  1. Hello, /vp/. I work for Game Freak and am part of a team responsible for coordinating the release of Pokemon X and Y news internationally. This month is going to be another huge news month for the games, and I would like to give you all a sneak preview. I have prepared a list of information to be covered both in CoroCoro and on the official site this month (as well as something big from next month's issue). However, instead of just listing everything I have, I figured I would make things interesting. I want to know what YOU want to know about most. I will give the full details at a later point, but first I'm curious to hear what information you're most anxious to learn. First off though, I want to make it clear that I do not have information on the following:
  2.
  3. >starter evolutions (people are still going to ask, I know it)
  4. >major story details (all I have are a few bits and pieces related to various characters)
  5. >Xerneas and Yveltal's types (I do know these will be revealed next month however)
  6.
  7. I will also not answer further questions about my job or identity for obvious reasons, or any question unrelated to Pokemon X and Y. I understand if you don't believe me, but I know you enjoy discussing potential leaks regardless, so I hope you will have fun with this even if you don't take it too seriously. I will be taking questions for the next hour or so (maybe longer). And now, without further ado, ask away.
  8.
  9. >new pokemon revealed
  10. Six new Pokemon will be revealed this month. Aside from the aforementioned Kinryosou, I will start out with one of my favorite new evolution families.
  11.
  12. Sumika is a Dark-type vampire squid. It is commonly found in caves, hanging from the ceiling with its suckers. It learns a move called Ink Jet that lowers the foe's accuracy and makes the user switch out. If you turn your 3DS system upside-down as it reaches level 25, it will evolve into Koumorika, which gains a secondary Psychic-type.
  13.
  14. >What is fairy type weak to?
  15. Fairy-type is weak to Steel and Poison. That's all I know.
  16.
  17. >what is the evil team
  18. Only one team, called Team Helix. They have a military theme but are very futuristic in appearance. Their goal is to unlock a Pokemon's inner strength through genetic engineering, to create an unstoppable army. Their leader is called Irida, who is descended from a long line of Pokemon scientists. In contrast with the team's goals, she seems more interested in understanding the minds of Pokemon.
  19.
  20. >yeah right, and I bet if I flip my 3ds to the right the truck will move revealing Mew.
  21. The 3DS can detect when it is turned at an angle. This is a feature that has been used in video games for many years for unique gameplay, but the main series of Pokemon games has never utilized such technology until now.
  22.
  23. >what gyms do you know about?
  24. The second gym is located in Rikume Town, led by Tania (fairly sure she keeps her name in the international versions of the game). She uses Fairy-type Pokemon and is also a librarian.
  25.
  26. >hey waste everyones time drawing shitty stick figures!
  27. Typing things is quicker than drawing, and I wanted to answer as many questions as possible. If you give me some time, I will draw something.
  28.
  29. >any new multiplayer modes?
  30. I do not know anything about that, sorry.
  31.
  32. >what's the 'cute' legendary like mew?
  33. Don't know, sorry.
  34.
  35. >any info on the new attacks? or fairy wind's power?
  36. Don't know about Fairy Wind, but I do know a few other new moves. I already mentioned Ink Jet in an earlier post. Koumorika also learns Brain Drain, a Psychic-type version of Giga Drain.
  37.
  38. Cloudy Skies is a Dark-type move that causes fog for five turns.
  39.
  40. Draining Kiss is a Fairy-type moves that heals the user by the total amount of damage done to the foe.
  41.
  42. Belch is a powerful Poison-type move that has different effects depending on the berry the user is holding.
  43.
  44. >Who's the new professor?
  45. There are actually three professors, one for each part of Kalos. The main professor residing in Vaniville Town is Professor Morio Kumashide (often referred to simply as Morio). He gives the player their starter Pokemon at the beginning of the game. His area of expertise is the aesthetic differences within Pokemon species, such as alternate coloration and gender differences. For example, female Gogoat have much smaller horns, and shiny Fletchling are golden instead of red.
  46.
  47. Professor Sanzashi is the professor from Mountain Kalos. He studies differences in Pokemon's strengths and abilities. As a former employee of Devon Corporation, he is a renowned inventor and had a major role in the development of Game Sync and the Dream Radar. It is said that he also worked with another famous scientist to develop a unique device, but resigned from the project when he learned of his colleague's association with a certain villainous organization.
  48.
  49. Professor Higambana lives Coastal Kalos and studies Pokemon form differences. She owns three different Shellos, a West Sea Shellos from Coastal Kalos, an East Sea Shellos from Mountain Kalos, and a new form called Central Sea Shellos. It is purple in color and looks like a cross between the East and West Sea forms. It is noted that she is a former student of Professor Oak.
  50.
  51. >crude drawing in MSPAINT of a vampire octopus
  52. I apologize for the terrible drawing, but here is my attempt at drawing Sumika. It really does look a lot better than this and it's lacking details, but I am not very good at drawing on a laptop.
  53.
  54. >are there any other fairy types you know of?
  55. Mawile has an evolution called Chiitaago that is Steel/Fairy (Mawile also becomes part Fairy). It evolves from Mawile by leveling up in a new enchanted forest area near Rikume Town. It learns Draining Kiss.
  56.
  57. >how big is your 'region'
  58. It does seem to be much bigger than the other regions, which is why it has three different sub-regions within it. I can't really compare it to anything else since I haven't seen the entire in game map, but it does seem to be very expansive from what I have seen.
  59.
  60. >comment on previous leaks
  61. I have read over the "rumours" you're referring to. I think that whoever provided this information was merely confused or the information was misinterpreted. I don't see anything else in the part of the rumor you claim is fake that contradicts the information I have, besides the thing about Gogoat.
  62.
  63. >any new evos for past gen pokemon?
  64. Besides the Mawile evolution, Sableye and Swalot will also have evolutions.
  65.
  66. The Sableye evo is called Yaminikui. It has a dark cloak covering its upper body, a black mask around its eyes which are almost fully closed, with only a tiny bit of gem showing from underneath its eyelid, and a mischievous grin. It evolves from Sableye by leveling up in a foggy cave illuminated by glowing gemstones. It learns Cloudy Skies.
  67.
  68. The Swalot evo is called Musavoru. It is red in color and very rotund, with a clearly defined head and a wobbly double chin. It has a large diamond-shaped marking under its chins that looks like an apron. It evolves from Swalot when it learns the new move Belch.
  69.
  70. >banette?
  71. I don't know the answer to either question, sorry.
  72.
  73. >other random pokes people desperately want to have an evo?
  74. Don't know, sorry. The Mawile, Sableye, and Swalot evolutions are the only ones I know of.
  75.
  76. >total list of pokemon that are now fairy?
  77. I only know of Mawile and Clefairy, which is used by Tania. Clefairy is pure Fairy, not Normal/Fairy as you might have guessed.
  78.
  79. >any info on the Mewthree forms?
  80. Yes. The Mewtwo form from the movie is called Awakened Forme, and is Psychic/Fairy. It focuses on Speed. Mewtwo transforms into Awakened Forme using the DNA Splicers together with an item called the Advance Gene. It is said to be a more enlightened form, able to make critical decisions with lightning speed.
  81.
  82. The other Mewtwo form is smaller and more closely resembles Mew. It is called the Dormant Forme, and is Psychic/Dark. It mainly focuses on defenses, and has much higher Attack than regular Mewtwo. Transforms using the DNA Splicers with the Reverse Gene. It is said to be a more regressed form, and relies on instinct rather than reason.
  83.
  84. >third legendary?
  85. I should have clarified in the OP that I also do not have any information on additional legendaries, sorry.
  86.
  87. >whats the deal with dna bracelets
  88. I do not know what the function of the bracelets is. I also don't know of any other Pokemon fusing, but the DNA Splicers are used for Mewtwo's form change (but it fuses with an item, not a Pokemon).
  89.
  90. >do you know their abilities?
  91. As with previous months, CoroCoro will not be giving the abilities of any of the Pokemon. I don't know what the reason for this could be. Maybe they're changing how abilities work? No idea.
  92.
  93. >how about Blain or team rocket appearances if Mewtwo is around
  94. As far as I know, those characters were not part of Mewtwo's origin story in game canon. If they're in the game, I know nothing about it.
  95.
  96. >what do you know about the horde?
  97. Horde encounters are a bit tougher because five Pokemon can attack a slower Pokemon in a row, but their levels are lower than normal encounters to balance it out. They're less common than normal encounters too. One thing I thought was neat is that breeding pairs are considered a single species in horde encounters, so if you encounter a horde of Volbeat and Illumise for example, the game will only refer to whichever there is more of (so if you find three Volbeat and two Illumise, it will just say you encountered a horde of Volbeat). You've actually already seen this with Tauros and Miltank, they appear to be actual breeding counterparts in X and Y (so breeding a Miltank can produce Tauros eggs and vice versa).
  98.
  99. >any info on gyms? how about a dark type gym
  100. I don't have solid confirmation on any gyms besides the Fairy one already mentioned, but I do hear talk. I've heard the name "Shiran" tossed around, she's supposedly a Dark-type Gym Leader. I can't say for sure that it's true though.
  101.
  102. >how can you not know if they are changing a fundamental mechanic yet know all these minute details?
  103. I only know what they choose to reveal to the public. That's what my job entails. I am not a playtester or developer. They didn't announce horde encounters which were a pretty big mechanic change back in February, did they? Would you have faulted someone who knew about Sylveon or Awakened Mewtwo for not knowing about hordes?
  104.
  105. >more mewtwo backstory shit
  106. No, I'm pretty sure neither Blaine nor Team Rocket was involved in Mewtwo's creation in the games, and Dr. Fuji isn't in the games at all, unless you think it's the same person as Mr. Fuji. By all means correct me if I'm wrong, it has been a while since I've played those games. But I believe you're getting them confused with the movie.
  107.
  108. >when will they reveal mewtwo's second form
  109. In next month's CoroCoro. That's where the majority of the information I've discussed will be revealed, though some of it will only be released through the official site (most likely the same day CoroCoro is released).
  110.
  111. >Does dunsparce evolve? does togepi and chansey get bit by the fairy flu?
  112. I believe so, but I haven't seen it yet. Any info I have on evolutions other than the ones I've already discussed is just hearsay, so don't quote me on it. While I'm at it, I did hear that Jynx is getting an evo as well, but again I'm not completely certain.
  113.
  114. And Clefairy and Mawile are the only old Pokemon I know of that become Fairy.
  115.
  116. >dog or wolf pokemon?
  117. There is an Ice/Normal-type wolf called Hyourufu. The design is very simple, it's just a white wolf with pale blue paws. It learns a new move called Frostbite, which lowers the foe's Attack, Defense, and Speed.
  118.
  119. >why are you doing this if your information is limited
  120. I have already given what I feel to be a significant amount of information already, and I still have more to give. I'm sorry it's not to your liking.
  121.
  122. >Normal? but normal types are so... normal.
  123. The design definitely looks like a basic stage, I'd be very surprised if it didn't evolve. The Normal type will probably change if it evolves as well. They do seem to have a lot of dual Normal-types so far, don't they?
  124.
  125. >anything that specifically intrigues you?
  126. Nothing I haven't already touched on, but Team Helix seems very interesting to me. I've heard all the joking suggestions of a villainous team based on Nazis, and while I want to say that seems a bit extreme for a children's game, I have to admit they do have some similarities. Also, it seems fairly obvious that Team Helix will have some connection to Team Plasma. Their leader is descended from a long line of scientists, and she's named after the Greek goddess of rainbows - I have a sneaking suspicion she's related to Colress. It also seems to be implied that Professor Sanzashi was involved in the creation of the Colress Machine, which makes sense as it was designed to unlock a Pokemon's full potential - exactly what Team Helix is attempting to do.
  127.
  128. >pokemon transfer? I want to bring over my 31 iv lvl 100 shiny salemance it's legit i sware
  129. It's still in the early stages, but they're definitely working on a 3DS app for transfers. Not sure how it works though.
  130.
  131. >I am incapable of looking at things objectively and demand proof because I'll be damned if I let some random person on the internet get one up on me!
  132. I do know, I said as much in my original post. This is completely understandable. However, I do have to ask you this: did the person who provided WPM with his info give him proof of his identity? If he had, why does WPM say he had the information for months before he finally posted it, purely based on a single piece of information being confirmed?
  133.
  134. You can choose to believe me or not, and to be quite frank it's generally wise to not take anything as fact until it's confirmed. I will wait for CoroCoro to confirm my information just as WPM's source did so. My aim here is not to convince everyone I'm telling the truth, but merely to provide a sneak peek to those willing to convince themselves.
  135.
  136. >secret bases coming back or other regions? also who's going to be furbait this time around?
  137. Secret Bases are one of the things I've heard talk of, but can't confirm. They aren't being announced this month, but there's always a possibility. I'd say no on the other region part though, Kalos really seems to expansive for there to be another region thrown into the mix.
  138.
  139. As for the "waifu" Pokemon as it were, the only other new Pokemon I don't think I mentioned yet is a Poison/Ground beaded lizard called Sabakugai. Somehow I don't think that's what you had in mind.
  140.
  141. >I am incapable of reading.
  142. >Any info on starter evos?
  143.
  144. I told you someone would ask when I specifically said not to, didn't I? I don't know anything about that, sorry.
  145.
  146. >b-but muh paheal needs its R34
  147. I know, I was making a joke. I guess the Mawile evolution fits the bill?
  148.
  149. >clauncher evo? Dark gym?
  150. I don't know about any other new Pokemon. I mentioned before that I heard there was a Dark-type Gym Leader called Shiran, but I don't know for sure.
  151.
  152. >can nidorina and nidoqueen breed? I ask because you mentioned that breeding has been altered for miltank and tauros
  153. Don't know, sorry.
  154.
  155. Anyway, it's past 5 in the morning here guys, and I really should have gotten to sleep hours ago. My next post will be my last, I will share all of the remaining info I have.
  156.
  157. >4am
  158. >that means your an aussie
  159. That was a typo, excuse me. I meant 4, not 5.
  160.
  161. >yo nigga what's this about dual type moves? dey a thing?
  162.
  163. Kind of, I was just about to cover this. What you might call dual type moves are actually more like Psyshock; they use their actual type to calculate same-type attack bonus, and a different type to calculated weakess and resistance. For example, a Water-type will get STAB on Scald, but it will only be super-effective on things weak to Fire moves.
  164.
  165. And here is the last of the info I have:
  166.
  167. Interacting with your Pokemon with Pokemon-Amie raises what's called a Bond Level. The Bond Level affects the rate at which a Pokemon becomes friendly, with higher Bond Levels also granting special effects in battle. Sometimes the Pokemon will turn to await a command and the trainer will say to aim for a weak spot, resulting in a critical hit. Other times the player may command the Pokemon to dodge a move, even ones that are normally 100% accurate.
  168.
  169. Eevee evolves into Sylveon after reaching a maximum Bond Level and achieving one of the two in-battle effects.
  170.
  171. The stat screen now has two gauges for each stat called "Potential" (IVs) and "Effort" (EVs). These are only shown in a roundabout way; the Effort meter is just a progress bar like Exp., while the Potential meter rates each stat's potential on a 5-star scale. There is also a facility called the PokeDojo where you can train your Pokemon.
  172.
  173. Well, that should be just about it.
  174.
  175. >ground poison lizard
  176. It's based on a gila monster or beaded lizard (see picture). It is said to be able to survive in the desert for months without water. Its skin secrets a poison that causes severe dehydration.
  177.
  178. >do fairy REALLY balance dragon? from what I've seen so far I remain unconvinced.
  179. I don't know what their strengths are aside from being strong against Dragon and weak to Poison/Steel, and I don't know how strong the new fairies are or what moves they learn, so honestly it's hard to say.
  180.
  181. I really do have to get some sleep guys. If this thread is still here in a few hours I'll be back to clarify a few things if you want, but I don't have any major info I haven't already shared.
  182.
  183. ‚³‚æ‚È‚ç!
  184.
  185. I'm back. I apologize for returning much later than I anticipated.
  186.
  187. >Shit about colress and his name being greek
  188. Colress is called Achroma in Japanese, from the Greek word for "colorless".
  189.
  190. >"you mean june?"
  191. No, I meant within the next 30 days. So next month, the 15th to be exact. Though people usually get copies of CoroCoro a few days early, so the first info should come between the 10th and 13th.
  192.
  193. >Any evos?
  194. Again, I only know of Clefairy and Mawile.
  195.
  196. >Does flareon finally get moves?
  197. I hope so. It has always been one of my favorites.
  198.
  199. >Contests returning?
  200. I'm not sure, but there is a page for ribbons on the status screen. And it appears for the new Pokemon as well, so it's not like in BW where ribbons were kept when transferring, it seems there is another way to earn ribbons in X and Y.
  201.
  202. >OP is a faggot he didn't fit my expectations exactly!
  203. Do you begin every post with the same greeting? Is it not common to say hello in English regardless of the time of day? But perhaps you are right, clearly someone ignorant of the fact that "sayounara" is often shortened to "sayonara" knows more about the Japanese language than I do.
  204.
  205. >why ink jet when there's octazooka
  206. There are many existing moves that have the same effects or are based on a similar concept but have slightly different effects. Octazooka is a damaging move with a chance of lowering accuracy, while Ink Jet always lowers accuracy and makes the user retreat. Why is it strange there are multiple moves that involve shooting ink at the target, when there are multiple moves that involve striking them with lightning or a burst of flames?
  207.
  208. >but there's already a character called iris. she's an annoying whore.
  209. You are correct. Irida is actually a Greek term for rainbows which is itself derived from the name Iris. My mistake. It should be noted that the Iris was likely named specifically after the plant and her name is not meant to have connections to rainbows. The names are very similar, but I guess they were trying to make her the opposite of Colress so they went with the Greek word for rainbow to contrast with his Japanese name Achroma.
  210.
  211. >how many pokes in the dex?
  212. There are three regional Pokedexes, but I do not know how many Pokemon are in each, sorry. I do know that there is some overlap between them (Shellos for example being found in all three regional dexes). I would imagine it is comparable to the number in the Unova Pokedex in Black 2 and White 2 (so roughly 100 in each Pokedex) but I can't say for sure.
  213.
  214. >what pokemon do your rivals get?
  215. I don't know. Though there is an upcoming game show which will have a playable demo, I imagine you will get to battle at least one of your rivals during the demo so you might find out.
  216.
  217. >how extensive is character customization
  218. As I understand it, the three basic hair and skin color combinations are the only ones you can choose from, but you can receive a number of accessories and clothing options during the game to mix and match. As for the benches, I have to say the fandom's enthusiasm for sitting on benches amuses me greatly. I haven't heard anything else about this great new feature, but I will let you know if I do!
  219.
  220. >bond level applies to wifi battles?
  221. I guess I forgot to mention this in my original post, but the Bond Level bonuses are disabled by default in player vs. player battles. There is an option to enable them if both players so choose.
  222.
  223. >some shit written in moonrunes
  224. How astute of you. The name I'm using is a kind of joke of sorts. The given name is indeed a real name(but not MY real name) and the family name is a sort of play on words. I'm surprised no one has gotten it yet, though as evidenced by the previous post correcting me on my choice of greetings, a lot of people here like to think they know more Japanese than they actually do, so they probably just ran it through a translator. You didn't think I would use my real name, did you? ;)
  225.
  226. >do AI's get pathing when they follow you?
  227. That's an interesting question. Yes, they do follow their own paths rather than walking in a straight line behind the player, but I'm not sure to what degree as I've only seen brief footage.
  228.
  229. >looker and Colress in the game?
  230.
  231. As for Looker and Colress, I don't know for sure, but the character of Irida does seem to have some relation to Colress. I suspect she might be his daughter (she is said to descend from a long line of Pokemon researchers and her name is the exact opposite of his; Colress/Achroma = colorless, Irida = rainbow). There is another image which people have speculated contains a pre-evolved form of Gogoat, it wouldn't surprise me there are surprises hidden in some of the images. It does seem to look like them, doesn't it?
  232.
  233. >Does pokemon following you return?
  234. Sadly, that doesn't seem to be the case. I loved that feature in Yellow and was pleasantly surprised to see it revisited for HeartGold and SoulSilver. Given that it was revealed fairly early last time, I would think we would know about it by now if they were planning to include it. I am still remaining hopeful that they're saving it as a surprise for the playable demo at the upcoming game show though. Stranger things have happened.
  235.
  236. >do you know how shinies are handled?
  237. I'm not sure what you mean. They seem to be handled the same way as in previous games. Though they did add a star next to its name in battle, which hasn't been seen since they debuted in Gold and Silver. Quite handy for those shinies that are very similar to their normal forms, in case you look away when the animation plays.
  238.
  239. >There was speculation shinies might have been redone with the jump to 3d
  240. I see. I did mention previously that shiny Fletchling are gold instead of red. And with the app they are working on for transfers, it would be a shame if your old shinies lost their shine when sent forward.
  241.
  242. >what's with the weird art of viola and her chest tumor?
  243. I don't know anything about the though process behind the character designs. The music does seem to sound a lot better, it has more life to it I'd say, though again I have only seen a few short clips of new footage so I can't comment any further.
  244.
  245. >Secret to vivillons wing pattern? where Xerneas and Yveltal will be located? New pikachu of the region?
  246. I can't answer any of those questions, I'm afraid. More info on Xerneas and Yveltal will be revealed in August, so you may get your answer about where they're found along with it. And no, aside from the six Pokemon revealed in July's CoroCoro and the other couple I mentioned, I don't know of any others.
  247.
  248. >games gonna be a hassle with battle animations in 3d
  249. I can only assume the battle animations can be turned off, as they could in previous games. If this is the case, it should be apparent from the demo at the upcoming Game Show. The only "out of the ordinary" things I can think of are things I've already discussed, such as each part of Kalos having its own professor and regional Pokedex. I'm sure there are still some cool surprises left in store.
  250.
  251. >what's this convention you mentioned
  252. The Pokemon Game Show is a convention dedicated exclusively to Pokemon. It will be held for two days in August at Tokyo Big Sight and will feature the first playable demo of Pokemon X and Y.
  253.
  254. >mewtwo's form does what now?
  255. I did not say it had the same Attack as regular Mewtwo's Special Attack, though I did misspeak when I said it was "much" higher. All it says is that Dormant Mewtwo has higher Attack than regular Mewtwo. That could mean as little as 111. Being "Dormant" it is probably also a lot slower than regular Mewtwo as well.
  256.
  257. >Ice/Normal pokemon
  258. >Flareon's Rock Smash
  259. As much as I adore Flareon, I will admit that made me laugh. Someone did say they thought the secondary Normal types would gain a new type when they evolved, so it might not be so bad.
  260.
  261. >any other new forms?
  262. Aside from Central Sea Shellos and Dormant Mewtwo, I do not know of any other new forms.

  264. >who will be demoing the games at this convention
  265. Visitors to the Game Show will have the opportunity to try out the game, I believe.
  266.
  267. >favorite features to look forward to?
  268. Good question. I'd say the sheer size of the region and the fact that it requires three Pokedexes is promising. I enjoyed the scope of Black and White 2 and I hope these games offer even more options and hopefully allow for more free exploration. We do get complaints from some of the older fans about the games having a very linear progression so it would be nice to have an expansive region with a sense of adventure. And the move to 3D is a welcome change as well. Pokemon has never been ahead of the curve graphically, but I have to say the games look beautiful. I particularly like the animation for Brave Bird and am looking forward to seeing more move animations of that caliber.

  270. >I'm japanese but I can't read ops name.
  271. >im japanese but i cant read op's name
  272.
  273. If you can't read kanji, you're probably not Japanese. Unless you mean you can't make sense of it, in which case I previously stated the name I am using is a joke. Read it phonetically, don't think about the literal meaning of the characters. ;)
  274.
  275. >What rivals will get the other two starters?
  276. Not sure about the starters thing. I have heard there will be a Fighting and Ghost Gym Leader, but I don't have any further details on them.
  277.
  278. >any new info on legendaries?
  279. I'm afraid not. Their types and I imagine some story details about them will be revealed in the August issue of CoroCoro.
  280.
  281. >how will starter pokemon be handed out?
  282. I have absolutely no idea. If I had to guess, I would say you would have two main rivals that get the other starters, and maybe the others already have their own Pokemon.
  283.
  284. >elemental punches coming back as TM's?
  285. I don't know.
  286.
  287. >more shit about OP's name
  288. It's not a Yu-Gi-Oh reference. ;)
  289.
  290. Anyway, I have to step away again for a while, I'm afraid. I have a last-minute meeting to attend. I should be getting the English names for all of the Pokemon and characters, so I will post them in a couple hours if I can, before I go to bed. I don't want to be up all night again.
