  1. <emmeka> hattusili_III it was more like aristocrats started enclosing land so they could produce at greater labour efficiency because after the plague there was a labour shortage and then as society slowly rebuilt the population boomed because of this increased efficiency which created waaaaay too many farm labourers which put a downwards pressure on living conditions and resulted in mass agrarian unemployment
  2. <emmeka> so most of these people ended up drifting either to the new world or to the cities
  3. <emmeka> and now suddenly in the cities you have these massive hoards of unemployed landless workers who need sustinence.
  4. <hattusili_III> because claiming that such early labor transactions were voluntary is a pretty funny use of voluntary even for bourgeois types
  5. <emmeka> that condition gave rise to industry, since industry now had a workforce it could exploit
  6. <emmeka> tl;dr the bubonic plague caused the industrial revolution ;)
