1a. You're also looking at people optimizing their play. Of course you saw bigger jumps in dps, you're comparing clear-> farm dps ON TOP of obtaining new gear. An i230 (xth clear) would obviously see bigger jumps than an i240 (xxth clear).  And to begin with, you took things out of the field by the start by telling her and by proxy her group, that they're wasting their time doing speedkills.
Who knows if they were bad before you got there. It's your word against seven, and at the point of time there's no way proving it.

You're ignoring the fact that people start at different points. If you start at say, 20th percentile you have A LOT of room for improvement. The gap between players that know how to hit buttons and those that don't covers nearly 70% of fflogs. Afterwards, you begin optimization.
And on top of that, gear makes a huge difference. My dps increased by what, 500? by gear alone and only slight movement in terms of percentiles.
