  1. Definitely not a rant thread. More of a hypothesis on why the ED forumers can't seem to decide on something productive.
  2.
  3. As the name suggests, the ED forumers have split into several groups. I know who belongs to each category, but of course, I won't list them down.
  4.
  5. 1. The Pragmatists - These ladies and gents do things in the most practical way regardless of whether or not it is unfair. They seek to use the best way to win and will defend their method of winning if it is in danger of being nerfed. This is the most common forumer in ED and is the most widespread type of gamer. Not just applicable to ED, but generally all games.
  6.
  7. The pragmatist is one who plays the most practical way. That is, to get the best possible equipment (And cores) to obtain the most wins as possible until the subsequent complaint from other forumers about how "OP" their method of fighting is, which then leads to a nerf, which then they will usher in a new method.
  8.
  9. These types also complain on the forums plenty of times about how a certain build is more "OP" than theirs without logical evidence that proves that the person in question has an unfair advantage. Usually, the complainer is someone of different build and is intolerant to losses.
  10.
  11. These types also vent out their frustrations in the forums through the "Balance" section. Where they flood the place with what most would consider silly or illogical topics.
  12.
  13. 2. The Equalizers - These ladies and gents do everything to keep everything "In balance", that is, to provide balance topics -with- logical evidence. They are usually in conflict with pragmatists who believe that something that should be nerfed isn't supposed to be. Equalizers are usually well-sounded with their posts but this angers pragmatists whose counterargument is usually a build change or by listing the supposed (But negligible) weaknesses of the supposed nerfed skill.
  14.
  15. These people are usually former pragmatists who have already satisfied themselves with enough wins to see through the fog that makes you want to win. The other part consists of people who want a fair game where everyone has a good shot at winning.
  16.
  17. 3. The Futuristic - These ladies and gents usually suggest something out of the ordinary and they also contain great ideas that may make or break a game if taken. Usually, only a few of these people are in the forums because other groups are more appropriate to some players.
  18.
  19. These guys often suggest radical ideas that may affect ED for a long term. In return, they receive plenty of flak from the pragmatics who don't want the old system to change, and the equalizers who believe that the system as-is can be changed to become better, but not too much as to make the change revolutionary.
  20.
  21. Sub-Groups
  22. Could be any of the above + a combination of below.
  23.
  24. 4. The Newbies - A minor group considering the fact that most forumers already have a high-level character. They are often ridiculed for their silly questions.
  25.
  26. 5. The Egomaniacs - A minor group of people way above their heads. Their pride takes them high and low. Their ego drives them to always "Winning" a debate or argument regardless of the cost. Most of the time, they spend plenty of time finding nicks in their opponents argument that they can expose to give them an edge in an argument. They believe anything they say is right regardless of whether it is or isn't.
  27.
  28. 6. The Lurkers - Forumers who view topics but do not post in them out of fear of rejection, the absurdity of the topic or lack of time.
  29.
  30. 7. The Suggesters - People who actively find things that need improving (In their own belief) and generally post it on the forums. These suggestions usually spark the start of a debate of whether or not the suggestion is good or bad. These debates are what I assume mods look for in a suggestion so that the posters will share their insights to the suggester's find.
  31.
  32. 8. The Moderators - These ladies and gents act as liaisons for the Devs and fish out good ideas that would be candidates for the next update. These are volunteer players so they may also exhibit some of the behaviors a regular player has sometimes. Of course, most of the time, they act professionally so that game keeps running smoothly.
  33.
  34. 9. The Developers - Responsible for developing the game. They act professionally but don't interact with players as often as moderators due to time constraints.
  35.
  36. 10. The Scholars - These people do their best to find statistical and non-arguable evidence (Such as official words from the devs) to support their ideas. This helps reduce the clutter of unneeded comments and help mods find good insights faster and more efficiently.
  37.

  39.
  40. Alright, now what?
  41.
  42. If you haven't noticed, I've categorized most of the kinds of posters we have in the forums. The main groups are in conflict with one-another's ideas because they have their own concept of what is right and what is wrong. Of course, some ideas are childish, but the ruthless nature of the groups means that every failure must be noticed and reprimanded.
  43.
  44. This repeats until one gets better and sees through all his wrongs and decides to post something from the lessons he'd learned from foruming. Then change happens.
  45.
  46. ---
  47.
  48. Like my Gaming Mindset thread, this is just me brainstorming.
