  1. [14:25] <~Kumaton> So what else are you guys going to do in the plaza?
  2. [14:26] <Ben_Braddock> Uh
  3. [14:26] <Lucy> I finished up in the store and talked to Dr. Williams in the diner
  4. [14:26] <Bison> dunno
  5. [14:27] <Lucy> I think I should gather some more information on the surroundings to write down
  6. [14:27] <~Kumaton> Well, if you guys are done buying equipment, then there's the Atrium.
  7. [14:28] <Lucy> Before that, I'd like to see if any firearms are for sale
  8. [14:28] <Lucy> Not to buy anything. Just to browse, especially sidearms
  9. [14:29] <~Kumaton> A friendly man directs you to the store in the far corner of the Plaza, Albert-Lea A&A. The outside of the store is covered in spray-painted stenciles of different guns and ammunition calibers, though they're generic-looking enough that you can't make out what they are.
  10. [14:30] * Lucy goes inside
  11. [14:32] <~Kumaton> Inside the store are large mutated bugs strung up against the wall, and several mounted heads above them. Most of the weapons themselves are behind the counter on pegboards, though there doesn't seem to be much selection - mostly just wooden-furnitured rifles and one or two side arms. There's an old, large man in a wheelchair rolling around the store, both of his legs missing, and a pump-action shotgun strapped to the back of the chair.
  12. [14:32] <Lucy> "Hey pal. What do you have in the way of handguns?"
  13. [14:32] <~Kumaton> "Howdy," he says, turning towards you, since you're the only other person in the store.
  14. [14:35] <Ben_Braddock> Methinks I'll take a look at uh... Bad News.
  15. [14:35] <Bison> I'm just accompanying Ben
  16. [14:35] <~Kumaton> "Well, lemme see..." he rolls to the back, behind the counter, and opening a footlocker on the floor, before bringing up a small derringer and placing it on the table. "Might be the only thing someone like ya could shoot!" he laughs, ignoring the large rifle on your back.
  17. [14:37] <~Kumaton> Bison+Ben: Bad News is the only store with a functional door, with a jury-rigged neon sign above it. Inside is mostly lit by the lights from a jukebox in the corner, though it doesn't seem to be functioning, and the occasional mirco-fusion cell-powered light.
  18. [14:37] * Lucy looks at the derringer
  19. [14:38] <Lucy> "Sure. Might be good if someone rolling around underestimated me and thought I couldn't handle something bigger!"
  20. [14:38] * Lucy grins
  21. [14:39] <~Kumaton> Bad News is a bar, with most everyone standing at a counter with a thin, tattooed man with an eyebatch and jet-black hair serving the one or two people there - probably good, since it's still only about 11 in the morning.
  22. [14:39] <~Kumaton> The bar itself is made of sheet metal.
  23. [14:39] <Bison> "What is this place?", Bison asks of Ben.
  24. [14:40] <~Kumaton> Lucy: The man shakes his head. "Listen, I may be old, but I can still break your arm with my pointer-finger. I don't think you could handle anything more than this kind of .44."
  25. [14:40] <~Kumaton> [Sorry for being a bit scatterbrained right now]
  26. [14:41] <~Kumaton> There's a radio on the counter, playing the last strains of some jazz song, ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIeGrOo6JDk ) , before cutting to a jarring and unhuman voice.
  27. [14:42] <Lucy> "You think I can't take care of myself?"
  28. [14:43] <~Kumaton> "THAT WAS DEE-JANGO REIN-HARDT WITH LIMEHOUSE BLUES. I AM PAULIE, PLAYING YOUR FAVORITE TRACKS SINCE 2076! TODAY IS A WONDERFUL SPRING DAY, AND HAS BEEN 47 DEGREES FOR THE PAST [ERROR] DAYS AND [ERROR]HOURS. NOW LET'S HEAR A WONDERFUL FITTING SONG FOR THIS WONDE-W-WONDERFUL FITTING WEATHER."
  29. [14:43] <~Kumaton> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0fqG5zoGow
  30. [14:45] <Ben_Braddock> "It's a place where people can sit down and talk about or forget their problems."
  31. [14:46] * Ben_Braddock approaches the bar. "Do you got anything you sell by the bottle, friend?"
  32. [14:46] <Bison> "Can't people sit down and talk anywhere?", Bison wonders, but Ben has already left him to approach the bar.
  33. [14:47] <~Kumaton> Lucy: The man shakes his head. "Listen, girlie, this place ain't right for someone like you. You see that thing?" he points to a insect strung up on the wall, one with a thin body with a grotesquely large backside, about the size of a car's engine. "That thing can eat you up if you fall in it's trap. You don't know where it is until it's too late. It'll eat you up in one bite."
  34. [14:47] <~Kumaton> Ben: The man nods. "Ain't it too early to be drinking? I got my regulars here, but they're beyond help."
  35. [14:48] <~Kumaton> One of the men to the right of the bar chuckles.
  36. [14:48] <Lucy> "Next time I come back here, I'll bring back something to show you just what I can do out there to those bugs"
  37. [14:48] * Lucy walks out
  38. [14:49] <Lucy> All right, I think it's time to head to the Atrium
  39. [14:49] <Ben_Braddock> "Heh. I'm just introducing my tribal associate to the concept of alcohol. Figured I'd buy him a bottle and he can try it as we go along."
  40. [14:49] * Bison looks on.
  41. [14:50] <~Kumaton> "Tribal, huh?" The bartender looks around. "I've tried some of the stuff the Vikings whip up, and belive me, they're stronger than anything I have behind here...hm..."
  42. [14:51] <~Kumaton> He bends down behind the counter, then pulls up a frozen bottle of something, and puts in on the counter. "Careful with that, cold and fragile. Now, what else..."
  43. [14:52] <~Kumaton> He grabs a bottle of greenish liqour, carefully handling it, and places it next to the frozen bottle. "Volstead and Absinth. Absinth to put you out, Volstead to wake you up."
  44. [14:54] <~Kumaton> "Absinth's not cheap, though. $75 for the full bottle. I can put, like, a quarter of it in a flask for you for, uh, $20. Volstead might as well be free, so...$5 for that."
  45. [14:54] <~Kumaton> Lucy: You travel up into the core using the stairs, then walk the corner following the drawn-on signs to the Atrium.
  46. [14:55] <~Kumaton> Inside is a crowd of people, all mobbing about, with several strange smells of food, the sound of people clamoring, and the astonishing amount of people sending several mixed symbols to your brain.
  47. [14:55] <~Kumaton> [There's no map to this place because it's basically a rectangle with stairs leading up to balconies on either side]
  48. [14:57] * Lucy takes the closest set of stairs up
  49. [14:58] <Ben_Braddock> "I'll get him the flask of each. Thanks."
  50. [14:59] <~Kumaton> On the balcony is a few people on boxes, recruiting people for different expeditions into the state. "Looking for several strong men for a trip to Ponemah!" "If you want free treasure without much risk, join the Minneapolis Hiking Club!" "Join our trip to Hometown and get a chance to join the Far-Go traders!"
  51. [14:59] <~Kumaton> And so on.
  52. [14:59] <~Kumaton> Not a lot of them sound interesting.
  53. [14:59] <Lucy> Hmmm. I think I can get some more information on the surroundings by asking about these expeditions
  54. [14:59] <Ben_Braddock> He slides the tabs over and looks back at bison. "Trust me, this stuff'll probably feel like one of those spirit journeys I hear you folks go on."
  55. [15:00] <~Kumaton> "Alright, that's $25."
  56. [15:00] <Bison> "Oh? What is it?"
  57. [15:00] <~Kumaton> Which one do you want to ask?
  58. [15:00] <Lucy> I'll start by asking about Hometown
  59. [15:00] <Lucy> Going to play it cool, seeming like I'm browsing all the selections before making a choice
  60. [15:00] <Ben_Braddock> "It's alcohol. Sometimes called spirits. People drink it to get brave, or to get other people stupid. It also usually helps numb pain."
  61. [15:01] <Ben_Braddock> "You know how healing powder makes your vision kinda blurry? It's kinda like that, but you drink it."
  62. [15:01] <~Kumaton> The woman recruiting for Hometown is wearing a thick winter coat and jeans. There's not a lot of people around her, so when you stop by, she steps down and extends a hand. "Mary Williams. What makes you want to join Far-Go?"
  63. [15:02] <Bison> "Yes, I know what alcohol is. I mean, is it beer, whiskey, wine? Applejack?"
  64. [15:02] <Lucy> "My dad called it 'compulsive wanderlust'. But I want to hear more about where you guys are heading before I pull the trigger on an expedition. What's Hometown like?"
  65. [15:02] * Lucy accepts the handshake
  66. [15:03] <Bison> "Potato spirits?"
  67. [15:04] <Ben_Braddock> "... Oh. The green stuff is Absinthe. Super potent. Made from an old plant called wormwood."
  68. [15:04] <~Kumaton> "It's a trading town, mostly. It's basically like this, but open-air and...well, brighter. And more free. We're the home of Far-Go, if you've heard of them. We mostly do business in the Southwest, but that's where we started."
  69. [15:04] <Ben_Braddock> "The others just a draft beer."
  70. [15:04] <Lucy> "What do you mean by 'more free'?"
  71. [15:06] <Bison> "Ah. Yes. We make beer. Safer than water."
  72. [15:06] <~Kumaton> Mary looks around. "Well, I've heard a lot of rumors about the guy who runs this place, some guy named Paul, but he doesn't like the chem dealer here. I think her shop's Little Reno? In Hometown, we have stuff like Jet, straight from the realReno. And peyote, stuff that you can't get in the Midwest. It's like cactus fruits, but it makes you really high and good."
  73. [15:06] <~Kumaton> "Also, we have a few places where you can, uh, get busy. Paul wouldn't dream of it here."
  74. [15:07] <Ben_Braddock> "Then consider this stuff a little welcome gift for joining up with me."
  75. [15:07] * Ben_Braddock hands them over.
  76. [15:07] <Lucy> "Certainly sounds like a place with excitement. Does your route need to pass through The Twins?"
  77. [15:08] <Bison> "Thank you, but I have no gift for you.", he says, slightly embarrassed
  78. [15:08] <~Kumaton> "We just go the long way around, and skip St. Cloud, too. I'm honeslty more of a Hometown tour guide, there's not a lot of trading going on in the route itself. It's more of a...test."
  79. [15:09] <Lucy> "A test of what?"
  80. [15:10] <~Kumaton> "To see if you're ready to go more to the West. Nothing like here. Once you go to more to the Southwest, it gets hotter and dryer. Plus, to get there, we'll have to go over the Rockies."
  81. [15:11] <~Kumaton> "That is, if you even want to go to the Southwest. Far-Go does most of the trading business in the West, so there's plenty of opportunities!"
  82. [15:12] <~Kumaton> "Well, except for in California. I think there's some new group there, but I haven't been there in fifteen years, and news travels slow nowadays, so I wouldn't know.
  83. [15:12] <~Kumaton> "
  84. [15:12] <Ben_Braddock> (Actually kinda unsure where to head next within the vault)
  85. [15:13] <Lucy> "I get what you're saying. Do you know of any other routes advertising around here that cut through St. Cloud and the Twins? I want to do some comparisons and shop around, get me?"
  86. [15:13] <~Kumaton> (Atrium, probably)
  87. [15:13] <~Kumaton> "Hm. There's the Minneapolis Hiking Club, which is mostly in the Twins. Not sure about St. Cloud, I don't think anyone ever goes there."
  88. [15:14] <~Kumaton> (Not sure if I'd like for people to go out on the road without Doc Bronson, but I'm not totally against it.)
  89. [15:14] <Bison> We cam finish up business in the vault and then do on the road stuff next week
  90. [15:15] <~Kumaton> (That's fine.)
  91. [15:16] <~Kumaton> (Are you guys going to the Atrium).
  92. [15:16] <Lucy> "Thanks a lot"
  93. [15:16] <~Kumaton> ?
  94. [15:16] * Lucy gives another handshake and continues on to the Minneapolis Hiking Club
  95. [15:17] <Bison> <Yes>
  96. [15:19] <~Kumaton> The man for the Minneapolis Hiking Club is a thin man, wearing a red leather coat and a pair of ripped pants. He's standing behind a desk, with different old-world relics in front of him, including a strange-looking laser rifle and a prisitine Nuka-Cola clock, along with different papers. He smiles when he sees you, flourishing above all the different things he has to display. "Look good?"
  97. [15:19] <Ben_Braddock> (I guess we'll do that sure)
  98. [15:20] <~Kumaton> Bison: You recognize some of the smells in the atrium - roasted meat, fish, boiled coffee, but the many voices of many people and the large amount of people clustered in such a small space is new to you.
  99. [15:20] <Lucy> "It does indeed, buddy. That's a neat gun there"
  100. [15:20] <~Kumaton> Benjamin - It's something you've expected, but you still weren't ready for.
  101. [15:20] <Bison> "There are so many people", he says to Benjamin. "In such a small space. How can they all know each other?"
  102. [15:22] <~Kumaton> Lucy: "It is, isn't it?" he pulls it up, playing with the different dials and settings. "YK42B pulse rifle. Found it as-is in a gun shop on Chicago Avenue. There were plenty more there, too, all ripe for the picking."
  103. [15:22] <~Kumaton> "Are you thinking of joining are little club?"
  104. [15:23] <Ben_Braddock> "Through passing by one each other enough."
  105. [15:23] <Lucy> "I could be. Deciding to shop around before I pull the trigger on anything. What're the Twins like?"
  106. [15:25] <~Kumaton> "Well, it was hit pretty hard, not gonna lie. Full of ghouls and Snowmen. But what the Hiking Club does is live in the top floors and the roofs, cooking the food we find in the grocers and selling the supplies we pull up with Far-Go in Golden Valley. But it's all for a noble cause. Ever hear of North Star?"
  107. [15:28] <Lucy> "I haven't. Haven't heard of Snowmen either"
  108. [15:29] <~Kumaton> Ben+Bison: You wander through the Atrium, looking at all the different desks lining the walls, most of them hot plates or broken-down ovens on them and signs saying whatever they're cooking. "Catfreak Lutefisk", "Big Sausage", "Jucy Brucy", though one sticks out to you - "
  109. [15:29] <~Kumaton> "Fortune Teller"
  110. [15:29] <~Kumaton> (damn enter key)
  111. [15:30] * Bison nods. See, even here, in this place, there are those whom the gods speak to
  112. [15:30] * Bison looks at the person behind the desk. "You are a fortune teller?"
  113. [15:30] <~Kumaton> Lucy: he nods. "Well, Snowmen are weird ghouls. They're basically frozen, and they love warmth. Easy to distract with a flare, but not easy to take out, for some reason. Slow, but strong."
  114. [15:31] <~Kumaton> Bison: He nods, pulling up a pack of small, white pieces of paper with designs drawn on the back. "$7." he says, fairly gruffly.
  115. [15:31] <Lucy> "Interesting. And North Star?"
  116. [15:32] * Bison shrugs. "I have no money."
  117. [15:33] <~Kumaton> "North Star's the big daddy corporation in America. Ever hear of BlamCo? Radiation King? Big Chief? All subsidaries. They're gone now, or so we thought, but look at this." he brings up a piece of paper from the desk, a newspaper clipping, from the looks of it, with a small article on it.
  118. [15:33] <Ben_Braddock> "A fortune, huh."
  119. [15:34] <~Kumaton> The paper is an interview with someone named Geoff Perrault, saying that "In the event of a nuclear attack on the United States, North Star has already taken the necessary precautions to ensure our survival."
  120. [15:34] <~Kumaton> Bison: "Then get lost, unless you wanna sell me one of those horns you have."
  121. [15:35] <Lucy> "Necessary precautions...like a Vault kind of thing?"
  122. [15:37] * Bison snorts. "Then I will get lost. It may be you do not even know how to speak to spirits."
  123. [15:37] <~Kumaton> Lucy: The man excitedly nods. "That's what we're thinking, but we don't know exactly what it is. But we're on the track to know. You see, North Star has their HQ in the middle of Minneapolis, Downtown West. So we can't just go around, like a lot of people have 'suggested'. But if we get there, and we're close, then we can get into their mainframe and see exactly what they have. It might be the key to survival, it might be a cache of weapons, it might be...well, it could be anything!"
  124. [15:38] <~Kumaton> [Gonna get up and stretch my legs for a few seconds, BRB]
  125. [15:40] <Lucy> "That sounds like one hell of an adventure, buddy. Do you have people all ready to go, or are you trying to get a whole group together from scratch?"
  126. [15:42] <~Kumaton> Lucy: "Well, we're always looking for more people. Got a little less than a dozen at our little base camp, so we're going to need more to make sure we get to the HQ. Doesn't mean it's dangerous, though. Just cold."
  127. [15:42] <Lucy> "I've got some people I was going to travel out of here with. I can let them know about this and see what they think of your plan"
  128. [15:43] <~Kumaton> "Who do you have? We have a lot of niches to fill. A medic would be nice."
  129. [15:45] <Lucy> "I've got a radio host with some kind of floating robot that he can talk to, a tribal, and a doctor. A really big doctor. I'm a medic myself, did a year in Springfield down south assisting at their clinic."
  130. [15:47] <~Kumaton> "That's great! We'll be looking forward to seeing you guys there, then. Well, I won't, since I won't be there, but the guys up...well, you know what I mean. Just say Henry recruited you when you get up there, and head in through Edina. Then go up to the Hightower Hotel at the Minneapolis city limits."
  131. [15:48] <~Kumaton> Ben: A man walks up to you, with a bag full of jingly metal inside. "Is the robot thing for sale?"
  132. [15:49] <~Kumaton> ASH:LE : [distressed beeping]
  133. [15:49] <Ben_Braddock> "I'd rather /not/ part with Ashley, sorry friend."
  134. [15:49] <~Kumaton> "Why not? It's just a hunk of junk. Might be good for scrap."
  135. [15:49] <Lucy> "Hightower Hotel, through Edina. Sounds good. Hopefully we can help you out!"
  136. [15:49] <~Kumaton> ASH:LE : [really distressed beeping]
  137. [15:49] * Lucy walks away and looks for Ben and Bison
  138. [15:50] <Bison> "The machine is a creation of the ancestors. To sell it would be to disrepect them.", Bison explains to the man
  139. [15:51] <Ben_Braddock> "It's not a hunk of junk. It's my navigator."
  140. [15:51] <~Kumaton> "So it has navigation software in it? Then it might be useful after all. Seriously, what are you selling it for? I got $1000 here."
  141. [15:52] * Lucy walks up next to Ben (the floating robot is easy to find in a crowd)
  142. [15:52] <~Kumaton> [also, journal updated]
  143. [15:53] <Lucy> "Ben, you seem like an agitated little radio host. What's up?"
  144. [15:53] <Ben_Braddock> "Not. For. Sale. Not to mention, can't you hear? It doesn't /want/ to go with you."
  145. [15:54] <~Kumaton> "Fine, then." The man opens up his jacket a little bit, trying to subtly show off a knife in his belt, though he might as well be pointing to it. "What do you want for it?"
  146. [15:55] <~Kumaton> [don't roll initiative yet, or hopefully at all]
  147. [15:55] <Bison> "How much do you want for the knife? It's not bad quality."
  148. [15:55] <Lucy> (We're carrying our weapons, right? Like I still have my knife on me?)
  149. [15:55] <~Kumaton> [Yeah]
  150. [15:56] <Bison> "Although mine is nicer, I think.", he says, pointing to his.
  151. [15:56] * Lucy walks away about 5 yards
  152. [15:56] <Ben_Braddock> "Hey, man, are you /really/ going to start a fight in here over junk? Let's be civil here."
  153. [15:56] <Lucy> (I'm going to slip into the crowd, then double back and come in behind the guy after he loses sight of me)
  154. [15:57] <Ben_Braddock> (Should I roll Diplomacy?)
  155. [15:57] <~Kumaton> [Go ahead]
  156. [15:57] <Ben_Braddock> !roll 3d6
  157. [15:57] <Krysmbot> Ben_Braddock, 5 = 5
  158. [15:57] <Ben_Braddock> (My Diplomacy is a 14. That easily passes.)
  159. [15:58] <~Kumaton> [Oh, yeah, that's a crit, if I remember correctly]
  160. [15:58] * Lucy comes up behind the man, staying silent and without a weapon drawn
  161. [15:58] <Lucy> (I'm going to be one hex away in combat terms, just in case)
  162. [15:58] <~Kumaton> "Oh, uh, sorry. I didn't realize it had that much sentimental value to you." he says, rolling his eyes, and turns to walk away.
  163. [15:59] * Lucy steps away and lets him pass
  164. [15:59] <~Kumaton> The man bumps into you, though you're pretty sure he's doing it intentionally.
  165. [16:00] <Bison> "Is it wise to let him go? Perhaps he will have friends.", Bison mutters to Ben
  166. [16:00] <Lucy> "I don't think he's too willing to stab anyone in the crowd, especially not in a place as rigid as this one"
  167. [16:01] <Ben_Braddock> "If he does, we'll deal with it then. I think we can handle it."
  168. [16:01] <Bison> "Alright."
  169. [16:01] <Ben_Braddock> "... Seriously, though. Folks can just be so rude these days, huh Ashley?"
  170. [16:02] <~Kumaton> ASH:LE [i'm-sure-you-already-know beeping]
  171. [16:02] <Lucy> "Well, I've got some news on a new adventure if you guys want to hear it"
  172. [16:03] <Bison> "What would that be?"
  173. [16:04] <Lucy> "There's this group, the Minneapolis Hiking Club. They go adventuring in the Twins to gather leftover pre-war supplies, from food to energy weapons"
  174. [16:05] <Lucy> "Pre-war company, North Star, made an interview about how they've 'made the necessary preparations' for a nuclear war. Like these Vaults"
  175. [16:06] <Lucy> "The Hiking Club was looking for people to help them make the journey to downtown Minneapolis and break into the North Star HQ. Get into their mainframe and figure out what treasures North Star was hiding"
  176. [16:07] <Ben_Braddock> "Hm. Well, it's probably on my list of places to go, and I've got to see about getting medicinal supplies as well. Seems like a potential plan. A full-blown caravan.."
  177. [16:08] <Bison> "How many people are in the group?"
  178. [16:08] <Lucy> "They've got a bit under a dozen people in Minneapolis so far waiting for a bigger group to make the trip. He said you go through Edina to the Hightower Hotel just within the Minneapolis city limits, and tell them Henry sent us"
  179. [16:09] <Lucy> "Something like 90 miles north of here?"
  180. [16:12] <Bison> "So we should do that, then?
  181. [16:13] <Lucy> "If we end up there, I say yes. He did tell me about Snowmen, though. Frozen ghouls, tougher and slower but attracted to heat. So we'll probably want to stock up on heat sources like flares before we head into the Twins"
  182. [16:14] <Ben_Braddock> "A flare gun, maybe? Ashley, I want to say we saw one back downstairs. Let's see if it's still down there. We'll be right back."
  183. [16:14] <Ben_Braddock> (We never did but for RP's sake)
  184. [16:14] <~Kumaton> (That works)
  185. [16:15] <Ben_Braddock> Let's go down and see where that'd be. And what they want for it.
  186. [16:15] <~Kumaton> (Do you just want to skip to the gun store in the plaza?)
  187. [16:16] <Lucy> (Yeah, let's check it out)
  188. [16:16] <Ben_Braddock> (I assumed it was a gun store or general goods, yeah)
  189. [16:16] <~Kumaton> The gun store owner scoffs when he sees Lucy, but he relaxes a bit when Bison and Ben walk in alongside her. "Now, what do you fine gentlemen - and lady - want today?"
  190. [16:20] * Ben_Braddock is going to eye what he at least thinks is a flare gun among the displays. "I saw this when I passed by a bit earlier. Looked like a flare gun. And now I've reason to be packing one."
  191. [16:23] <~Kumaton> "Huh, alright." he grabs the flare gun off of the board behind them. It's mostly made out of dirty brass, with a long metal cylinder. "I think it's a Remington MK III. Hm...$150 for it."
  192. [16:24] <Ben_Braddock> "And how many flares can I get with that? I'm willing to spend within the ballpark of 200-220 total."
  193. [16:25] <~Kumaton> "Don't think I have any flares left over for it. Got a few road ones, though. Maybe a dozen, $3 each."
  194. [16:26] <Ben_Braddock> "I'll get 5 of em, sure. May as well, just in case the old stories are true."
  195. [16:26] <~Kumaton> "Old stories? I've lived here most of my life, and I...oh, going Snowmen hunting?"
  196. [16:27] <Ben_Braddock> As he begins producing the money, he pipes up again. "Yeah. That and those old tales of people finding real ornery critters and getting saved by throwing a flare in its face."
  197. [16:28] <~Kumaton> "Might help with Catfreaks, not much with NuMoose or bugs. $165."
  198. [16:28] <Bison> "What are Catfreaks?"
  199. [16:29] <~Kumaton> He points to a mounted head, one that looks like a big catfish head. "Bout as big as a supermutant, with arms and legs like one, too. That's why we call them freaks."
  200. [16:30] <Bison> "Any tips on fighting some of the animals we'll meet out there?"
  201. [16:30] <Ben_Braddock> He slides the amount forward. "Yeah. Usually in frozen water. Or rather, under it."
  202. [16:30] <~Kumaton> "Too many to give you tips, otherwise we'd be here until midnight. The bugs around here are pretty fragile, but the mammals...ho boy."
  203. [16:31] <Bison> "Bad?"
  204. [16:32] <Bison> "What do we run from, let me put that question to you?"
  205. [16:33] <~Kumaton> "NuMoose. No question. Big fuckers with melty skin and eight legs. Can gore a man straight through."
  206. [16:33] <~Kumaton> "Don't run, they'll catch up. Shooting them just makes them angry."
  207. [16:34] <~Kumaton> "Catfreaks are pretty fragile, just strong. Montauks are just mischeivious, but fast. Been a long time since I've hunted the rest of the ones out there."
  208. [16:35] <Bison> "So if we can't shoot Numoose, and can't run, is all we can do pray?"
  209. [16:35] <Ben_Braddock> "Only success stories I've heard about NuMoose are tribals using big slabs of metal to block the horns while everyone else fills it with holes. Or just blowing it's head off without it knowing you're there."
  210. [16:35] <~Kumaton> "Yep. Sometimes they lose interest. Not often."
  211. [16:35] <Ben_Braddock> "Although good luck sneaking up on one."
  212. [16:35] <~Kumaton> "Those are good, too. Not often you have a group of people around to do that, too."
  213. [16:35] <~Kumaton> [BRB]
  214. [16:39] <~Kumaton> [Back]
  215. [16:40] <Lucy> "The hell's a Montauk?"
  216. [16:41] <~Kumaton> "Little raccoon things. They don't do much other than steal food and shiny things. Good eating."
  217. [16:41] <Ben_Braddock> "Never tried it, but heard good things."
  218. [16:43] <~Kumaton> "Pretty much the only good meat you can get around here other than Brahmin. Get used to it."
  219. [16:43] <Lucy> "You think we should get Doc and get ready to go yet?"
  220. [16:44] <Ben_Braddock> "I think we're about ready, yeah."
  221. [16:44] <Lucy> "All right. Let's tell him the good news"
