- Aeolus (Suicune) @ Wacan Berry / Lum Berry / Sitrus Berry
- Ability: Pressure
- Nature: Modest
- EVs: 252 SpA / 140 Spe / 116 HP
- -Hydro Pump
- -Ice Beam
- -Tailwind
- -Protect
- Synergy:
- Electric: Breloom (though if Wacan Berry is used it can survive a
- hit)
- Grass: Breloom, Heracross, Heatran, Metagross
- Lum Berry is to stop evil Smeargles. Wacan berry could be used to
- survive Meganectric and set up Tailwind. Sitrus Berry to increase
- Aeolus's survivability because it is very bulky anyway
- Fun Guy (Breloom) @ Focus Sash
- Ability: Technician
- Nature: Jolly
- EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 SDef
- -Mach Punch / Force Palm
- -Bullet Seed
- -Spore
- -Protect
- Spore stuff such as TR users and Smeargle and also Mach Punch them.
- Force Palm has more power and the para chance, but doesn't have
- priority (Tailwind won't be set up every battle)
- Synergy:
- Flying: Metagross, Zapdos
- Fire: Chandelure, Suicune
- Psychic: Metagross
- Fairy: Metagross, Chandelure
- Ice: Metagross, Suicune, Heatran
- Poison: Metagross, Heatran
- Extreme 4MSS (Metagross) @ Metagrossite
- Ability: Clear Body -> Tough Claws
- Nature: Jolly
- EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- -Iron Head
- -Zen Headbutt
- -Ice Punch
- -Protect
- Oh, how Metagross suffers from 4MSS. But it is my answer to Mega
- Kangaskhan. EVs are to outspeed Garchomp and tie with +Speed base
- 110s such as Latios. Iron Head is used because of the 30% chance to
- Flinch, and I don't want to test my luck with Meteor Miss. Zen
- Headbutt for secondary STAB. Ice Punch to hit dragons (Particularly
- MegaMence and Chomp) who would otherwise wreck my team. Protect is,
- well, Protect. I wish I could run Iron Head/Zen
- Headbutt/Earthquake/Ice Punch/Bullet Punch/Hammer Arm/Protect.
- Possible alternative:
- /*
- * Mawile @ Mawilite
- * Ability: Intimidate -> Huge Power
- * Nature: Adamant
- * EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- * -Play Rough
- * -Iron Head
- * -Sucker Punch
- * -Protect
- * Mega Mawile hits even harder than Mega Metagross (145 Atk + 1.33x
- * boost vs. 105 Atk + 2.0x boost), and packs Intimidate. However,
- * it is much slower, meaning it will not function well outside of
- * Tailwind.
- Synergy:
- Fire: Heatran, Suicune
- Ground: Breloom, Zapdos, Heracross
- Dark: Heracross, Breloom
- Ghost: Umm...
- Zappy Bird (Zapdos) @ Yache Berry
- Ability: Pressure
- Nature: Naive
- EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- -Thunderbolt
- -Heat Wave
- -Tailwind
- -Protect
- Secondary Tailwind setter. Heat Wave to deal with Mega Scizor and
- Mega Mawile.
- Considering replacing Zappy Bird with Thundurus-I, who has the same
- SpA, is slightly faster, and gets Prankster Taunt. However, Thundo-I
- doesn't get Tailwind, which the team is obviously built around.
- Thundo-I's only method of speed control is Electroweb, which
- Electric-immune Pokemon (Ground-types, Volt
- Absorb/Lightningrod/Motor Drive mons) don't care about.
- Synergy:
- Rock: Metagross, Breloom
- Ice: Metagross, Suicune, Heatran (though Yache Berry lets it survive
- an Ice hit)
- /*
- * Thundurus-Incarnate @ Mental Herb / Yache Berry / Rocky Helmet
- * Ability: Prankster
- * Nature: Bold / Modest
- * EVs: 252 SAtk / 40? Spe / rest in HP
- * -Thunderbolt
- * -Taunt
- * -Electroweb / HP Ice / Thunder Wave
- * -Protect
- * Thundo-I could replace Zappy Bird. He doesn't get Tailwind, but
- he gets Prankster Taunt, which is useful for shutting down
- Whimsicott, Liepard, Gengar, Trick Room
- * users, et cetera. Electroweb is inferior to other speed control
- methods (most notably Icy Wind), but it's the most reliable one
- Thundurus gets (although Thunder
- * wave is another option). HP Ice isn't really needed because the
- main things it would be used for are Garchomp and Salamence, both of
- which Metagross and Suicune
- * kill.
- *
- * Synergy:
- * Rock: Metagross, Breloom
- * Ice: Metagross, Suicune, Heatran
- *
- * OR
- *
- *
- * Tornadus-Incarnate @ Yache Berry / Rocky Helmet
- * Ability: Prankster
- * Nature: Bold / Modest
- * EVs: 252 SAtk / Speed and HP investment
- * -Taunt
- * -Tailwind
- * -Air Slash? / Hurricane / some Special STAB
- * -Protect
- * Oh my Arceus if Tornadus gets Air Slash he would be perfect...
- although I would have to trade for it since it's OR exclusive.
- Tornadus-I is more defensive than * Thundo, but it would still work
- very well. It gets Prankster Taunt AND Prankster Tailwind, and it
- hits decently hard. But if he doesn't get Air Slash, he has to *
- rely on Hurricane, which has 70% Accuracy out of rain (which I don't
- run). The only thing stopping me from keeping Zappy Bird is the 0
- Def IV and Naive nature, so I * may have to restart X to get
- Zapdos. I don't know...
- *
- * Synergy:
- * Rock: Metagross, Breloom
- * Ice: Metagross, Suicune, Heatran
- * Electric: Breloom

- Heracross @ Flame Orb
- Ability: Guts
- Nature: Adamant
- EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- -Megahorn
- -Close Combat
- -Knock Off / Rock Slide
- -Protect
- Flame Orb for guts, Life Orb for Moxie. A very heavy hitter all
- around.
- Role: OHKOing Mega Kangaskhan, just generally hitting things hard.
- Synergy:
- Flying: Metagross, Zapdos
- Fire: Heatran, Suicune
- Psychic: Metagross
- Fairy: Metagross, Chandelure
- Heatran @ Life Orb / Air Balloon
- Ability: Flash Fire
- Nature: Modest
- EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 HP
- -Heat Wave
- -Earth Power
- -Will-o-wisp
- -Protect
- The replacement for Chandy because I needed a Special Ground-type
- attacker. (Nidoking is the other option). Earth Power puts a dent in
- 'lectric types even without STAB. Air Balloon to avoid EQ, or LO to
- hit harder while Tailwind is up. WoW to cripple MegaKanga, MMawile,
- Physical MegaMence, etc.
- Synergy:
- Water: Breloom, Suicune
- Fighting: Heracross, Zapdos
- Ground: Heracross, Breloom, Zapdos (although Air Balloon provides
- temp. immunity)
- Threats:
- -Lando-T: Suicune. Just... Suicune.
- -Cress: Chandy and Metagross.
- -Hitmontop: Lead with Metagross to block Intimidate, and then
- Megavolve and Zen Headbutt to kill it.
- -Mega Kanga: Mega Metagross outside of Tailwind, Hera and Breloom in
- Tailwind. Spore it if possible. Breloom + Tailwind setter is very
- risky. Send out Metagross + Suicune, protect w/ Suicune and Iron
- Head w/ Meta turn 1, Tailwind turn 2.
- -Mega Mawile: Chandelure; WoW it and then Heat Wave.
- -Megazard Y: Zappy Bird, Heracross (Tailwind only!)
- -Aegislash: Spore it (hits through KS) and then Heracross and
- Chandy.
- -Rotom-W: Breloom (watch out for WoW) and Guts Heracross.
- -Rotom-H: Suicune (Watch out for Electric attacks).
- -Mamoswine: Breloom tanks Ice Shard and smacks or Spores it. Suicune
- tanks EQ (and outspeeds) and OHKOs with Hydro Pump. Heracross
- smashes it with CC. Chandy is NOT a good counter because of EQ and
- Thick Fat.
- -TTar: Breloom OHKOs, but watch out for Scarf Ice Beam. Metagross is
- a good answer if already Megavolved; if Tailwind is up then Breloom,
- Metagross, and Heracross all kill it.
- -Mega Gengar: Dangerous. Best strat is to Spore it and then exploit
- its bad defenses. Guts Hera checks non-Psychic variants and hits
- with Knock Off.
- -Mega Venusaur: Megagross (Beware Sleep Powder).
- -Garchomp: Ice Beam Suicune. It will likely Protect, so use that to
- set up Tailwind. If it doesn't, you still set up Tailwind and can
- Ice Beam the next turn.
- -Mega Salamence: Extremely dangerous. Can run many sets (unlike Mega
- Kanga who always runs Return/PuP/Sucker Punch/Fake Out). Suicune can
- hit with Ice Beam if Tailwind is up. Breloom can Spore it if
- Tailwind is up. Megagross can live Return and damage with Meteor
- Mash (Ice Punch might be worth it just for MegaMence). Basically, gg
- if Tailwind is not up.
- -Opposing Mega Metagross: Spore with Breloom, or Heat Wave w/
- Heatran.
- -Mega Altaria: If it lacks EQ, Metagross beats it. Suicune beats it
- in Tailwind.
- -Smogon Bird (Talonflame): Protect with Fun Guy, and Hydro Pump it.
- Set up Tailwind the next turn. OR lead with Aeolus + Zappy Bird.
- Double Tailwind users to make them guess. Tailwind w/ Aeolus, TBolt
- w/ Zappy Bird.
- -Mega Manectric and electric-types in general: Heatran has a 62.5%
- chance to OHKO with Air Balloon (guaranteed w/ LO) but is outsped
- outside Tailwind
- -Lanturn: Heatran Earth Power puts a huge dent in it; Max SpA
- Lanturn Hydro Pump never OHKOs assuming no LO, Specs, etc.
- -Malamar: MEGAHORN ALL DAY
- -Ferrothorn: Fun Guy hits for SE (beware Iron Barbs + Rocky Helmet)
- and is immune to Leech Seed. Scaldera and Zappy Bird both incinerate
- it with Heat Wave. The Beatle CCs it, but can only OHKO if Guts is
- active.
- -TerraCott: Lead with Chandy/Metagross and Fun Guy. Damage
- Whimsicott heavily and Spore Terrakion.
- -Trick Room (TR setter + slow mons): Lead with Fun Guy and
- Metagross/Heracross. Spore the TR user, slam the other mon.
- -Obvious Fake Out lead: Double team the other Pokemon. If it is
- blatantly obvious which mon will be Faked Out (ex. Zappy Bird + 4MSS
- vs. Talonflame and Kanga) have the Fake Out target Protect.
- -Opposing Tailwind: Double team the Tailwind setter. Don't attack
- the other mon (it will Protect).
- -Rain: Don't use Chandy. Lead with Aeolus + Fun Guy. Abuse rain with
- Hydro Pump.
- -Gengar, along with Pranksters: Ignore Gengar, because it will
- Protect turn 1. DO NOT USE NONDAMAGING MOVES; or else you will get
- Encored to death.
- -Khan Artist: Lead with Aeolus + The Beatle. Double Protect turn 1
- to activate Flame Orb and cancel Fake Out. Turn 2 set up Tailwind w/
- Aeolus and Close Combat Kanga.
- Moves to watch out for:
- Encore.
- Almost Always:
- -Raichu
- -Liepard
- -Jumpluff
- -Whimsicott
- -Volbeat
- -Illumise
- Common:
- -Mega Lopunny
- -Politoed
- -Infernape
- Uncommon:
- -Hawlucha
- -(Mega) Gardevoir
- Strategy: Do not Tailwind or Protect against Prankster Encore users;
- do not Protect against non-Pranksters (although Tailwind is fine).
- Since I don't run Taunt, prioritize killing/Spore-ing potential
- Encore users.
- Swagger.
- Pretty much everything can learn it, making it unpredictable.
- Notable users are:
- -Klefki (either runs Screens or SwagPlay)
- -Liepard
- -Politoed (rare)
- -Tornadus-I (almost always)
- -Thundurus-I (almost always)
- -Meowstic-M (dammit Tsukasa)
- -Anything with Prankster
- How to beat Moody Smeargle: (assuming Dark Void + 3 of Tailwind,
- King's Shield, Spiky Shield, Transform, Baton Pass, Sheer Cold)
- -Skill Swap to steal Moody
- -Prankster Taunt or Safeguard
- -Fun Guy Bullet Seed in Tailwind
- 252+ Atk Guts Heracross Close Combat vs. +6 252 HP / 4 Def Smeargle:
- 348-410 (110.8 - 130.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
- -Wide Guard
