  1. Taiko no Tatsujin V Version for Playstation Vita
  2. Speedrun FAQ
  3.
  4. The main focus of the speedrun in V Version is a mode called Donder Quest. It is primarily an RPG which does have a beginning and an ending. There are actually a lot of rhythm games with a mode similar to this for unlocking songs, like a few other Taiko games and some Pop'n Music games, but Donder Quest has one VERY IMPORTANT THING that these do not have: You can end the song early.
  5.
  6. Ending the songs early is done in a few ways, depending on the quest chosen:
  7. 1) Simply killing the enemy
  8. 2) Reduce the enemy's life to 50% or less
  9. 3) Scoring more than X amount of points
  10. 4) Hitting X amount of notes
  11. 5) Hitting X amount of Perfect notes
  12. 6) Not missing X amount of notes
  13. (Accuracy matters for all of these. Combo only matters for the first three.)
  14.
  15. When any of these requirements are met in the middle of a song, the song instantly ends and the quest completes. #6 however has to be played to the end of the song and I try to avoid those. #2 does this as well unless you manage to actually kill the enemy.
  16.
  17. ######## Equipment: ########
  18. Donder Quest has a fairly decent equipment system which helps with dealing damage / preventing damage. In the speedrun, I focus everything on damaging the enemy, I have no need for HP / armor items or anything that helps me take less damage. I am mainly looking for attack and speed bonuses on items. This is the main reason why I am playing on chukara (δΈθΎ›) mode, or easy mode, so I can focus on just doing the most amount of damage. Everything scales up with the 2 harder difficulties, so it's pretty much up to you if you want to play harder songs or not.
  19.
  20. You can equip a weapon, armor, two accessories called Supports, a Deathblow item which appears as a note in a quest and activates when that special note is hit, and a Costume. All of these items can have special attributes such as adding / removing stats like HP/attack/defense/speed/crit/luck and elemental damage, as well as many other misc. things (example, reducing damage taken from bombs).
  21.
  22. Elemental damage is still something I am clueless about. There are 5 elements (fire, water, grass, light, dark) and several pieces of equipment either let you attack using that element or defend against it. For strength/weaknesses it's the obvious fire beats grass, grass beats water, water beats fire, and light beats dark and vice versa. My main issue is trying to figure out what element an enemy is, because as far as I know it isn't listed anywhere.
  23.
  24. Weapons have an attack rating and a speed rating. The higher the attack, the slower the weapon. You have to choose either a fast weak weapon, a slow strong weapon, or a nice balanced weapon. Currently, I am trying to figure out the best combination of speed versus attack.
  25.
  26. Speed of weapon on left, # of Perfect hits to attack on right
  27. SS = 8, S = 10, A = 12, B = 14, C = 17, D = 22, E = 25, F = 33, G = 47
  28. 14 perfect hits with absolutely no gear on to attack (this is B speed). Accuracy DOES affect these numbers but I am unsure as to how much. Just play well.
  29.
  30. For armor, supports, and deathblows, I am just looking for the ones that help most for doing more damage or adding more speed to my attacks, whatever can help me end the songs faster.
  31.
  32. Equipment is acquired through completing quests, and the items are NOT a 100% drop. There are plenty of rare drops, and even the normal drops are not 100%. I will most likely have to replay quests to get a certain item I require. The luck stat can help increase drop rate.
  33.
  34. ######## Progression: ########
  35. Completing a quest will give you Fame (basically EXP). Once the bar fills it unlocks the boss of whatever mission you are on (there are 10 missions in Donder Quest, each with ~10 quests within). You can still gain Fame even if your Fame bar is maxed, it will be added to your next level after you beat the boss. You don't have to do every quest in a mission, you can pick and choose, however once you beat a quest, the Fame you gain from it will be halved. I use a combination of avoiding the longest quests and farming the fastest quests.
