Add a featured image to your gallery in the category Galleries.

Create a new gallery, place it in the category Galleries, add a featured image and it will show on your homepage.

I have selected the category Galleries from editing the section called Church View and in gallery mode selecting the category Galleries : http://snag.gy/BNcMo.jpg
