1.
Form and content are two links of cinematography that cannot be separated. While movies can generally be described as a formalist movie or a realist film, majority of the films fall somewhere in the middle mark of these two categories. The difference is, realists try to preserve the illusion that their film world is unmanipulated; while formalists make no such pretense. They distort their materials so that no one would mistake a manipulated image. Most realists tend to claim that their main concern is the content, not the form while formalists think otherwise. Formalists are described as expressionists because they feel that how they express a scene is as important as the subject itself.

 3.
Color brings out our senses. The way the cinematographer uses color in a film greatly shapes they way the audience views the scene. For example, if there's a scene where you know danger is about to happen, there may be a lot of red, while if there was a scene with a person crying the color blue may be over abundant. This is because the color blue symbolizes sadness.
