- What is Spellbreaker, what is your role in the party composition?
- * Boonstrip
- *Hammer CC
- *Bubble
- *Break
- ** Harassment
- *Immobilization
- *Hammer CC
- *** Party Support
- *Barrier Generation (WH5)
- *Movement inhibitor removal (WH4)
- *Dodge Regeneration (Heal)
- Food: Bowl of Spiced Fruit Salad or Plate of Peppered Clear Truffle Ravioli
- Oil: Bountiful Maintenance Oil (Very unnecessary as outgoing healing does not modify Barrier)
- Infusions: You can run Healing or Vitality
- Stats: Minstrel's is best, but Nomad's works too.
- Builds:
- * Beginner: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PKwEwEmosgCGWiTsrdF2O7006y/dB-zVJYjR3fpEUkkZCUdR1dIo6nIA/t0+mF-w
- +Good sustain
- +Good condi removal
- +Good survivability
- -Doesn't boonstrip enough
- -Replacing balanced stance with Break Enchantment will significantly lower your Bubble effectiveness unless you have a god tier Fireband
- ** Advanced: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PKwEIiNssAmIDjJxOx06y/dB-zVJYjRN/h0tKIcJQODBNeICyegMJI-w
- +Durability provide additional Resistance uptime
- +Great Boonstrip
- +Good Survivability
- +Does slightly more damage through sigils
- +Higher boon duration
- -Less party sustain, might generation
- -Less dodge generation
- Balanced Stance, is it necessary?
- *In my opinion, this is a question of how good your Firebrand is, how good your other Spellbreakers are (and how many you have), how good your Scrapper is, how good your Chronos are, and how good your opponent is. You can get away with Balanced Stance, but you also need to survive/exist outside the range of your supports. If you feel you don't need it, your options are:
- *Featherfoot grace - Resistance, Stun Break, Superspeed
- *Endure Pain - Cannot take damage, Stun Break
- *For Great Justice - Shout Healing, Might, Fury
- *Sight Beyond Sight - Warrior Reveal, best used on a second build you swap to, perform reveal, and swap back to the standard build
- **Personally, I would take Featherfoot Grace if I didn't take Balanced Stance. In an ideal comp, you don't need FGJ.
- **Also keep in mind, the Strip meter means nothing. I can cheese my strips but if I'm blowing bubbles and breaks that aren't followed by damage, my strips are meaningless. Don't chase the strip meter, just don't be at the bottom either.
- Ranged Strike:
- * WH5 in
- * WH4 out
- * Make sure your party isn't stuck
- * If you are not receiving strong pressure, use WH4 in as well for the damage bonus
- Bait Push:
- *WH5 when at 1200 range
- *Be prepared to WH4 out but wait for marks to start impacting squad mates
- *If heavy pressure is applied, use Shake it Off as well as your Heal
- Stealth Push:
- *Do you need to blast? In PUGs or similar I generally only WH4
- *Stay tight on the CDR
- *Be prepared to use your bubble OR CC another warrior's bubble
- *WH5 right before engage or before leaving to bubble
- Retreat/Pressured by Bubble:
- *Are you in the bubble? Use Hammer CC, Full Counter, or even Break if multiple bubbles to stop it
- *Are you outside the bubble? Clear movement debilitations and throw CC back towards the bubble.
- *WH5 if available
- *Be prepared to counter bubble or follow up a bubble with immob
- When you bubble:
- *Make sure you're on the CDR and pay attention to where the enemy is moving and how they are moving
- *Anticipate the bomb so you can Sword 2
- *If your FB are not bad, they will know you are Bubble 1 / 2 and then give you big stab before you leave
- *This usually never happens btw
- *Sword 2 into the bomb spot
- *Balanced Stance
- *Bubble and move with your group - chasing the zerg will get you killed against good players. Don't develop bad habits.
- *For example, CDR calls bomb and pushes to it and moves left. Don't chase the zerg, rotate your bubble left so you can apply pressure or retreat. The purpose of a bomb or bubble is not to one push the entire zerg by yourself.
- *If safe, apply additional pressure (Full Counter, immob, Hammer CC)
- *If not safe or your group sustained heavy pressure, move to them and WH4/WH5/Heal to refresh dodges
- When someone else bubbles:
- *Make sure you're on the CDR and pay attention to where the enemy is moving and how they are moving
- *Anticipate the bomb so you can Sword 2
- *Sword 2 into the bomb spot
- *Swap to Hammer before landing and use Break enchantments
- *Start Earthshaker -> Full Counter -> Earthshaker chain
- *Apply other hammer CC OR use the 2nd Earthshaker to escape
- *Retreat back to your group to WH5/WH4/Heal or head to a safe area to apply pressure from a different angle
- When engaged:
- *Your job is to harrass, once you've used Break Enchantment and Bubble on a coordinated bomb spot, you harrass
- *Generally, what I like to do is circle in and out of my group or the flanks of an enemy group.
- *From there, you are going to move out with Sword 2 and do an F1 -> Full Counter to immob
- *Next, you will either use Earthshaker to leave or to attack
- *If you attacked, use your other Hammer CC (Hammer 4 -> Hammer 3 optimally) and then use your Full Counter to reset Earthshaker and then use it to leave or CC again.
- *Swap back to Sword and leave or WH4/WH5 for your team if you created an opportunity for a melee push
- *Do not use Break Enchantments because the CD is refreshed. Use it for a coordinated push or bomb - but also don't sit on it. This is something you learn with practice, just remember not to chase the meter with it.
- *If you just did heavy dodging with your group - use your heal. It refreshes 2 dodges for 5 people. This is broken if you know how to dodge and so do your DPS. Stab suddenly won't be a problem and DPS classes won't fall over like playing cards.
- *Return to your party to do WH4/WH5, pay attention to when they regroup and push so this is best utilized.
- *In my opinion, your only condi clear is WH4 and it's only really for when you're riding the zerg. Shake it Off is YOUR stun break. Your movement skills are your get out of jail free cards. Let Scrappers cleanse, provide Resistance/Barrier and then go harrass.
- General:
- *Cancel your Sword F1 with sheathe
- *
- *Don't die. Boonstrip and CC is incredibly important and no one shits out immob like Spellbreaker. You'll die more the more aggressive you are, as you get experience you'll die less.
