- The new "official mark" - an orange-and-blue Tiger coming out through an Old English "D," growling and with its claws bared - replaces the Tiger-head-in-a-circle logo, which was deemed unpopular. The new logo was unveiled in a press conference Tuesday at the Fox Theatre, and merchandise featuring the new logo was modeled in an upbeat fashion show.
- The press conference and fashion show presentation was very glitzy and featured Tiger owners [Mike Ilitch] and Marian Ilitch, Tiger front office executives, Little Caesars Pizza executives and Tiger players past (Willie Horton, Dave Bergman and Earl Wilson) and present (Alan Trammell and Cecil Fielder).
- Trammell and Fielder modeled caps with the logo - blue with an orange bill - that will become part of the Tiger road uniforms, which will be unveiled in February.
