Emmett + Ben, Nov 10

Nov 10 01:46:45 <Knave>	Emmett had tried dragging a brush through his hair, and straightening his clothing, to no avail. The kind of askewness that affected him now was more of an aura than actual untidiness. After an unreasonable amount of time spent perfecting the device, mechanically and aesthetically, it was ready. The way he walked to Ben's door clutching it to his chest made it seem like he was constantly worried about someone emerging from a corner to break or steal his work. A twitch of relief crosses his face as he arrives at Ben's door and knocks on it rapidly.
Nov 10 01:48:34 <DarnellJermaine>	A few moments pass before the moving and squealing of metal can be heard, followed by a series of loud thumps as Ben approaches the door, careful to open it slowly so as not to tear it off. A smile spreads on his gray, metallic face when he sees his visitor. "Good to see you Emmett" his voice roars, filling the whole dorm.
Nov 10 01:52:26 <Knave>	Emmett nods, and produces the device from its place clutches to his chest. A kind of manic intensity overcomes him as all attempts to come across as a professional fail him. "Behold!" He lifts up the fine silvery collar, halfway between the height of his head and Ben's, "Vibrational density alteration technology, rendered portable and applied." The device mostly appears to be a simple metal band, hinged at the back, sized perfectly to fit Ben's neck, with a circular panel at the front centre, concealed inside which are plates which look designed to move.
Nov 10 01:54:34 <DarnellJermaine>	Ben smiles in a noticeable manner. "This-" he stops himself, donning the new device around his neck first. It felt sort of /right/ in it's place, like it belonged there. "This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me" sure enough, his voice was...normal volume! Now that people could listen to his voice without feeling deafened or covering their ears, it was easier to hear what he actually sounded like. He had an incredibly deep and rich voice now, almost like a wise old man.
Nov 10 01:57:26 <Knave>	The sensation of the collar working is oddly pleasant. "If I anticipate correctly, there may be an adjustment period before you fully master the device," Emmett adjusts his goggles, "But once you are used to it, speaking and emoting with a full range should become instinctive." Emmett folds his hands behind his back and admires his handiwork from behind his goggles, "I trust the fit is comfortable?"
Nov 10 02:07:21 <DarnellJermaine>	For now, Ben can only speak in the monotone version of his new, normal voice. He'd have to get use to the range and emoting part. "Yes...it fits perfectly. I can not thank you enough, Emmett. You have brought me joy beyond compare. Now I can finally speak freely with my friends and the infirmary staff"
Nov 10 02:09:49 <Knave>	Emmett holds up a hand, "Please, do not thank me. I am happy to help others in any way I can, and I am heartened that you so enjoy my work." Emmett smiles softly and oddly, evidently pleased with a job well done/
Nov 10 02:11:05 <DarnellJermaine>	"I'm not sure how you did it- not to brag, but I am a learned man myself. This is... remarkable. Truly, you're a genius. You'll have to explain it to me sometime, if you don't mind. For now though, I'd like to get used to this"
Nov 10 02:14:53 <Knave>	"Certainly, certainly." Emmett nods, not commenting on the flattery. He gestures to one side, "Would you like me to leave you to it, or do you require someone to talk to?"
Nov 10 02:16:55 <DarnellJermaine>	Ben just smiles, this time it looks a bit more expressive, as he pulls in Emmett for a hug, but considering their sizes, he kinda just puts one arm around Emmett's back and pulls him towards his leg. His skin felt cold and metallic. "I'll learn on my own. I'd love to stay in contact though- you've been a good friend to me, Emmett"
Nov 10 02:20:09 <Knave>	"Ahm, yes." Emmett says vaguely, slightly embarassed, when he comes out from Ben's arm. Certainly he had nothing against Ben, but he was giving Emmett a lot of credit, and it made him feel odd. "Well," He said distractedly, producing a piece of paper and a pen and scribbling in the palm of his hand, "This is my phone number. Do feel free to... get in touch, if you wish to speak with me, or if the collar gives you any problems, yes?" He hands the slip to Ben.
Nov 10 02:27:52 <DarnellJermaine>	Ben nods his head, which doesn't creak this time! "I'll see you later, Emmett. Goodbye" one last smile as he goes back into his room and closes the door
Nov 10 02:29:42 <Knave>	Emmett smiles to himself as he returns to his workshop. Bedroom. Same difference. A satisfied customer, and a job well done. And perhaps a friend. Quite a fine day.
