24] * Asa_Kennedy plugs in and gets comfortable.
[14:25] <Bryant_Wallace> "No worries, we'll curb stomp the son of a bitch!"
08[14:26] <00@Siege> From the intensity of the comms message, it seems that there's also others in the background frightened about something or other involving Gendo. After Falconer's short message however, the Evangelions cages open free and the elevator up readies to take them.
08[14:27] <00@Siege> Falconer's hops onto comms one last time: "How close do you want to be to when you get off this thing? So far it's been...fiesty...with countermeasures within arm's reach."
06[14:28] * Bryant_Wallace seeom anxious, he dosen't like the idea of ground pounders being at risk up there, he tightly grips his dog tags "So your saying it's a serious threat in hand to hand?"
06[14:28] * Sam_Shepherd tightens his grip on his spear. "Just let me out, Sir."
06[14:28] * Bryant_Wallace thinks "No choice deploy me close"
08[14:28] <00@Siege> Falconer responds to Bryant first, and flatly replies: "Yes."
06[14:29] * Asa_Kennedy "I guess.....I have no choice..."
08[14:29] <00@Siege> "Alright, we'll get you two there. Kennedy, just try to reposition yourself if neccesary. It's currently just off base, near the highway..."
[14:30] <Bryant_Wallace> "Got it, Okay team I'll get close and piss it off, you guys flank it and strike from the sides"
08[14:31] <00@Siege> As the elevator slides to a stop, the external doors begin opening and allow the raucous noise of missile turrets and artillery cascade around them. from the distance, turrets continue to rise and fall from within the landscape in a pattern that seems to have a blue, crystalized looking shape in place...

08[14:32] <00@Siege> It seems, as far as you can tell, impervious to the majority of firepower being used against it.
06[14:32] * Bryant_Wallace thinks "That is one big son of a bitch"
[14:44] <Sam_Shepherd> Unit 07 steps forward towards the beast, shifts into a fighting stance... and then just kinda stands there.
06[14:48] * Bryant_Wallace is charging into close distance with the angel
06[14:48] * Asa_Kennedy moves forward and freezes up. "uh....."
06[14:52] * Bryant_Wallace rolls behind a building for cover
[14:52] <Bryant_Wallace> "In position, where are you two?"
06[14:52] * Asa_Kennedy faintly makes gurgling sounds.
[14:53] <Sam_Shepherd> There's no response from Sam's plug
08[14:54] <00@Siege> The Angel seems to turn while floating, leaving the conventional forces bouncing off it's hide, towards the Evangelions. It then idly turns back and with pinpoint beam it sends a dancing light across the hills where the missile launchers were, letting them explode in a cascade.
[14:54] <Bryant_Wallace> "Oh I'm in some shit now"
08[14:54] <00@Siege> It then seems to float idly.
06[14:59] * Bryant_Wallace dashes from his cover at top speed and runs up to punch the Angel and... the Angel seems to block his attack!
[14:59] <Bryant_Wallace> "NOT GOOD!"
08[15:00] <00@Siege> The angel lets it's long front limb idly smack Bryant's own attack away. It them seems to look at the Evangelion with a mixture of curiousity and confusion.
08[15:05] <00@Siege> As it watches, it raises a front limb gingerly and goes to beat the Evangelion down with it, but instead just swings lazily and slow.
06[15:07] * Bryant_Wallace hops to the side to evade that massive limb "SAM ASA, GET THE FUCK IN POSITION PLEASE!!"
[15:10] <Sam_Shepherd> "...No!" Sam's head suddenly snaps up, his eyes narrowing. "Father? I'm going to use it now..." he says softly, his voice sounding somewhat shaky.
[15:11] <Sam_Shepherd> Then, a little louder. "...Executing system override. Code: Qliphoth Drive. Disengage limiters."
08[15:12] <00@Siege> Elsewhere on base, a busied and confused Falconer makes sure someone in the science section knows what exactly is going on. Nathaniel or the rest of NERV-04's higher ups are no where to be found on the bridge.
[15:13] <Sam_Shepherd> Immediately the lights in his entry plug dim, taking on a faint greenish tinge. The HUD flickers, then shifts, rearranging itself into new readouts. The glass disks on his plugsuit begin to glow, the insides spinning with a faint whirr of motion as Sam leans forward in the pilot seat. Outside, steam begins to rise from between the joints of 07's armor.
06[15:17] * Bryant_Wallace trying to keep the Angels focus on Him runs by and tries to punch the angel again, but his swing is just a bit short "SHIT I should of landed that one!"
06[15:24] * Asa_Kennedy grunts and moves forward a bit. "Bryant! What are you doing?! Children...I swear!"  He closes his eyes and puts his hands together. "Heavenly father, guide me...guide us, your sheep to victory. Protect us and give us strength to fight in your name o Lord".
06[15:25] * Asa_Kennedy awkwardly attempts to make the sign of the cross as he focus all on neutralizing the rogue Angel. "Return to Him who you should serve without defiance"
08[15:26] <00@Siege> Asmodel seems to turn cautiously about, but at feeling Asa's own AT field he twists himself about and faces him, allowing his own AT field to glow and shimmer brightly in the daylight.
08[15:36] <00@Siege> Asmodel again tries to put down the firey puglist in front of it but fails again with his large, unwieldy paddle-hands, leaving the smug fighter standing in front fo him.
06[15:39] * Bryant_Wallace evaded the first strike, but was struck with the second strike, the armor on his leg holding strong!
08[15:40] <00@Siege> Asmodel then grows bitter at Bryant's continued existance and instead flares out his large blue limbs, revealing smaller tertiary limbs. One of these snaps out and glows white hot: There's an enormous flash and an intense exchange of particles and heat on Bryant's armor but both fighters seem unscathed...
[15:43] <Sam_Shepherd> Meanwhile, 07 springs forward, sending earth and roadway crumbling and flying away as he rushes towards his foe. The green and purple patterned areas of its armor are beginning to emit a faint glow at the edges, as if heating up dramatically.
06[15:48] * Bryant_Wallace meanwhile leaps up pulling him self closer to it's "face" and starts punching it in the head screaming "EAT THIS SHITHEAD!!!"
08[15:49] <00@Siege> Each punch from Bryant seems to really connect despite the carapice from the Angel. Asmodel looks unamused as his top becomes bruised.
06[15:56] * Asa_Kennedy rolls his eyes at Bryant's neanderthal attempts. He lifts his rifle and carefully aims at the Angel's face. Without hesitation he pulls the trigger and grins as the bullet successfully makes contact.
08[15:58] <00@Siege> Asmodel takes the shot with grace and poise, letting his AT field react with spectacular colors before shrugging off the facebullet.
08[16:02] <00@Siege> Asmodel refocuses on Bryant, again swiping with it's teritary limbs. While one goes wide, the other connects with an even brighter glow than before. Superheating the armor a painful touch, Asmodel retracts his hand and waits for more.
06[16:03] * Bryant_Wallace winces a bit as the eva takes a buring finger poke to the torso and screams "IS THAT ALL YOU GOT!"
06[16:10] * Sam_Shepherd yells, practically standing up in his seat as 07 leaps forward, raising its spear point-down over its head and slamming it down into the angel's hide!
08[16:11] <00@Siege> What was once just bruised angel hide has given way in some places to orange-red blood. Asmodel does not seem pleased.

06[16:21] * Bryant_Wallace seeing the spear sticking out the angel, grins... runs up to the separ and throwing everything he can into it, actually punchs the spear in deeper! getting lightly sprayed with Angel blood! "COP THIS MCMOTHERFUCKER!"
08[16:22] <00@Siege> Anther splurt of blood comes from Asmodel's headpiece.
06[16:27] * Asa_Kennedy getting excited, Asa puts his rifle on auto and fires nonchalantly at the Angel. "Eat lead!"
06[16:30] * Asa_Kennedy laughs a bit. "yeah! Just like that classic movie...rambo!"
08[16:30] <00@Siege> Asmodel is having more and more trouble staying on it's feet from the assault dropped upon it from the three Evangelions. The bullets tear through his "hat" and facial area, leaving him heavily scarred and bruised.
08[16:32] <00@Siege> With a pained motion, he brings his limbs inward and lets their tips shimmer and glow like his own AT field. This shimmer seems to snake its way through his many limbs and into his hatlike top, making it shine brightly.
08[16:33] <00@Siege> It then gurgles, dislodging the spear tip and expelling an unknown organ onto Unit 07.
08[16:42] <00@Siege> With Asmodel feeling fresher, he begins to almost Spar with Unit 06 and Bryant. A massive paddle of a limb is easily dodged, leaving it to slam into the ground. A second flurry of blows from his tertiary limbs is also dodged well enough...when finally Asmodel snaps out another one of his slightly luminescent limbs resulting in another searing flash of light and burst of heat...this time leaving Unit 06's left arm a twisted, molten wreck.
08[16:43] <00@Siege> Asmodel then calmly retracts his limbs and seems to almost stare down Bryant before hovering slightly and turning his bearing towards Asa...
06[16:43] * Bryant_Wallace had thrown the arm in the way to prevent it from hitting him in the face, Bryant feels the pain in his arm... and it's only making him more pissed off!
[16:45] <Bryant_Wallace> "I'll make you a deal Unit 06... You give it your all, and we'll both make this thing our BITCH!"
06[16:52] * Asa_Kennedy nods. "Sounds like a plan"
[16:55] <Sam_Shepherd> Seven caches the spear as it ejects from the head, jamming it down again only to have it deflected by a fllipper... But Sam just snarls in the entry plug, rearing back again and hurling the spear down at an angle right back into the wounded head, its AT field bending and shattering above it.
08[16:56] <00@Siege> The colors from the AT Field warp violently and Asmodel seems to be in a great deal of pain...
06[17:01] * Bryant_Wallace with a howl leaps up on top of it to try to pry open it's body, but is stoped by one of the flipers throwing him off, at least he's regaining feeling in his other arm now
[17:05] <Bryant_Wallace> "Damnit, am I not strong enough?
08[17:06] <00@Siege> Asmodel hover-shrugs.
06[17:09] * Asa_Kennedy shoots at the weakened spot on Asmodel's head. "Uhhh I think I've got it's attention now......"
06[17:09] * Asa_Kennedy watches in disappointment as the bullets seem to barely graze him.
08[17:10] <00@Siege> After the rounds sink in, Asmodel turns sharply towards Asa. While the entry wounds for the shots are small...it seems like Asmodel's top is "deflating". The core seems to be growing more exposed.
08[17:16] <00@Siege> Asmodel in a fury lashes out at Bryant one more time, narrowly missing him, before turning back to Asa and firing twice in his direction. One beam, very diffused and weak, strikes him in his chest but does little more than heat the armor plates.
06[17:17] * Asa_Kennedy smirks. "Why thank you. I was getting a little chilly in here."
06[17:19] * Sam_Shepherd is laughing, Unit 07 darting around the angels body and jabbing again and again into his hide, now coated in angelic gore up to its shoulders.
06[17:22] * Bryant_Wallace tries to get in under to smack it, but a fuse in his left arm triggers causing his eva's blow to come far, far to short
06[17:25] * Asa_Kennedy looks down at his rifle and reloads, over confident he fires at the Angel and is shocked when he actually misses.
08[17:35] <00@Siege> Asmodel is done playing with his would-be assassin and moves at breakneak speed to Asa's position past Bryant. Once there, a subtle but firm slash from Asmodel's limbs begins a bloody spectacle from Unit 08.
06[17:36] * Asa_Kennedy winces "You'll have to do better than that"
[17:41] <Sam_Shepherd> "You're NOT GETTING AWAY!" 07 whirls around and dashes along behind the angel. As it stops he plants his feet, sliding forward a few decameters with a rumble of twisting concrete beneath his feet, thrusting out his spear as far as he can, right through its damaged hide and with a *clink* sinks into the hard shell of its core!
08[17:43] <00@Siege> The stars had aligned, and Sam's spear slide had sunk savagely into the sullen seraph's side leaving it scorned and sad! What's left of the little red sphere is now cracked and barely holding together.
08[17:43] <00@Siege> Asmodel's warcry seems to echo from wall to wal within the entry plug.
06[17:48] * Bryant_Wallace leaps in from behing screaming "DONT TURN YOUR BACK ON ME!!!" Punching it in the core, but he lacked the force to do anything lasting to it
06[17:52] * Asa_Kennedy lifts the rifle once more. He is scorned and frustrated that this creep managed to hurt him. He channels his inner Rambo and sprays bullets at the Angel's core.
08[17:53] <00@Siege> While each shot sends the cracked sphere rocking in it's socket, twitching Asmodel's limbs, the form itself remains strong in the face of Asa's onslaught.
08[17:59] <00@Siege> Asmodel rears up and desperately tries to slash at Asa's Evangelion. A few frantic (but deep) swipes are all he can muster before frantically turning to try and flail at Bryant: a miss.
06[17:59] * Asa_Kennedy grunts. "You bastard."
06[18:05] * Sam_Shepherd pulls the spear out and jabs again, and again, and again! Not aiming for the core, but just to cause as much damage to the already wounded Angel as possible.
06[18:11] * Bryant_Wallace waits for the distraction that sam's spearing is causing the Angel, and when it least expected leaped up grabing it by the hat, and droped down on it with a collasoal downward punch into the core
08[18:14] <00@Siege> With a shatter, the core explodes in a collection of sparkles and Asmodel's top gives a noticable heave. Soon after, the core's pieces begin to spiral inwards, sucking the rest of the body in with it.
08[18:15] <00@Siege> The result is a horrible, spiraling mass of angel flesh being sucked into a small singularity at the end of Bryant's arm.
06[18:15] * Bryant_Wallace is shaking in the plug..
08[18:15] <00@Siege> When everything is inside, it disappates into stardust and the battle is done.
06[18:16] * Sam_Shepherd collapses back against the chair in his plug, whatever energy had been propelling him through the fight leaving him in an instant. The greenish glow fades out, and the plug returns to its normal color.
08[18:17] <00@Siege> Over the comms, a relieved Falconer and Kimberly affirm over comms than the Blue Angel Pattern has ceased over NERV-04, but a hustle and bustle of activity is still found in the background.
06[18:17] * Asa_Kennedy leans his head back and says a small prayer.
06[18:17] * Bryant_Wallace after catching his breath starts laughing in the plug
08[18:18] <00@Siege> "Good work you three. Gendo and his entourage took to escaping while you were engaged with the Angel. Turns out it was a pincer attack: NERV HQ was struck by their own blue angel...Remington wants you three brought in and freshened up while we try to fix up your Evangelions as best we can before moving out once more."
06[18:19] * Bryant_Wallace has to force himself to stop laughing "Yes sir, returning to the lift"
06[18:20] * Asa_Kennedy "affirmative."
06[18:21] * Bryant_Wallace a grin crosses his face "That's two down everybody, no one can ignore us now"
[18:22] <Asa_Kennedy> ".....I feel sorry for whoever has to...clean these..."
