- The mute man sang to me,
- “Do you feel you are happy?”
- The deaf man heard my cry,
- “What is better, to live or to die?”
- The lame man walked to meet,
- and looked at me from head to feet.
- The blind man saw my eyes,
- and witnessed a glimpse of lies.
- At first, I did not stop grinning;
- now, I could not stop shaking.
- What I saw in front,
- was visor I haven’t for months.
- Who was I to them?
- A sad man, eyes without gem!
- Their faces, the scorning lot,
- Stop taunting with that I have not!
- Then the mute man lifted his face,
- and said “Well, I rest my case.”
- They all vanished, joy again born;
- and the sad man was left, joy again scorned.
