- Noticeable version differences:
- NTSC-J PS1: Cutscenes before races, character dialog, 3 announcer type characters
- PAL PS1: Cutscenes, dialog, and announcers removed, Rocket Wing lasts 60 seconds instead of 50, significantly slower than other versions
- NTSC-U GC (XC): Similar to the PAL version except Rocket Wing is 50 seconds and load screens are much, much faster
- NTSC-U PS2 (XC): I have not played this version, I would assume it's nearly identical to GC
- Gameplay seems virtually identical across platforms as far as I can tell
- GC seems to be the fastest version for RTA
- Powerups - I don't know if they have actual names
- 3x - Next pickup is 3 times more powerful/longer
- 10 up - adds 10 to your opponent's points
- Red X thing - Prevents your opponent from using their special ability
- Mine in grass - Turns jobbers into mines
- Purple cloud thing - Slows down everyone but the character that activates it
- Fan - Speeds you up to near max speed and gives you a barrier
- Sparky top - Remote controlled mine
- Other unorganized thoughts
- Breaking is useless, either don't accelerate or turn earlier
- Most of the characters seem the same in the default cars
- Quick Man has a lot of potential but is very hard to handle, might be better with Roll's wing or Proto Man's tires
- Big enemies take 3 lemons to kill
- Don't bother shooting lemons at other racers
- Napalm Man's full charged ability is shit
- Spring Man's ability could be cool since it knocks you around, but it's hard to control
- Tapping the direction correctly instead of holding will prevent you from entering a drift state and from slipping on ice
- Accelerating on the first light gives a boost at the start
- Rocket Wing makes the start boost a lot easier
- Pressing down 3 times discards a weapon
- I think you only have to win 8 races to race against Bass and Wily instead of beating every character once, but I haven't actually checked this - If you can you would have to do more than 8 races, not worth it
- Bass is a dick
- There is no real speedtech
- This is a fun speedgame
- ILs are fun
- Run this
- At least play it casually, it's really not that bad after you get a feel for cornering
- What the HECK, the Japanese version is so freaking cool
- Like seriously, it has commentators and a little cutscene before a race
- It's a shame that it's also a lot slower because of X Collection loads though
- It's not actually a shame, the PS1 load screens are way too freaking long
